Made 590 is one of Newtown's most delightful little shops. With a range of handicrafts, clothing, dish sets, jewelry and accessories, it's the type of place that will make even the most creative people carry on with appreciation for it's uniqueness.
The window display caught my eye first. How do you walk past a gorgeous Japanese frock on a mannequin with a cheerful deer for a head, swimming in a river of painted squirrels holding tulips? I know. Pretty damn near impossible.
Prepare to be charmed and ticked to death by everything inside Made 590. From tiny Japanese tooth holding boxes to small magnet sets that look like household items, the "awwweeeeee" factor is certainly there.
If you're searching for something gift-y, the books and home wears are a sure fire hit. Try a Sydney gourmet kitchens book paired with a wooden apple clock.
And don't even get me started on the t-shirts. The designers behind these screen-printed images have irony in their bag. How's the scene of a deer driving a car and catching a naked man in it's headlights? Genius. If you're less inclined to wear nudity on your chest, there's also a fair pick of G rated designs too.
