These waters make you wonder whether some prehistoric creature will launch out of the waters at you if you get too close. Yet, you'll see kayakers padding all about these waters. Located in Twin City, Georgia, is a serene retreat spanning 1,634 acres with a 412-acre mill pond surrounded by cypress and tupelo trees draped in Spanish moss, creating a picturesque and tranquil environment. The park's centerpiece is the historic Parrish Mill, a combination gristmill, sawmill, covered bridge, and dam built in 1880. The mill, restored in 1998, occasionally operates and can grind up to 200 pounds of corn per hour, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history. We were there in April, and found the campground to be very quiet and peaceful all 5 days we were there. Over the weekend, even with the campground filling up, it was still peaceful. The spots are well distanced from each other. It was a bit cold for swimming, but we did walk to the edge and try fishing. My only complaint is the online booking - there is a lack of photos of each site, and it's really hard to tell what the access to the water looks like. Some of the spots have an easier access to get into the water than others, especially for small children. We used campsitephotos.com to get an idea of what the sites looked like.

Sites are deep and level with a concrete pad and aluminum picnic table, and full hookups. 50/30 amp electric, water, and sewer. WiFi worked well. There's no bathhouse, but with full hookups it wasn't a problem. The grounds crew is out every day and the park is very clean. Easy access off I-20 with restaurants and shopping close by. Would definitely stay again.

Both hospitable and attentive to safety. Scouts had a blast on the course. Some played disk golf as well. Campsites were nice with access to running water and fire pits. Situated in a you pine stand. I highly recommend the venue. They are working hard to develop the place. Everything centers around "the hub" which offers a nice place to gather.

I will update when I get to explore the entire park…read more Dear Friends, I've been blessed with great friendships and my latest one is a group of people that we call the H Hikers. We are formally know as the Sole Sisters but we've welcomed some pretty great dudes into our group. We aim to meet up and walk/slog/hike atleast once a month. We participated in the Later Gator race at Phinizy Swamp and Preserve in January. While it was southern freezing temperatures, the views melted those frostbite feeling away. The course was well laid out and the water station greeters were awesome! They even had a beautiful young lady motivating us with a special cheer. Group Suggestions: plan ahead and register early. Select a packet pickup person and have everyone email the organizers that that person will pick up your packet. Trust me nobody wants to wait in that line. Just have one person take one for the team. Solo Suggestions: Prepare to make new friends as everyone is moving at their pace. Once the race starts we're a family and we encourage and look out for everyone.
