The good news was it was a muscle pull/strain and Dr. Alexander treated it with a steroid shot. I absolutely LOVE steroid shots because you feel good as new immediately and have to remind yourself "oh yeah, I'm not supposed to lift anything heavy," or other behavioral changes to help yourself heal. Dr. Alexander was so extremely kind to me! He did not charge me the full price for some of the charges because I was in between jobs when I injured my shoulder and had really crappy health insurance. This was in the mid-2000s. I greatly appreciated his kindness! I brought my husband here when he had some foot issue [he is a distance runner and runs ~ 15 miles a day] and the foot doctor he saw at the time recognized his name as being a 10K record holder in Madison County. I thought that was cool! I used one of their previous foot surgeons with about 80% success for a variety of toe/bunion surgeries; however, looking at their website it looks like he has moved on. I'm pretty sure I also used SportsMed when I broke my nose playing softball [another big oof!]. I've been to both the Hughes Road location and the Whitesburg Drive location. The Hughes Rd. location is closer to home; however, I like the Whitesburg Drive location because it is closer to retail and better dining options. The registration process was fast and efficient. Within 20 minutes, I had been processed, my insurance information had been collected, and I'd had an x-ray. Their appointment timeslots are every twenty minutes beginning at 6:00 AM with the last appointment at 4:40 PM. The interior is clean and the entire process is fairly touchless, except for touching your palm on some type of palm reading device. You enter at the northeast corner of the building under a green awning that shares a space with a hospital affiliated fitness center and has a lovely pond with a fountain that people are always walking around for exercise. I've never had to wait very long once I'm checked in. I've noticed the 6:00 AM timeslot is the fastest one in terms of getting in and out efficiently. Today I waited about 20 minutes to get called to the back for my blood drawing. This was for a 6:40 AM appointment and that's still not a bad wait. The restrooms are clean, the building is handicap accessible, and with the text check in there is no need to sign in at the indoor kiosk at the (typically vacant) interior receptionist desk. If you enter from Balch road and wind around through the parking lot you avoid the lengthy traffic light, east at the entrance to the Target shopping center. When you're done doing your fasting lab work, there's a Panera right there and you can order on the app, pick up your breakfast and get on with your day!
