Since moving to Florida, I struggled to find a stylist that could give me a quality haircut consistently. For years I hopped around from SportClips to Great Clips to the Hair Cuttery, from Fort Myers all the way down to Estero.
Time and time again, I would find someone that would do an okay job, maybe once, but the next time I visited they either were way too slow, I had to wait over an hour, they couldn't fit into my schedule, or they completely botched my hair. It was a nightmare.
There was even a brief period of time when I got so fed up with it, and much to my wife's dismay, I started cutting my own hair. Needless to say, that was a period in my life that is easily identifiable because I look so silly in every photo.
However, I completely lucked out when stumbled upon KB Hair Studio. My office is very close to them, and I think I was a bit upset about one of the most recent haircut experiences that I just decided that I needed to go ahead and schedule an appointment with a professional.
I walked in and was greeted by a few smiling faces of stylists that were busy cutting, coloring, and just all around doing hair. A very small blonde lady explained that KB Hair Studio was by appointment only and gave me a card, told me the prices, and encouraged me to set up a time to come back.
I made an appointment for two weeks later during my lunch break since I had actually just got my hair cut.
When the time came, I popped in, talked with Kayla Ewen (one of the owners and the very small blonde lady I spoke with previously), and explained to her the issues I had been having with getting my haircut in SW Florida. She was sympathetic and probably let me vent longer than I needed too.
I told her I basically wanted a high fade haircut: short on the sides, a little longer on the top, no visible part, and I wanted to look cool.
This was not her first rodeo, and she easily delivered my request. She shampooed me up, made sure I didn't have any hair stuck to my neck, and I happily went back to work.
Since then, I have had a standing 3-4 week appointment with Kayla and this is how it always goes:
- I receive a text message the day before my haircut in case I forget about my appointment.
- I show up at my scheduled time.
- I walk right in.
- She knows how I would like my haircut and doesn't need to be reminded about "what are we going to do today". However, she does make suggestions when she can tell I'm trying to mix things up a bit. Most notably when I randomly decide to grow my beard long.
- It is always a pleasant experience, we have a nice conversation, and she always does a great job
- When I leave, at some point that day, my wife, my neighbors who I see regularly, and a few co-workers will always notice that I got my haircut and mention how good it looks
Because I always give such rave reviews, and she has seen the quality of Kayla's work, my wife also now gets her hair cut and colored at KB Hair Studio.
I constantly recommend KB Hair Studio to my friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. However, the holdup for a lot of people seems to be the need to make an appointment a bit in advance. If you're thinking about giving KB Hair Studio a try, I would just suggest that you call and make an appointment soon. Get on the books. Once you're a regular client, it's easy to have a standing appointment with your stylist.
