The dining area is very chic with lots of sleek lines. Very elegant but modern style. Loved all the tableware as well - everything seemed earthy and hand thrown. Our favorites of the night were hands down the duck and truffle fried rice - we all fought for this dish toward the end. It was one of the most unctuous bites of food that I've ever had. The fried rice was PERFECT - each grain of rice was coated in beautiful fat and was the homiest and warmest kind of dish. Would come back for this alone. I highly recommend coming to YuGo, especially if you have a large group and want to try a variety of dishes. All the flavors and cook were spot on, and we really enjoyed our time. Thank you YuGo!

We sampled the fried dumplings, the wok fried green beans (YUM), truffle duck fried rice, and yellowtail nigiri. The yellowtail nigiri was insanely good. It didn't specify on the menu that it would be anything different than traditional nigiri, but it did have a non traditional sauce on it... and WOW it worked. The duck fried rice was delightful, but a bit too truffle forward (for us) to the point where it was too rich to eat much of. The 4 star review is purely because of the ambiance. The lighting is crazy. It's super dark in there, but the lights over the tables are like spotlights. It felt like we were on display to the other patrons. Additionally, the music is quite loud. Otherwise, food was fantastic and the service was also great! Highly recommend if you can exist in that sort of environment. Really cool concept very well executed.

Tonight I ordered avocado, egg and asparagus rolls served with traditional garnishes of pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. Wonderfully delicious, fresh and mouth-wateringly flavourful. As well as Sushi Gangnan serve Dim Sum and Tempura dishes, both with a vegetarian option available. Plus there's a full range of Honey Chilli, Peking, Curry, Kung Po, Satay, Szechuan, Black Bean, Teriyaki, Cashew Nut and Black Pepper etc meals, all also available as vegetarian dishes. Additionally there are noodle, soup, fried rice and traditional Chinese dishes. An extensive menu. It's sometimes extremely difficult to get a table in Gangnan, especially over lunchtime, as it's very busy and popular with Asian patrons. I sat in Gangnan on my visit tonight, however takeaway and delivery are also available. The restaurant itself is small, simple and clean. Prices, portion sizes, service and atmosphere are good. Plus it's BYOB. I will be returning and can see myself becoming a regular customer.

Rang at 8.25 and they said it was on the way then again 20 minutes later when it still hadn't arrived. We ordered wontons which had absolutely no filling - just greasy flat bits of filo. The "Vietnamese" spring rolls were just standard greasy pre-made rubbish, not the fresh rice paper rolls we were expecting. The special fried rice was just standard fried rice with 4 small pieces of chicken and 2 prawns on top - no veg or anything. The only nice thing was the miso soup but unfortunately half of it had spilled in the bag making the spring rolls even more soggy. Definitely won't order from here again.

It's reputation has already deservedly led to its being booked out on midweek evenings so that when I walked in at 6.30pm as a prospective solitary diner, I was lucky to get the one table which still had an hour to spare. I'm glad it was available because what I had was totally top notch to the extent that this would now be my first recommendation for an evening restaurant in Newtownards. I really really like satay so ordered the chicken satay skewers. These were not swimming or drowning in sauce as with so many popular joints. They were neat and all the more photogenic for it, while still tasting delicious. I could also have ordered a satay main course as there was one on the specials menu but I decided not to look like an obsessive and so I ordered the masaman in veggy form, with jasmine rice. This was served with a knife and fork but with the flavour being in the liquid, I asked for a spoon and got it. I'm loath to waste the tastiest part of the dish and therefore think that a spoon should be standard without asking! I look forward to a return visit.
