All of the coaches are well versed in many different areas of lifting techniques, strength and conditioning, injury prevention and also working with previous or current injuries using a scientific approach. During my first month there deadlifts showed up and I was able to explain my previous back injury from previous deadlifts and how I was physically and mentally affected. Strength Ratio coaches were able to listen and understand. We broke the movement down to a simpler form which allowed me to still participate but also allow me to start healing from my fear. Through many cycles of progression of new movements and building strength I can now fully deadlift without pain or exercise. There are endless amounts of examples to share but the bottom line is if you are looking for a place to grow stronger and have an absolute great time around a circle of positive folks... this is your place!!

My sister attends this box regularly, but I have next to no experience with CrossFit. After attending a couple of Saturday morning bootcamp classes at 9 am on a few different visits to Asheville, I wanted to try some mid-week classes. The coaches and students were friendly and focused. Aaron, the owner, stayed nearby to help me modify movements to my skill level. I walked away challenged and excited to return. I really appreciated that the coaches are committed to good technique and speak up to help correct incorrect movements. Although most of my fitness experience is anchored in dance training, I felt welcome at this Crossfit facility, and I wish I lived in the area so I could attend regularly.

That's so important to someone like me who is passionate about getting the most longevity with my body mechanics. It's not a show you once and then just push you to do it faster kind of place. It's a do it smart do it right. That alone deserves so much respect. The work outs are fun, the music is great, and not so loud I can't hear the instructor. Most impressively I feel my back muscles getting stronger like nothing has ever worked them before. I felt gains in my stamina and core strength within the first few classes. Johnny Buck…read more(main instructor/owner the way he explained it) makes fun of the mentally ill with a lot of maliciousness. 7 months into my BJJ journey and taking my training very seriously; I saw a student go up to Johnny and say (referring to one of the mentally Ill students who would train with us) "I was worried about hurting him" in which Johnny responded with "Oh no, they're really strong, they can handle a lot, and uh don't worry if you hurt em because they're not even human so..." Racism is prevalent here, don't be fooled by their kindness at first. Johnny used to call me mutt before I confronted him on that. There's plenty of cops that go to this gym so if the "leader" is encouraging making fun of mentally ill people and racism then you have a cycle that will continue throughout the community. This "gym" pushes a 12 month commitment for new members. They speak under their breath about you here if you don't submit to their culture or their way of thinking. It's almost like a cult in a way. The main reason why I wrote this review is because I felt it was my civic duty to let anybody who's innocently trying to learn self defense to protect others, are not taken advantage of like I was. My advice to new and potential future customers is to please stay away from that place but if you do want to check it out then I suggest you listen to your gut, stay true to who you are, and if you believe in God stay close to him because this guy and his ilk aren't good people. -Message to Johnny: What you teach is a perversion of what real humans naturally feel. Real humans have empathy. You don't.
