We are visiting the Black Hills in our motorhome and had originally reserved a car through a large…read morenational car rental agency. Long story, but were told that we had no car. When we got to our campground, Steel Wheel, we saw a Jeep with a "Rent Me" sign on it and the little portable office for Mad Peak Rentals. So off I went to inquire about the Jeep. Turns out that renting it was going to be cheaper than going through the other agency and we didn't have to drive 45 minutes to get it -- we simply walked down from our campsite and picked it up! We had a blast driving it up and down the roads! The other thing we wanted to do was ride the Mickelson Trail, a nationally known bike trail. Well, we thought we'd be camped right next to it but it turned out that we were several miles from it and riding to the trailhead would have been dangerous. So once again the folks at Mad Peak came to our rescue and offered to shuttle us to the trailhead and pick us up when we were done. These folks go the extra mile, both literally and figuratively, and can't be beat. They truly made our visit to the Black Hills one to remember.

This place is massive. If you have young kids would be a great place. Almost to much to mention…read moresuch as playgrounds,pools, water slides, horseback riding, multiple places to eat, utv rentals, and more. My issue is it's crowded and noisy. Also people have no etiquette. Walk through campsites all day everyday. The staff really need to explain to all campers that campsites are not shortcuts. For us would have preferred a more calm location where people know not to walk through sites.
