We were lucky to find seating on this very busy day right in front of the band. Typically we would NEVER do that - he's not big into loud music, but it was perfect and NOT loud - and 70's tunes that we could tap our toes to, watch people dance, all the while sitting in front of the river and watching boats pass and people just enjoying the day. We decided to stay longer and ordered dinner - wings, fish dip and beer & sangria - yummy! It was warm out so I went back up to the bar and bought a doozie for my beer bottle and now I've started a collection! Look out! The food comes from a food truck and I'm not sure if any of it changes, but there is a menu of typical bar fare. Wings, fries, sandwiches, etc. The music changes, I did see a calendar and I also saw that there is a facebook page, so check that out if you want to know who's playing and when. There was plenty of parking and just beautiful albeit rustic and nothing fancy but it's our Florida and there are no rules! ;-D

Within minutes of tossing our line in the water my mission was accomplished. I could have seriously gone home after that - but thanks to Capt. Jayce we spent the rest of the day catching more reds, speckled trout, gag grouper and even a puffer fish (yeah not epic but I was excited as I'd never caught one before!) Our guide, Tyler, was so fun and made sure all of us had the best spot to have clear water and positive encounters with the Manatees. He also made sure we were safe, had pictures and videos. A really nice and thoughtful person. Our captain was Captain Randy. He was very knowledgeable, kind and fun. He made sure we had hot beverages after we got out of the water! He was a very experienced captain. William was loved by the baby Manatee so much. It constantly sought him. It was adorable. Our guide, Tyler, had a really close encounter with the Manatee nibbling his facial hair! Lol. The whole experience, we maintained our instructions to not touch the Manatees. They could touch us, but was had to stay still and be respectful. The Crystal River Community is doing everything they can to protect the Manatees and educate us humans how to respect them. What a beautiful place.

Incredible scalloping experience!…read more My fiancé and I went up to visit the Crystal River Homosassa area for the weekend. I did a quick Google around to find a scalloping charter. I came across mellow mangrove charters. I booked online through their website. It was simple and efficient. I immediately received a confirmation email. We arrived to the location at 6:50 AM for the 7 o'clock departure time. Luckily, all the other guests on the boat arrived on time and we were able to leave promptly. Our captain was knowledgeable and very polite. He took us to a location where there were tons of scallops! He gave us all of the necessary instructions to have a wonderfully productive day! We reached our limit of 2 gallons per person and then we were able to enjoy the rest of the time bubbling around in the water. The boat was clean and comfortable. We are already trying to plan our next adventure to return to homosassa and mellow mangrove charters!
