This was so much fun! I looked up themed teas in London when my friend and I had an afternoon to spare before heading back home from Manchester. I booked online with no problems. They were accommodating to food allergies (nuts) and requests (no raisin scones). The food and tea were fantastic! It is all you can eat, so you can come hungry if you really want to. The tea ware and Alice In Wonderland decor was great! I would like it for myself. It was whimsical with butterfly pea tea water (a fun pH indicator) as a starter on a hot day. I highly recommend this Tea. It is in the Sanderson. Google maps gave odd directions to the back of the hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this whimsical and delightful London afternoon tea experience. The Sanderson is a peaceful oasis centrally located between Fitzrovia and Soho. The tea area is intimate and wonderfully Alice in Wonderland themed, with a pink Cheshire cat and pink flamingos adorning a verdant fountain area. Absolutely all the plateware and sweet treats are on theme. The experience starts off with a fun, frothing, color changing butterfly pea tea pour. I adored the sugar lump container, which was a sweet and nostalgic ballerina music box. The menu has versions that accommodate virtually any dietary restriction, and I appreciated how endless refills of tea as well as all tea treats served are included in the comparatively reasonable set price (£65, before tax/tip, alcohol extra). The variety of treats was good, with fun items like a mini Boba tea, cotton candy, and a scrumptious savory truffle mushroom-shaped pastry. I'm not usually a fan of savory tea sandwiches, and that remained the case here, but the fact that I could get multiple orders of the treats that I did like at no extra cost more than made up for it. Service was top notch as well. In sum, if you're an Alice in Wonderland fan, I highly recommend attending Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea @Sanderson.

I was determined to experience a high tea during my trip and was able to easily book the night before. This tea is located in the Sanderson hotel restaurant. After staff member I ran into was very helpful and friendly as I was visiting with my toddler. You have the option between set menu and vegetarian. The sandwiches were ok, my favorites were the cucumber and chicken. The salmon was a little thick on the cream and ham wasn't very good. As others have said set your expectations, the Alice in wonderland theme is with the cutlery, decor and some pastries. The staff do not dress up and it is not an immersive experience. When you walk in there is a set of dress up options for kids and a tired looking Cheshire cat. I was seated at a table with space for my buggy and the servers were very kind in offering help. They do have high chairs here if you bring children. My toddler was the youngest there when I went but it does seem kid friendly and was not overly fancy where you worry about a toddler chattering in the corner. The tea was so so. My favorite was the guava mango green tea. The white rabbit white tea was rather plain but the server didn give some good recommendations on what each one would taste like. The pastries were sweating a bit even when they were first brought out. The boba tea was way to sweet, although to be fair is advertised as a syrup. The popping boba was disgusting and I didn't expect it. The heart shaped raspberry pastry was tasty and had a nice crust. I really liked the service for which they tack on 13% service charge fyi. You get to revisit sandwich options so no need to worry about leaving hungry. I forgot to mention the scones with clotted cream and jams were delicious, the scones were kept warm in their napkin blanket and were so flaky and perfect. Overall I don't think this experience is worth the cost but it is a nice spot you can take your kids. I only wish they had more Alice in wonderland things and would'bt have minded getting booted out by the queen of hearts or something. A surprise appearance from the white rabbit when people come in late? There are so many things that could be done to make it more fun than the pastry slightly resembling a caterpillar.

My family and I had a wonderful time a the Mad Hatters Afternoon tea! I will preference this review and say none of us had experienced afternoon tea before, so I can't compare it to what a "normal" afternoon is like but as a stand alone afternoon experience I had a great time. The hotel is slightly off the beaten path and we booked our afternoon tea for during the week on a Thursday, so while we had reservations the restaurant was no where near full. There were 4 or 5 teas to choose from, each based on a different character and it was fun trying all of them. The savory food was absolutely delicious! We ordered more of most of the savory bites. The sweets were also good, although some were a bit rich for my liking. The theming of the tea was amazing! As a huge Alice in Wonderland fan I could not have been happier with the decor and the themed foods. It is very whimsical and not subtle so you will have no doubt you are at an Alice in Wonderland themed tea! The service was okay. Our waitress was really helpful at the start, but towards the end disappeared and we had to finally go find someone for us to check out. Other than though it was a lovely experience!

Blueberry caterpillar, chocolates and mousse, all were soo good.

We did not have a reservation but was still seated outside in a nice place. Serviced was nice the staff was sweet and all smiles. They lightened up a bit nice o started quoting Alice in wonderlands tea skit by the hatter. Great tea and finger foods. I'll be visiting again.

This was such a good experience! I love Alice and wonderland so I just had to try this out and it was worth it. The atmosphere was magical and the food was pretty gosh darn good! The service was also very nice and friendly.

This spot in London is located in a unique hotel next to Oxford Circus and I saw many great reviews and decided to take the leap. The courtyard area is beautiful and the decor from the plates to teacups is wonderland themed. The staff were really nice but there seemed to be quite a bit of confusion on the menu and it was hard to get their attention even though it was not busy. Food and tea also took way too long to come out compared to some customers that came when I was getting the bill. It is not worth paying the extra for the rare teas. You end up getting less tea overall and less to choose from. The food was a good amount but apart from the biscuits the deserts and sandwiches were very underwhelming in regards to taste. My bill ended up being over $100 with no champagne. I was really excited to try the Mad Hatters Tea Party but left disappointed. I'm hoping my experience was just a case of new staff and poor service day. Price $$$ Food 5 Atmosphere 9 Service 6

Tea tower for two, that's about $165 American dollars worth of snacks.

First off, we were not dressed appropriately for this tea experience because we had been walking around Hyde Park all day, but the host was welcoming, explained afternoon tea, and seated us at a nice table. We chose this place because they offered a kid's tea menu, and it was on the way back to our hotel. My husband and I enjoyed the snacks, but honestly, our 5 year American son could have cared less, but he loved the cocoon chair and fountain in the courtyard area. Overall, being American, afternoon tea isn't a thing, so it was an interesting learning experience for us, albeit a costly one. The next time we have tea, we might actually dress appropriately and find a place a little less expensive.

What a lovely experience! Hidden quietly in a hotel veranda is a wonderful Mad Hatter themed tea party. It was a small outdoor setting but the tent and heaters kept the place cozy. Absolutely loved the savory spread of bread. The chocolate and other dessert treats were too sweet for me. Took one bite of each but got more of the savory sandwiches especially since they were refillable. We loved the Alice tea, black tea was delicious. Such a fun experience! Thank you!!

A truly magical experience - from the initial tea selection our server took care to ensure we understood the food but also how it fits in the theme. The food was amazing, and the servings were generous. I had the vegan option and my son had the regular option and we both loved the flavor and the thought that went into the dishes. Definitely a must do for Alice in Wonderland fans

I really wanted to love this place! The tea was yummy and it was super cute- however, $165 for tea and cookies for two is a little over the top. I suggest if you go try to see if you can order for one ( even if you are a couple of people) as there is enough tea and goodies served for two per serving. The ambiance and service was really great- I just can't swallow the price tab.

If I want to rate the looks and decor I'd give 5/5. Service also 5/5 but the over all I have it a 3 because to be honest the food didn't taste as well as it looks. We felt that some sandwiches were stale and not fresh. The scones I had better anywhere else.. for the price we paid we definitely expected more fresh and tasty treats.. even the little juice "drink me" we couldn't drink! Overall kids and I had a lovely experience but I'd hope they can work on the taste and freshness to make this more enjoyable..

I really wanted to do afternoon tea while in london. I decided to go with mad hatters. Made my reservation before my trip. We arrived a few minutes late due to traffic but got seated when we arrived. It's located in a courtyard inside a hotel. There isn't really any signage. So after we sat down. No one came up to us at all. My friend went up to ask the host what was going on. We didn't know who was suppose to be our server. There was a woman who was around some of the tables near us but we were ignored. There was a server serving another section that did come up to us after noticing we weren't being attended. I'm not sure if the servers get assigned tables in London. Anyway I think this guy tried to help us cause he felt sorry for us. He was trying to manage his section along with coming over to just wait on us. We ordered our teas and got our tea sandwiches. I went with the Alice tea which was a black tea. When our tea sandwiches were brought out, the lady explained what each one was to us which was really nice. Our teas were good. Some of the sandwiches were a hit or miss. Breads were stale. The whole experience was 48 pounds per person. We didn't choose the champagne option. You can have more of whatever you'd like on the menu. We were brought out some scones at the end which were warm. The lady whom I think was suppose to be our waitress came over and asked us if we wanted anything else. We kind of just wanted to get out of there. I would not recommend this place for tea.

Went for Afternoon Tea…read more Food - 5/5. Teas had great aroma and gentle bitterness. Earl grey had a floral scent while the English breakfast had a stronger astringent flavor. The scones were the highlight of the entire experience. Compared to the scones in America, the ones here are more savory, firmer, and way less sweet. Despite the firm crust, the crumb is very soft, leading to an excellent texture. The clotted cream had a clean richness, having none of the heavy mouthfeel you get from cream. The jam emphasized the natural sweetness of fruit with a hint of sourness. The clotted cream and jam were spread into a perfect ratio, resulting in every bite of the scone having a balance of all three. Sandwiches were simple with the manchego being my favorite. The bread's drier texture and the cheese's strong flavor paired well with the tea. The cake were soft and very sweet. By themselves, the cakes were overpoweringly sweet but with the tea, it was perfect. Service - 5/5. Very accommodating and welcoming! They had an alternate schedule that day and we arrived near their closing time, but they extended it by 30 minutes to allow us to fully enjoy our afternoon tea. We didn't utilize the entire extension out of respect for their time, but that kind of generosity really added to the experience. Value - 5/5. I'm not entirely sure why the cost of afternoon tea is so high as many locations I saw were showing prices that were £80+ . In comparison, Tea and Tattle offers a traditional set for two people at a very reasonable £48. Portions were good and looked the same if not better than those offered at way higher prices. It is worth visiting just for their scones alone! Excellent location to experience afternoon tea. Parking - N/A

My sister-in-law is an amazing planner, and since we were meeting family in London for a few days, she planned a wonderful tea for us here at Tea and Tattle. This place is an old family bookstore that was then turned into a wonderful spot for afternoon tea {with still carrying on the feel and look of a quaint book shop}. Reservations are required since it is only large enough for two, maybe three seatings at a time. Once your party is seated, you will receive your menu and decide on the Tea menu that you desire {how many Teas, Sandwiches, Cakes and Scones - with a wide variety of each}. Would you prefer a Coffee, a Smoothie or a Salad? No worries, they have those options as well. Be sure to inform your host about any allergies as they can customize your tea settings based on any restrictions. The Hubs and I decided on the Tea For One - This included a pot of Earl Grey {or your tea of choice}, a selection of five Mini Tea Sandwiches which may vary {ours included Cream Cheese, Chive and Cucumber / Mature Cheddar and Chutney / Ham, Rocket and Red Onion Marmalade / Ham with Mayo, Mustard and Tomato / Chicken with Cucumber and Lemon Mayo Chutney}, Scones topped with a Delicious, Mouth-Watering Cream and Strawberry & Raspberry Jams as well as Lemon Cake and Mini Chocolate Eclairs. Each guest will also be served a deliciously tangy glass of lemonade as a final sip for the afternoon. Every single bite and sip of tea was perfectly paired and the experience was a wonderful way to spend our last day in London with the family. I highly recommend this experience if you want to feel a little extra fancy and enjoy a spectacular afternoon tea.

Their servings are HUGE, and are so affordable too! I left wishing my mother and I had the ability to save our leftovers for later, because we hated wasting any of the delicious food that we ordered. Even before we got our food we were pretty excited. When you walk in you're greeted here with a beautiful sight: fresh sandwiches, bread, and pastries, all on display right at their main counter. Once we were seated I noticed little flower pots line the window, too. Fresh food and flowers - what more can you ask from a cafe for a first impression? We also loved the owner and his wife: they were very kind and they constantly kept us up to date on our food order, just to mention what was done and what they still needed to do or cook. They clearly work hard to provide fresh fast meals - and we learned quickly as people came in and out of the place that takeaway is available here. But we wanted to enjoy a sit down meal, and enjoy we did! I started mine with fresh squeezed juice - we're talking so fresh you'll want to add sugar to it if you're used to the juice that comes in stores. And when our English breakfasts came out? Just, wonderful. My mother and I each received SO much food. Both meals came with amazing buttered bread (like, I would have happily eaten an entire plate of bread and only bread), hash browns so fresh that they may as well have given us the original potatoes (yum), and what I can really only describe as a mountain of beans, eggs, and meat (well, on mine anyway - not so much on my mother's vegetarian breakfast order). All of it absolutely delicious, and every single bite made me smile wider and wider. Definitely walk on in if you're near this little shop. Don't be afraid to order one meal and share it if there's only two of you, either - you'll likely both leave well fed, and you can always order a little more food if you want too from that great looking counter of theirs...
