Stopped by Macy's and the experience was average. The store had a large selection across different departments, which I liked, but it felt somewhat disorganized in certain areas. I went to Macy's in the Staten Island Mall. I bought a necklace for my wife last night and trusted the guy selling it to me(why wouldn't I). I look at my purchases online this morning as I am looking to order some stuff online and I look at my in-store purchases and the necklace I bought is not there instead a pair of earrings are there. I look up the chain that I bought and the chain is about $200 cheaper than what was rang up. I am trying to get them on the phone but nobody is picking up. TODAY (05/27/24) I WENT TO MACYS TO LOOK AROUND. I FOUND SOME SHIRTS to buy. i went to the cashier and gave her my ID because i didnt bring my card with me. the cashier told me that my macys credit card was cancelled for nonusage. she told me that i had to reapply. i didnt understand this but i wanted the shirts so i reapplied. when i went home, i got online. my account doesnt say it is closed. i went on chat and that plain sucks. i couldnt get any information. i then looked up macys website in a separate search of the internet. using that chat there, i found out that my macys credit card is still open and i apparently was conned into applying for a macys american express card. so now i will soon have 2 macys credit cards. one with a $2,500 credit line (my old card that i dont use very often and one with a $6,000 credit line (the new one). i make purchases one or twice a year at best. what the hell do i need with a second macys credit card. when i asked this questions, Vishwanath's response was "congratulations on your new Macys American Express card". i have found out the name of the Chairman and Ceo (Tony Spring) and the COO & CFO (Adrian Mitchell) so i can issue an official complaint. macys better hope that i dont find other people to complain to because this is bullshit!!!!! read more

Don't buy from Macy's! This is what happened. We purchased furniture on 24 month no interest promotion. We received the first bill and set up with our bank to automatically pay before the 24 months was done. In the meantime we never received another bill. My wife went to Macy's to buy some stuff and we never received bill. Macys then decided to put our payment on the promotional balance on to the new charge amount not the promotional balance therefore creating a $2500 interest charge. You call Macys and they pass you to a collection agency whos says if you pay this amount it will be settled. The then call back a week later and tell you that you owe the whole amount. Long gone are the days when Macy's was a well-maintained and moderately-priced store that was pleasant to visit. Nowadays I wander in every few months hoping that I might finally find something in the women's clothes department but I usually walk out empty-handed. The entire second floor is a series of various clothing styles but they are often a disorganized mess. Overall the impression I have is that it's become a closeout store with endless racks of unsold items that are so tightly packed together that you can't browse through them (if you even wanted to!). The checkout system they now have exactly resembles the maze of junk merchandise that you have to get through before getting to a cashier (picture the line in TJMAXX or Marshall's!). By far THE WORST MACY*S IN THE COUNTRY! the most unhelpful associates a company could hire - especially in their service counter! Denise and Barbara (I think) were so rude to me when i attempted to return items I received from my wedding registry. They wanted to give me credit for the lowest price of the items which were easily $300 under what my gift givers paid. The only saving grace was NICOLE who is on the 3rd floor and was a former bridal advisor (apparently macy*s has gotten rid of their advisors) and was able to access how much my gifts were purchased for. Buying a bed there has been a complete nightmare. We knew there were delays due to COVID, but they rescheduled delivery 3 times. Even after rescheduling, they would send us nagging phone calls on the former date of the delivery. Then when we moved and tried to update the address online, it didn't go through, and we had to call a week later to customer service and get somebody at the original store on the line to fix the issue. Finally, weeks after buying the mattress, Macy's chose a random Saturday to take the money out and gave us a surprise overdraft. The official policy is that the store holds the money (without taking it out) until 3 days before delivery -- our delivery was scheduled for 7 days out when the money was removed. read more

Now, I have to admit that Covid-19 did a number on Macy's but it also affected most businesses to the point that many are now permanently closed! However, Macy's continues to try to have a decent inventory despite the fact that (Staten Island Location), the mall itself won't be opened until October 1st! Having said that, my mom had gone there to buy new shoes. It had been five months and it was time to get some new stuff. Besides, the fact that shopping does help you clear your head from all of the nastiness that we see in the news; right? So my mom noticed at the women's shoe store that many of the older inventory was still on display but some new shoes were also being sold. The only problem she had and what other people were experiencing there was the lack of "Working Staff," I mean there were retail workers there but many of them were horsing around rather than working! My mom noted that she saw many people sitting around waiting for their orders only to be told that they didn't have the product in inventory! I mean, isn't that kind of rude? They quickly disappeared to the back and didn't show up for twenty to thirty minutes, only to tell you that they don't have what you waited for? That's not unprofessional that's disgusting! There were only two people really working hard, a heavy set woman and a middle eastern fellow! They were hustling when the others weren't! Anyway, luckily for my mom she had a great retail salesperson helping her out, my mom can't recall his name but she remembered "Hamdhi," the Middle Eastern man that I mentioned earlier. He received the order, he ran back into the inventory area, came back quickly either with the boxes, or just came back and stated that even though the computer is showing that the item was in stock, it wasn't on the shelves or misplaced. At least he tried! He made the effort to make her shopping experience a beautiful one! After a few choices, my mom decided on a beautiful pair of shoes and now she wants to go back and buy more shoes! That's why I am giving Macy's Women's Shoes five stars! They really need to commend this guy for a job well done, and personally, he should be made the women's shoe store supervisor because I believe, he would keep the store in tip-top shape! The Bobbi Brown counter is my fave with super nice and helpful ladies working there. Three floors that includes housewares on the top level. I do wish their children's department was larger though. Well when you live on an island where you need to venture to New Jersey to get to any good stores, Macys tends to become your only salvation when you need to buy clothes ASAP or you do not have the money for the toll. This Macys is not the best that I visited. Actually I like the one in Roosevelt Field in LI the best. Yet it is pretty reasonable. It has three floors. Since it is one of the few good places to shop for clothes on the island, it gets VERY crowded. The first floor has fragrances, jewelery, lingerie, Menes and accessories. Not happy with this branch. I came here because an item I wanted was noted to be available in this branch when I checked in the Macy's website. Low and behold they had the women's north face lightweight jacket in black. They did not have the item available in men's. But i specifically checked for the men's in black and I double checked while I was in macys just in case my eyes were deceiving me before. I would say avoid at all costs, because: 1) Lines are always long, and there are inevitably 1-2 screaming children in line. 2) Cashiers are slowwwww as molasses, unhelpful, and surly. 3) The place is usually a mess! HUGE mess! 4) A lot of tacky, cheap, ugly stuff. But... 1) They also have a lot of decent stuff at reasonable (aka not like Herald Square) prices. Nice selection of Hilfiger and DKNY. 2) They do have a small section for fancier brands, like miss sixty, buffalo, etc, at fancy prices. (edit: after recent visit, there is even more upscale stuff than there used to be, and those brands are just as pricy as in Manhattan!) 3) The juniors section is actually pretty cute. The Men's department here is excellent. My boyfriend has bought a number of really nice suits here at deeply discounted prices, and they hem the pants for him which is great. Sales associates throughout the department are always really nice and helpful, and eager to let you know about discounts and promotions they have going on. The Women's department is okay. I take issue with the fact that they seldom carry dresses in my size (I'm what some consider to be "petite), and the service upstairs is somewhat unhelpful and distracted. When I do purchase a dress there, I typically head straight for the clearance rack - they usually have a pretty nice selection, and I don't mind getting a dress tailored if I didn't pay full price for it. read more

I previously had a negative review about the shoe department at this location. Since then, I've experienced better assistance in that department after shopping on several occasions. And it's not just this Macy's but a few I've visited: One I hate walking in through the cosmetics area, because people aren't happy to see you - they seem pressed to get you to sign up for a Macy's card.
