This why all macys are closing.... got to the register at 8:45 with all my items, store was closing at 9 pm the clerk was closing the register she told me she couldn't help me told me to go to the next department, then she was closing her register and told me to go downstairs with my items . Went downstairs and that women was closing her register at 8:51pm she must of been a manager because she didn't have a name tag ... I stopped shopping at Macys about 9 months ago because I had trouble finding Men's 2x tops in Athletic and sports wear. I decide to go back yesterday. To my horror they moved the Athletic wear to a smaller section in the basement. The area was a disaster. Clothes crammed together, clothes on floor, and the no longer sell NIKE Athletic wear. I then went over to Last Act wear you can always find some good buys and that section was an Abomination. Nothing was in order. The size on hangers did not match the clothing, so you have to spend time going threw everything on the rack. The rows were close together 2 people could not pass. There were clothes on the floor. The worst were the Double Racks, I am 5'8" and could not reach the shirts on the top rack to take down. Then when you find something there is no price on it. The Bright Spot of the Day was Angela the Cashier. When I pull out my wallet, Money fell to ground That I was unaware of. She Alerted me, thanks Angela your Honesty is appreciated. I suggest you hire some Teenagers for the summer or after-school to help elevate this store to the status it once was. I actually want to give you 0 stars. read more

Department Store. Macy's has been in operation in one form or another since - 1843. Yes, I was impressed with that too. At one time Macy's was a very exclusive shopping destination. Not so much these days. Since becoming a part of the Federated chain, Macy's has gone downhill in my opinion. Federated even changed the name to Macy's inc. to try to spruce up the image - but the proliferation of Macy's stores has diluted their exclusivity. The Walt Whitman location is like a zoo- there is no other way to describe it. People everywhere, merchandise everywhere: good luck trying to find what you are looking for. Macy's does do some things really well- the Cellar area for instance is great for scoring great deals on kitchen goods- small appliances etc. The clothing areas are a disaster - it is not that Macy's doesn't care, but by trying to appeal to the masses they get the crowd they were looking for. Not a bad place to go for home products (towels, bedding, etc.) when sales are going on. However, the store is dirty and disorganized, especially the dressing rooms, which have mirrors repaired with duct tape. Checking out was rediculously slow, sales associates were moving in slow motion. Our associate took the time to complain to us about her property taxes and mortgage of all things. Every associate refused to use their register and referred me to someone else. One register had a problem leaving one for the whole floor of holiday shoppers. Today I had horrible experience. What is going on at the Huntington Macys? Employees have a horrible attitude. I bought two Mens Polo shirts to be given as gifts. I asked the cashier for a Macys paper bag. She said NO. I saw paper bags was under the cashiers desk. The cashier was angry toward me. She said "here, take it". She never said I am sorry, I didn't know that the paper bags were there. I was surprised that a Macy's employee was so rude and lied! The first floor had a food event. I was given 2 dishes(Spaghetti) for my son and me. I needed to use a chair for my son. A heavy set female Macy's employee in a purple shirt came to me, "Don't use the chair" I asked "How can I hold two dishes and take care of child?" She had lot to say "You are supposed to have one dish! We are going to use this chair. You have to move. She had to have more consideration, as a Macy's representative, for my 3 year old son. He could spill the food and slide on the food. Event restaurant employee nicely gave me two dishes?!!! Do I need to throw one in the garbage? She was rude and not afraid to express anger to client a customer and her young child. After my shopping I saw a"Sushi event" I went there and tried to get a sample of the sushi. Suddenly the heavy set woman and an African American male, both Macy's employee came to me. They said, "You have to get out. We watched the video. You had a dish already. We will call security" !!!! What were they watching on the video, me sampling the food? There was nothing posted ,"One dish per customer. I believed I could try 2~3 different kinds of foods can take if I want. And this was not even Macy's food. Macy's provided the space only, nearby restaurants wanted to share.! It is my right to choose the food I want. The heavy set woman employee was not afraid to insult me, She and the African American male were involved together. I asked "whats your name?" She passed by me. I followed her "Whats your name?" She said "when you follow me I will call security"!!!! A customer can ask an employee's name.The African American guy was very rude when I asked the female employee's name.He said "I'm not going to give it to you". When I complained to the manager about what happened, he did not stop arguing with me until the manager told him to stop. Macy's employees can at least show ettiquette VIDEO CAMERA IS NOT THAT TYPE OF NASTY PURPOSE. If you have limit of policy WRITTEN!! NO ONE CAN NOT INSERT OR NASTY TEAM PLAY TO CUSTOMER, TREATHING AS SECURITY!! These two employees on the first floor seriously need customer service education ! The heavy set woman would not give her name when I asked. She ran to the second floor! The African American cooperated with that woman. They were both nasty, rude, argued, and intimidated me . Let me preface my review by stating that this is specifically directed at the Origins store within Macy's not Macy's itself. I came here to exchange two items that I purchased on the Origins website. I picked out two things to exchange it for, one was more money and I also picked out an additional item that I was going to purchase. First, I was told I could exchange them after I explained I purchased them online. Then the employee was unable to complete my transaction, in the middle of this, she proceeded to stop helping me, leave the register and start helping another customer pick out items and then she rang that customer up. All the while I'm standing there in disbelief. Finally, she continues helping me and explains again that she will try to return the items once more but she never returned items purchased online before. She then started giving me the I'm new excuse but not in a nice way, with an attitude. I asked if she could please call a manager. She called over someone from another dept. and then that person stated that I couldn't exchange the items with an online receipt so I would have to get the non-receipt price which was lower. I explained that this was ridiculous as one item was an evenly priced exchange. Then another woman comes over and states I can't exchange them because I purchased them at origins.com and this isn't origins... um.. excuse me? I said to the lady "Am I not standing in an Origins store right now"? Mind you, this isn't just a counter, it's an actual store within a store. They proceeded to tell me that I couldn't exchange them at full price, I did not understand this. They then were going to call a 4th person and by that time I had it. I went to take my items back, I had my credit card on the counter and the girl tried to stop me from taking my card, then she placed her hand on top of my mascara as to prevent me from taking it. I grabbed the mascara and the other item and my receipt out of her hand and walked out. I wrote a complaint letter and posted on their Facebook page, I also called Origins customer service and Origins itself has terrible customer service. But, Macy's is responsible for this because why would you put a new employee all by themselves in this store when clearly they have no help that's handy or competent! And what difference does it make if I purchased the items on the website, I was doing an even exchange for one of the items and the other item was adding money! I also was going to purchase something else, so you just lost a sale as well! How about making an exception for the lousy 2.00 and gaining another 20.00. DUH Any good manager would've figured that out! This is by far the worst customer service I've had in a long time and I will never go back here! read more

Only reason I'm giving 5 stars is cause of Shinita who works at Macy's! I went in on July 1st and saw that Macy's had some awesome sales 25-40% off and when I got to the register the prices were not matching up. Shinita (and her coworker who's name I did not get) went above and beyond with helping us and not only that but with a huge smile on her face and such a caring attitude. This review is directly and solely association with MAC cosmetics. Strolled in here a few months ago and told one of the women that I need desperate help! I said I had no idea how to do my makeup and I needed advice. She happily sat me down in one of the chairs with extremely bright lights and went to town. I liked the way I looked and I said okay I'll take it all! She rang me up for a moisturizer, BB creme, brush for foundation, powder, and a liquid foundation. $150 bucks later......holy crap. Anyways, came home, tested out everything and wasn't blown away but it did the trick. After about two weeks I noticed that the makeup brush the women at MAC, "swore by" was starting to lose its bristles all over my face! Not cool. Also, I was going through the BB creme way too fast it seemed. I went back to MAC and spoke with a different women and explained to her the difficulties I was having with the brush. She looked at the brush given to me and told me she never would have recommended that one to me and that I should try a different one. She charged me for the new brush and didn't allow me to return or even exchange the one I had purchased two weeks prior, even though I was dissatisfied. Anyways, I tried out the new brush and I liked it. A week after that I realized that the foundation color I was given was way too light. I came in attempting to return that and exchange it for another color and a third woman agreed that the color was way to light and that she never would have recommended that color for me. Talk about not being on the same page.... very annoying that each time I came in here not only was I being charged for new products but each time I was being recommended a product completely different than the one picked up before. Okay, so I'm ranting I know. Bottom line is this, MAC is expensive. I don't want to keep having to come back and buy new products because ones recommended to me by one person are frowned upon by other workers. Get on the same page!!! read more

This review is for the Bridal Registry Department: I have to say, my fiance and I were absolutely blown away by Denise in Bridal. She was friendly, and helpful and gave great advice. We were just walking through when we stopped by the bridal area. Denise accommodated us without an appointment and gave us the low down on registering. She gave us a very generous welcome bag and gave us our price gun and sent us on our way. Periodically she would check in with us and see how we were doing. She gave us her honest opinion about products and was really terrific. Very pleased. We were disappointed however in some of the sections at the Macy's. There was no one in the mattress section. We were browsing and looking at mattresses for nearly 25 minutes and not a single employee walked through to ask us for help. We had a bunch of questions and really could have used assistance. Today, I tried to buy a winter jacket at Macy's (160 Walt Whitman Rd, Huntington Station, NY 11746). According to google, the store was supposed to be open until 9pm on Sundays. As I got there, a woman tried to get into the store just like me, but the doors were closed. Waiters of California Pizza Kitchen told me, that Macy's closes at 7pm on Sundays and that many people try to get into the store, because the posted hours on google are wrong. Found certain counters unstaffed even after checking back twice, staff had to be requested from other cosmetic counters-who claimed to know absolutely nothing about products or where stock was and ultimately I was unable to purchase merchandise I had wanted, as advertised. She found me an ever better one that was currently on sale. She was so nice and down to earth. Didn't try any shrewd sales pitches just helped me in anything I needed. Understand why this location has such low reviews from my own experience. Went to get a pair of Skechers sneaker, first sales person ignored me by walking passed by me. Fine. I slowly asked for help and gave him my size. Quite honestly I just need one pair shoes for my pregnancy swollen feet. He gave me the shoes and walked away. When he came back I asked if he can check my gift card balance. I was thinking if I have enough balance on that card I will take the shoes ,even though they have less choices than online and that's is not my first choice. Then the funny story happened. He told me there is $22 on the card. I put the shoes back in the box and returned to him at the register. And I told him I will think about it. Guess what he asked me.... "why? Can't afford it?" Can't believe it.I don't want embarrassed anyone at that moment and told him I do have more gift cards at home and I will be back. He gave me a look. Be honest, I was feeling treated unproperly at all as a customer. As a manager in retail for more than 8 years. This shouldn't happened. I am not saying customer always right. I'm embarrassed by this Macy's. They don't really have a good selection of anything and they never seem to be busy. The clothing area is a mess and the lines are so long, with so many unattended registers around. The sales associates can be condescending and it feels like the store is stuck in a time warp. There never seems to be anyone around in the dressing rooms and I always feel like I have to track down people to help me. Coupons never seem to work so it feels like a waste of time for me to try to get deals, only to be told by someone that they don't apply.The only luck I've had is at the urban decay counter. After the experience my boyfriend and I had with Marilyn last night, I could not get to a computer fast enough to write a review about her. Marilyn works in the women's shoes department and she managed to make such a lasting impression that I felt obligated to commend her. Since I work in customer service, I know the significance of making every interaction personable. She far exceeded my expectations last night. She did not simply get the shoes and complete the sale, but she did it with a smile and such effortless friendly and delightful personality. I truly hope that management does check the Yelp reviews often enough for her to remember us. She joked with my boyfriend about his coupon-ing expertise and although it was brief, we truly did appreciate her character; instead of being a robot salesman, which happens more often than not. I like Macy's for a good deal every now and then however, the Roosevelt Field Macy's is so much larger with such a large selection! I find it difficult to find a register without an unreasonably long line and often come across the employee who directs me to the next..and the next...and the next register...Some depts are a bit congested and disorganized. Purchased several pairs of men's pants at this location but the sales person was so busy having a personal conversation on the telephone that he forgot to remove the alarm tags!! Needless to say, the alarm went off as I was leaving the store; I was so annoyed with this sales person and knowing that management wouldn't do anything, I just return the pants and we purchased them from a different sales person. I am a frequent Macy's shopper and enjoy the store most of the time. However, I do wish they would do something about the nightgown/pajama department. It always looks like a rummage sale. The selection is poor and overpriced. I could not find, on two recent visits, knee or waltz length nightgowns with short or long sleeves. The entire section looks like it has been forgotten and used for dumping useless, unmatched garments. I'll look for my sleeping garment requirements elsewhere.. read more
