When I called her seeking more visitation with my daughters from my controlling ex, she took the case and ran with it. She is quite busy but in the midst she called or emailed me with updates as to what was going on. Shelly fought for my rights as a father and was there every step of the way to explain the process. If you need someone who doesn't see $$ when you call and really wants to help, Shelly is your person! Give her a call and I'm sure she'll amaze you!

I first tired to apply here for help in 2024, nothing, even though I was getting through the process in court on my own I was finding it a challenge with my parental responsibilities and his school activities so I tried again in 2025 and got the initial interview only to have all contact dropped again. I finally decided to reach out to them directly and went to their office where I was introduced to Deputy Executive Director Rick Martinez who at first seemed to care about my concerns, but I was mistaken, more silence. I called for a follow up, and got a call back.....a very direct and unprofessional response from Mr. Martinez himself claiming I was a "Waste of time", "Never going to win my case" and attempted to order me to "Return the child to the Mother AT ONCE" I found the moment in a pause of his tirade of ignorance and disengaged from the phone call. I cannot say whether or not this place is for you, because they seem to sway towards the Mothers side. Absolutely mind boggled at how things here are handled, and I am incredibly eager to finish the process (I did get the final packets submitted on my own) and evacuate this state, a decision I made after the experiences I have had with this place, the State Bar and the many lawyers offices on their website. At least back home the legal system is EQUAL unlike the state seal here, Wyoming is TERRIBLE to Fathers and it's "legal representatives" could care less if their ignorance makes life harder for the child the Father is fighting tooth and nail for. Disgusting....

When you find you need legal representation it can be a daunting experience. Tyler Garrett of…read moreHathaway & Kunz, made the experience much more pleasant. After interviewing multiple attorneys in Wyoming, Tyler and his fellow attorney Lucas Buckley felt like a good fit. We originally started working with both Tyler and Lucas at Hathaway & Kunz, and together they were a great team. After a while we began to primarily interface with Tyler although Lucas was often brought into calls to confer. Tyler took the time to really understand all the intricacies and players involved. While our case was extremely complicated, never once did Tyler let us feel defeated. He continually kept us informed, and was relentless in keeping the adversary on task. I always felt that Tyler was by our side, and working on our behalf even into the wee hours! Never did we feel that he was trying to drag things out like other attorneys might do to rack up bills. Like a doctor with a great bedside manner, Tyler was the best teammate we feel that we could have had in our court. I will always feel a debt of gratitude for the kindness & grace with which he interfaced with us yet still showed educated toughness when dealing with the adversary. I believe our successful outcome was due in large part to Tyler's tenacity and willingness to pursue what was right. If you are in need of an attorney with Tyler's expertise in WY, I cannot recommend him highly enough. - Lewis Family, Denver, CO *I posted this previously, so if this shows up twice it is because I was not successful in getting the review to post.

I filled out the required paperwork, and when I went to the initial consultation with Jared Olsen,…read morehe greeted me with a deadpan expression and soulless eyes. During our very terse conversation, Jared Olsen tried to insinuate I was lying about my assets because at first, the amounts I gave included both dollar and cents, and later towards the end, I gave only dollar amounts, which I am pretty sure is ok. Even the IRS allows rounding up or down to the nearest dollar. He was just nitpicking and finding fault because he had some kind of an issue. Jared said he wanted $2,500 to create a simple will for me. Also, when I later brought in a deed that I forgot to bring to the first consultation, he told me that it would cost me an extra $200. Then, his receptionist snidely demanded immediate payment of the $200 when I left, like she was so happy to be price-gouging me. Because my initial interactions with Jared, his receptionist, and paralegal created no goodwill or trust between us, I contacted Jared shortly thereafter to let them know I no longer wanted his services and to request a refund. He wanted to know why, what happened, and grossly over-exaggerated the value of his will. He was trying to gaslight my experience there, which he and his office perpetuated. He did refund me, at least, and destroyed my will. What a pack of wolves.
