I have had time to reflect my family law case that had just finished a few months ago and I thought I would share it with some of you. Being a single Male and trying to deal with the family law system we have in this province can be difficult. Even though changes have been made to help bring balance to families, the system can be very difficult and tiring. I had four law firms that I had used with no success, huge cost and I was about to give up and call it quits, when I decided to scour the internet and find a family law firm that believes in what they do and not just their paycheck. I seen MacLean Family Law Firm in Vancouver. They had great reviews, especially Lorne MacLean. I emailed them and was surprised to get a response so quickly. They took me in and treated me like family. I was told of the cost of their services upfront and yes, they do get paid good. It wasn't long after that I could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Finally I was getting my daughters rights to be heard and most important getting results. When Lorne and his lawyers attended court I was shocked to see the amount of preparation they had put into each appearance by the amount of material and questions they asked. Lorne is a master in the court room and his mentorship towards his team could be modeled by other firms. Any communications between both sides were sent to me and I always knew what was going on. This law firm is very busy and usually if a business is busy its because is successful. If I had any questions or concerns, they were answered in a timely manner. Lorne and is team of lawyers also met with me during non regular hours of work and made me feel like I was a priority to them. Lorne MacLean or any of his team were never once rude to me or my family. I also tried to show respect to them as well. Yes, the cost of fighting for your family can be high, but how can you put a price on your children,their rights and well being? Children need their parents and Lorne and his team work hard to protect you and your children. MacLean Family Law has changed my life for the better, but most important they helped change my daughters life forever and I will always be grateful and life can go on in peace. I am currently going through a messy divorce. My case is stressful and complicated due to a major wealth discrepancy. Lorne Maclean, the founder of the firm went above and beyond what most firms would typically do, to ensure I obtained proper and professional representation, and to protect the assets at the outset. It took a huge weight off my shoulders when he said "don't worry I will make it work, we will look after you" I have been working primarily with lawyer Tal Wolf. He has been helpful, patient and tenaciously on the ball; professional and to-the-point, but also realistic and understanding of the circumstances. The display of his knowledge around the new Family Law Act (introduced March of last year) have impressed me. He promptly returns emails and phone calls even on evenings and weekends. His legal assistant Angela has been equally supportive and patient, as she spent 2 hours on the phone with me taking dictation when my computer was down. Even the receptionist seems to care about the clients - she acknowledges me and with a warm smile whenever I come in off the elevator. We are only part way through the process, but so far I feel a major relief having MacLean in my court. I will do another update as to the final outcome. But very pleased, and to date, have enjoyed working with and visiting this firm. In regards to the previous post with negative comments. I am only guessing, but maybe this was during their move into the new building downtown. I also originally contacted them during that time, and I also noticed a delay in them getting back to me. But since then the service I have received has been outstanding. A beautiful new office and great views; high-end and elegant - obviously the firm attracts significant and high-caliber clientele. PS - I found this firm after reading many reviews of the top-rated family law firms in Vancouver. Maclean Family Law and its founder Lorne had the most reviews and comments, with the vast majority being positive, and the firm highly rated. I met with and contacted 3 other firms that likewise had great ratings, but in the end I am happy with my decision and my lawyers' efforts have shown me that I made the right one. read more

First of all, I can only agree with one of the comments the previous "reviewer" made. Yes, Lorne Maclean is expensive but without trying to sound too cliche, you get what you pay for. Our family hired Lorne and his firm to represent us in an extremely difficult custody case and he worked his ass off for it. He is the best in his field and he has proved this time and time again. Never once did I witness him or his staff acting in anything but a professional and courteous manner. Lorne went above and beyond for my brother and fought tooth and nail for him and his son in court For that we will forever be grateful to him. He reminded the court and the judge the importance of a Father's role and how imperative this role plays in a child's life. Not only did he get my brother his son back but he won him sole custody, something that is extremely rare and speaks to the expertise of Lorne Maclean. Keeping in mind that most Fathers do not have a leg to stand on when taking on the legal system, Lorne never once let us give in or give up, and neither did he. My brother and our family went into this knowing we were right and what was best for his son, but proving that to everyone else is a gruelling process. I am so glad that we had Lorne in our corner and would never think twice about the decision we made to go with him. Yes, we could have been represented by someone with less fees but really, when we are talking about your child, why would you buy 2nd best and not THE best??? Please hire one of the other lawyers at this firm and not LORNE MACLEAN! Lorne MacLean is a bad lawyer. He over bills for files and he is RUDE to clients and to his poor staff! I was a client going through divorce in 2008 and I witnessed him yelling at his support staff and throwing tantrums like a baby. I lost everything in my case and was slammed with a bill OVER 100k! Most of my retirement savings went to pay his bill and I had to sell my house. It is absurd that he has not been disbarred. MacLean is lazy. He delegates his work to other lawyers and takes credit. I have never felt so insulted in my life and in a time when I was so vulnerable, he took advantage of me! read more
