Yeager Employment Law was one of them and I met with Brendan Harvey. It was clearly evident he'd already looked through the initial documents I provided in advance and understood my situation. He helped me understand what to expect if I proceeded and also emphasized that he would advise me but all the decisions would ultimately be mine. After the initial consultation, I retained him as my lawyer and he got to work writing a demand letter that explained why the company's actions were unlawful with several case law citations to back it up. He graciously accepted my feedback on the draft and changed the letter so that I was fully satisfied with it. The employer and their lawyer dragged things out for an awfully long time, but Brendan stayed on top of things and made certain I didn't miss the deadlines to file a court case or tribunal complaint if necessary. He also handled negotiations expertly, refuting the employer's arguments with both citations and logic. The times I chose not to follow his advice were few and far between, and he stayed true to his word that the decisions were mine to make. Email is by far the easiest way for me to communicate and he always accommodated that with prompt responses and no phone calls. He was always very respectful of what was important to me as we negotiated a settlement, even when I changed my mind about something later. It was a very challenging negotiation for reasons that don't belong in a public review, but it was SUCH a relief to have Brendan in my corner advocating for me the whole time while I was in a vulnerable situation. We ultimately reached a settlement I could live with, and although I spent quite a bit on legal fees, I feel it was money very well spent. Brendan was conscious of how legal fees can eat into settlement or court awarded funds and he looked out for my wallet, not just his own. He took SO much stress off my shoulders and I consistently felt heard and respected. I suspect there aren't a lot of positive reviews for most employment lawyers because clients often end up signing NDAs as part of a settlement. Because it was important to me, he pushed back against the employer's desire for a broad confidentiality clause and I'm not contractually silenced. I hope I never need an employment lawyer again, but there is NO question that I'd seek out Brendan to represent me if ever I do. He's a professional who genuinely cares about his clients and helping them get through tough situations. For me personally, the MOST important thing was to not let the employer walk all over me, and Brendan made sure my legal rights were protected and exercised. I'm incredibly glad I found Yeager Employment Law and chose them to handle my case!

The consultation felt dismissive, impatient, lacking in practical advice, and he provided incorrect legal information that could have caused me to lose my claim. The issue I had was related to a diagnosed condition, which he referred to as "ahaha I don't even know if that's a valid condition but sure, let's say if it is-" Then he gave me incorrect legal advice about Human Rights Tribunal filing deadlines that would have resulted in me filing prematurely with incomplete facts. I asked straightforward questions about strategy, including whether a lawyer letter was worthwhile, whether a human rights complaint should be filed first, and what kind of settlement range might be realistic. I left the call with almost no useful direction other than a mocking tone and a disrespectful attitude from Chris. Chris clarified that this is the universal attitude he gives all his clients, which was a very refreshing thing to hear. Update: After filing a formal complaint about Chris Forguson's conduct with Access Pro Bono, they demand I remove the review. I declined, as the review is factually accurate and serves to inform future clients.
