She helped salvage my hair for the wedding with a specific treatment schedule and boy am I grateful. The day of the wedding, I loved my whole look. I recently was in a wedding and the bride hired Mack Stylist to come to our hotel room and do the bridal party's hair and makeup. I am rating 3.5 (okay 4 by default) stars as an average. I feel like I need to write two separate reviews because I had two different experiences. Here's why. Makeup: 5 stars! Lakisha was absolutely amazing. She was very professional, funny and sweet. She transformed everyone to look even more beautiful than they already were. The bride requested a "natural" look for the wedding and she delivered. I had the pleasure of getting my makeup done at 8am and the wedding ceremony wasn't even until 4pm. After getting my makeup done I hung around the hotel room with the girls, ate breakfast and then lunch. Before Lakisha left she touched up my makeup but I was surprised that I didn't really need any touch ups, just a little reapplication of my lipstick (which she just used lip liner with a gloss on top). I did not decide to use airbrush makeup because it was an additional $50. In the end I am glad I did not use the airbrush because I could not tell the difference between airbrush/non airbrush within the bridesmaids. My makeup stayed on all night and even pictures taken at midnight looked just as good as 8am. Lakisha even gave the bride a little container with the lip color she used so she could reapply throughout the night. She also used all MAC makeup which is my favorite! Hair: 2 stars. Mack styled the bridal party's hair. Again, I was the first so it was important that my hair style not only make it throughout the day, ceremony and reception, but we also had the added bonus of rain. I really had no ideas what I wanted for my hair and the bride's only request was that the bridesmaids get an updo. I spoke to Mack about styles I like in my hair (I mentioned I like a side braid or braids in general) and she suggested a sexy, romantic hairstyle with loose curls. Sounded great to me! She curled my hair and I could tell that she was playing around with it to see exactly where it would fall. In the end, my hair looked great, lasted all day and I received a ton of compliments. She even curled the few pieces in the front before she left as a touch up and applied a ton of hairspray. Unfortunately some of the other girls did not have such a pleasant experience with Mack. She did have a bit of an attitude with some of the girls and a bit of an ego. One of the clients was not happy with her hair and instead of explaining that the hairstyle the client wanted wouldn't work, she just did what she wanted to do. When confronted about the hairstyle (which in my opinion was really bad..) she had an attitude but agreed to restyle the hair. The second hairstyle was much better and the client was happier. Mack does good hair, that's obvious. I was just taken aback by the unprofessional nature. The total for my hair and makeup was $165 (lashes were an extra $20) and only cash or check was accepted. read more

For our wedding day, I didn't feel like running around to salons so looked into on-site hair and makeup. After looking at photos and reviews of various stylists, I set up a trial with Mack Stylist. Even though we didn't settle on my final look during the trial, I felt confident that they could do a good job and booked them shortly after. Nicck and Alison did makeup and hair for me, my mom, and bridesmaids on the day of my wedding. My MOH called them wizards, and I'd have to totally agree. They were laid back and easy to be around but did an excellent job on every one of us. I gave very vague direction for both hair and makeup, and both turned out better than I could have hoped for. After crying like a mess at numerous weddings in the past, I asked Nicck about running makeup. He said "girl, my makeup doesn't move." SO TRUE. I cried, and not so much as a smudge of eye makeup or anything. There are pictures of me from 2am where, aside from looking drunk (celebratory tequila was necessary!), I still look pretty fantastic more than 14 hours after the makeup was applied. Though it was sometimes difficult to get a response to email right away and Mackenzie seems very busy at times, I'd wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. Mack Stylist was amazing and totally worth it!! I had originally booked someone else for hair and makeup with a recommendation from a friend that had gotten married about 6 months before me. I had already done my trial and everything. About 2 months before my wedding, they canceled on me with no explanation! I got a last minute recommendation for Mack from one of my friends who models and has worked with Mackenzie on photo shoots. Mackenzie was great from the start. She was very good about getting back to me promptly so I could get everything set up and confirmed. I was a little worried because I was an out of town bride and wouldn't be returning to Philly until my wedding weekend so I had no time for a trial. In the end it didn't matter. I had Mackenzie for hair and Nicck for makeup. They were both so professional and did a great job. I loved my wedding hair so much - it was even better than the trial hair I had gotten by my original stylist by a landslide. She did a great job on my bridesmaids and the mom's as well. And as far as makeup went with Nicck, I've never felt prettier in my life and he made the entire wedding party look absolutely gorgeous as well. I was a little concerned with the price and ended up spending more than I had originally budgeted for since I was buying hair and makeup for everyone but in the end it was 100% worth it and I wouldn't change one thing! I got my hair and makeup done by Mack for my wedding and it was an amazing experience, but in this case I wanted to write about their hair coloring and styling services, because not enough people write about this fantastic aspect of the business! Mack came in on a weekend to cut and shape my hair. I trusted her to help me when I wanted to cut my hair short (a huge transition!!) and she didn't let me down. This is probably the best hair style I've ever had and when I went in today to get it trimmed, I came out with it looking exactly how I had wanted it! Mack is great at listening to what you say and knowing what you want. She also gives amazing suggestions for styling and care without pushing products on you (although she does have a bunch of great, good quality things in the studio if you need product.) We live right down the street from Mack, but I wasn't sure if they just did events and weddings so I emailed them and it turns out they do regular cuts as well. I moved to the Philly area almost 3 years ago and have bounced around from stylist to stylist unable to really find one that worked for me. In part it was probably my fault for not being able to fully articulate what wanted, even if I did bring pictures. What I really appreciated about Mackenzie is that she took the time to really talk to me and figure out what I was looking for, she listened to what my routine is and gave me some tips on things I could do that might help me get the results I want. I've had the hair cut for a couple of days now and I'm really happy with it, I've styled it a couple of different ways and just done my normal routine with it. She's great at what she does and asks a lot of questions and makes suggestions to customize a style that works for you. She tried to save me from impulsively chopping off my long hair by giving me a medium length cut and offering to have me back within the week if I still wanted it shorter. All I can say is "wow"! Two days ago I was a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding, and came to Mack Stylist for an updo. Just two weeks before the wedding, the bride was unsatisfied with her experience at her first salon choice, so we were scrambling to find a new place. I had been to Mack Stylist for my last haircut and loved it, so I contacted them on a whim. I fully expected everyone to be booked so close to the wedding, but we were getting desperate. Amazingly enough, Mackenzie had a couple open appointments! She made the bride look like some kind of movie star, and I couldn't believe how quickly she turned my hair from a frizzy mess into a romantic updo. Mackenzie was also super accommodating, squeezing in a last minute appointment for the maid of honor (literally, she asked about it while Mackenzie was still working on the bride), who had previously planned to do her own hair and ran out of time. Mackenzie and Jess were a dynamic and mega creative team. I think what I loved most about Mack Stylist was their ability to take my original idea and just make it a work of art. It was no longer the Kiera Knightly hair style I found but they transformed it into an original "Aimee" look. I have never felt more beautiful in my whole life and my bridesmaids and mother were all stunning compliments to the overall look. I didn't feel overly made up either, it was super retro chic but I still felt like me which is how every bride should feel. Apart from the beauty aspect Mack and her team are incredibly professional and the line of communication was always open. If you hire Mack Stylist, and you really should, one thing I would recommend is to not be too controlling. They are pros and know what they're doing. After looking and looking for a place to get my hair and makeup done, I found Mack Stylists. I was quite last minute and a friend assured me I'd be much happier if I found someone who came to me rather than running around to salons on my wedding day. She was right!! Mack and her makeup artist Nick were completely delightful to work with, fun and funny and kept the mood light hearted. I personally don't wear a lot of makeup so it's always a bit jarring seeing my face all done up, but Nick totally knew what he was doing! It stayed on for a solid 11 hours, lipstick included, and I felt great... and the photos from the day turned out gorgeous (I am not the most photogenic person). As for the hair, I wasn't the best at describing what I wanted.... yet somehow Mack absolutely nailed it. My hair was elegant, perfectly suited for the overall look, and I felt totally comfortable in my first updo of 12 years. One last thing to mention... Mack was moving offices, but gladly accommodated my needs by having me at her home for the trial. If that doesn't speak enough to her professionalism, she was always prompt in her responses to my inquiries and upfront with her prices.
