Once again, she asked a few questions about how I was feeling and where I was feeling it. She was most interested in how I had responded to the first massage two weeks before. In fact, my lower back, legs and shoulders responded well last time, and I was ready for another strong stretching and deep tissue therapeutic hour. This time, except when I had to interact with her by resisting her pushing/pulling, I was more relaxed and was able to zone out and go somewhere within while she worked her magic. Marla dug deeper into my thighs which had absorbed the result of two herniated discs. Painful, but necessary to relieve stress and increase flexibility. Torquing my hips and legs to open space between my discs. Leaning her weight into my folded knees to help loosen the perpetual tightness in my lumbar spine. The time passed quickly, but at its end I felt great, and almost intoxicated from the work done. The spa allowed me to sit in a quiet room for a few minutes until that sensation ended. Slept like a baby last night. PRO TIP - Marla actually works in several locations, just call her to find where is most convenient for you.

It is clean and comfortable without luxury spa personality. The massage room I was in was more or less the same as every other spartan treatment room I have ever been in - massage table, soft lights, clothing hooks and a curtain for a door separating it from the lobby. My masseuse was from Guangzhou and had been trained there, and picked up practical techniques on the job. She had strong hands, and knew how to use her elbows, forearms, knees and feet to dig into my shoulders and back. I felt my joints groan as she applied her focused assault on my aching muscles, ligaments and tendons. My 60 minute session became 90 as she worked her knuckles into the bottoms of my feet and balanced her weight on my midback. It was worth the extra charge to let her dig and prod until the knots released and I felt my spine relax and straighten. I certainly would visit here again. I went 2x in the last two weeks and was highly disappointed at how much the people who work there talk to one another while providing service. Or the workers who aren't actively massaging are talking very loudly and doing other work that always seems to include loud banging. I think they need to enforce a whisper rule and they need to better train their therapists for a more consistent experience. In addition to that their basement smelled like cigarette smoke when I went recently which was gross. I said something and someone just sprayed something in the air. I recently had Ada and she was phenomenal especially if you like a deep tissue massage. I know I am paying for what I get and yes I will continue to go back but how they care for the building and how their staff act are basic elements they need to address.
