During the lead up to our hearing, they were in constant communication with us, made sure we knew exactly what to expect and helped us gather all of the information both they, the Ad Litem (Court appointed attorney) and the judge needed. Flash forward... I can NOT believe how supremely prepared Caitlan Haney Johnston (our attorney) was for the Probate Hearing. Both the witnesses and I were thoroughly prepped for the testimony we would be expected to give and, by the time we walked into the courtroom, we were all completely comfortable with what to expect. The hearing went exactly as we were told it would by Caitlan and she stayed with us to make sure all of the post hearing paperwork was filled out correctly including the stamped copies of the judge's orders. Two hours later, still no phone call or email response. Since I have worked with the public for many years as an intake specialist for law firms and other businesses I understand the importance of making contact with a PNC because you are just one business of several that that particular person is reaching out to. I for one, on the other hand research businesses by their reviews. I even went as far as to email Lisa AGAIN and inquire if their office in SA was in search of part-time help. Never heard back for an appointment or a courteous response. If a business has too much work to take on more why don't they let people know that in the automated email or even better attach a referral list to their automated email and just take it down once they are in a better place to take on business. It is difficult enough to find businesses that specializes in the LGBT Family Services but when you go as far as to advertise it and then drop the ball it is really disheartening because it is not like we have an unlimited amount of specialty businesses to pull from. Then, without any meaningful communication or discussion, I received an email stating that they were dropping my case because it was not financially worthwhile for them. I understand that not every case is a fit for every firm, but I expected at the very least the courtesy of a phone call and a conversation with an attorney before a decision was made. After six months of waiting, receiving a brief email instead of a personal explanation felt dismissive and unprofessional. Clients deserve communication, respect, and transparency -- regardless of the potential financial value of their case.
