The fire tower is an absolute must, and although there are trails to take to reach the fire tower, I love the drive through the forest, the best. Since many are visiting the fire tower along with Seneca point I always try and visit earlier in the mornings when there's not a lot of people. I also am a fan of the lodging in the area. The cabins (River & McBeth) are very affordable & comfortable and sometimes we even stay nearby in Brookville. A lot to book up fast but they do have availability from time to time so even if its last minute, still check their websites. The sawmill is so fun to shop at as well as Parkers Indian trading Post. We love Cook Forest & will always return!!

If you're the hiking type, there are 52 miles of trails to explore. If you're a birder, you'll definitely want to grab your binoculars and check out different parts of the park, as numerous birds inhabit the forest. If you prefer spending a day on the water, you can go swimming in the Clarion River, as well as rent kayaks, canoes, and river tubes. It's not hard to find a good spot to fish, and in the winter you can also enjoy cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, and ice-skating. In my case, Cook Forest is just a couple of hours away - a day trip isn't out of the question. Still, it's so much nicer to spend an entire weekend in this beautiful place. Fortunately, that's pretty easy to do! Campgrounds and log cabins alike are available within the park. The cabins are very popular, but have no fear: there are hotels within driving distance of the park as well. Do keep in mind that cell service is not guaranteed here; this is totally OK in my book, but it does mean that having a rough idea of where you'll be driving is essential. Grab a map or write down some directions from Google Maps - then go forth and enjoy your time in this beautiful place!

*Perfect place to re unite with family CANT WAIT TO COME BACK…read more My wife and I reside in north jersey and we searched at length for the perfect location that was midway between Ohio and New Jersey and our cabin at CFTHC was the perfect spot. "Hidden Oaks" was the perfect fit for the combined families (My wife and I + My sister and brother in law and their 2 year old twin girls and 7 year old son plus the fact that my sister in law is 8 months pregnant so we are a tough group with multiple needs. Hidden Oaks was roomy and comfortable, offering both families their own space in addition to excellent common areas which made relaxing by the fire, watching a movie, or just sitting on the back porch swing watching the snow fall with all of us together and laughing a weekend to remember, and well worth the price. We were delayed in NJ in midst of a snowstorm so we arrived after midnight and the staff had a key waiting as well as a map to the cabin which we found easily. Every one we met couldn't have been nicer. My advice would be to review the list of what they recommend to bring. The cabin had everything we needed pots, pans, cork screw, wine glasses etc....we are already planning our trip back in a couple months. Great people,Great place, great time, great price.

No air conditioning makes this cabin a little too humid and so nothing dries inside (like your hair). The lighting is poor, with dim yellow light bulbs. Also it is very dog friendly here. This was the first season the campground, and the 11 full hookup sites were well equipped with a gravel pad, fire ring, and a large wooden picnic table. A large play-set for children and a lake to fish in are ready to use. There is a lot of room between sites, and tall trees provide partial shade. The setting is close to a quiet rural road where Amish buggies frequently go by. A farm with donkeys and a horse is at the back of the sites. There is one private full bathroom with a shower, and one private toilet. Lake Lucy is only 15 minutes drive to the hiking trails of Cook Forrest State Park. There are several rail trails for biking nearby, and the Drake Oil Well State Historic Park in Titusville. Drake's well was the first commercially successful oil well in the world! Our hosts were amazing and open to communication. Firewood is available to buy at the campground. Nearby trails are the Route 66, Oil City, Samuel Justus, and Allegheny National Forest Trails.

Following the passing of the founder the park underwent significant changes with the removal of amusements, trains, and the zoo. Now, after years of cherished private use, we are thrilled to open our gates once more to the public! Our campers can indulge in a myriad of activities, including fishing, biking, and swimming in the serene waters. Both ponds offer an angler's paradise, boasting bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, and carp. The top pond, in particular, has yielded impressive bass catches. Conveniently located just a few miles away from a dollar store for any needed supplies, with a nearby gas station at the end of the road, our site provides easy access to essential amenities. Moreover, we are a short drive from Cook Forest and the Tionesta Reservoir, ensuring a wealth of recreational opportunities for our guests. On-site facilities include water access for campers and a well-appointed bathhouse, featuring a full bathroom with a shower and an additional half bath.

My wife & I had tent camped here a few times & stayed in a cabin once well over a decade ago, and it lived up to and surpassed the fond memories! Everyone we encountered form the owners/staff to the other campers was really friendly. The cabin was spacious, clean, And incredibly cozy. We had a really nice warm welcoming basket with some treats & a note. I absolutely loved the view out of this cabin. All the amenities! The dog park was fantastic to let our girl run around. We all had fun in the game room, especially with the air hockey table and the ring game on the wall. The kids loved the pool, the Gaga Ball pit, & the hot tub. My son & I played the giant chess game. It was great to buy firewood right on site, the store is stocked up on everything you might forget, and the ice cream hit the spot! We did a lot of cooking over the campfire, but breakfast was great with the oven/stovetop and provided pots/pans/etc. We hope to be back soon & often! Came here to review & found my OLD one from March 24, 2013! (Full text below.) We've been to this campground a few times for tent camping over the summer, and we just stayed in a cabin for the first time this past weekend. We stayed in the Allegheny cabin, and it was awesome. Gambling that the first weekend in Spring would be good weather, we lost. The ground was snow-covered, but it certainly didn't put a damper on the weekend. The cabin was beautiful, cozy, warm, and incredibly clean. The kitchen area was well stocked with an assortment of cookware and utensils, and there was a great grill & fire ring outside. We made great use of the fire ring to make s'mores even though it was quite cold! The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly, and be on the lookout for one of the camp cats, Oliver, if you'd like to make a new furry friend!

We used the hot tub every day. Small oven, stove, fridge. Heater, gas fireplace, air conditioner and fire pit. We cooked at home and hiked or biked during the day. Jon the manager was super nice and replaced a chair we broke same day. He also apologized for not returning my call for 15 minutes and gave us some free firewood to make up for the minor inconvenience. I liked having a shower and bathroom in our cabin, but we did use the key to get into the shower house, which was clean and stocked. Nice place!

We reached out to the 24 hour number we were provided and were advised that nobody was onsite but to ask the people to move. We ended up on a FaceTime call with the manager who after a while told us to move to a different site that was severely un level and muddy. When we couldn't make that site work because it was only 30 amp and too small for our fifth wheel. We were told to move to yet a different site and we would figure it out in the morning. The next morning we were texted and told that we needed to move back to the original site. My wife walked over and all of the items were still in our site. The campground instructed us to tell the people to move. All though that shouldn't be our responsibility to do we did. The people said they would but instead left. After all of the issues we divided to leave. Nobody seemed to care at this point so we moved to a different campground. It was quite an experience. I would absolutely not recommend this place which is a shame because a year ago we had a great experience here. We were informed that the owners were a corporation and it truly shows.
