The dogs were out sniffing around, squirrels were squirreling. Kids playing games hunting for eggs. Bathrooms were decent they could use some work but it seems most parks fall short in this arena. Since it's a neighborhood park there really isn't a parking lot but there was ample parking I didn't have to circle the park found a spot immediately. If I was to have any con is I could hear the train every time it went by but I'm sure if you live near you auto tune it out. Other than that I'll definitely visit again as my DIL just moved around the corner!!

The park has big shady trees, plenty of grass to hang out on, walking paths, and a playground. There are also courts if you're into tennis or basketball. Help keep our parks clean and beautiful! PARK AMENITIES -Police Station by the tennis courts -Tennis Courts -Basketball Courts -Dog Park *Gated areas for big and small dogs. *Water fountain nearby -Playground *There are two areas for kids to play. You can count on this during and after every weekend. The dog park and the owners are responsible and respectful of the property. The homeless also seem to, for the most part, clean up their areas once they are forced to leave. It's the large picnic parties that seem to be the problem or the city not providing enough garbage bins in the area. Quite a disgrace to the community.

Dog lovers, we found such a great little spot that I almost don't want to share... but I have to…read more Head to Recreation Park, specifically the far northeast corner near the lawn bowling greens. It's quiet. Shady. Lots of grass. Gentle hills that make throwing a ball way more fun than it should be. Bring a blanket, park nearby (just not directly in front of the lawn bowling unless you're okay gambling with the occasional errant ball ), then relax. Watch the bowlers, throw a ball for your dog, read a book, eat a snack, take a nap, or just touch some grass for a while. My review is really just for this little corner of the park because that's where we spent our afternoon. But Recreation Park itself has a huge dog park, a playground, tennis courts, golf, ball fields, a bandshell, and even an area for fly-casting practice. Last weekend I drove out to El Dorado Park looking for this exact feeling. Ironically, this little corner of Recreation Park delivered it even better.

Fam invited me to come through for pickleball practice. I was free, and it isn't too far from home,…read moreso eh: why not. Came through mid-week around 6p-ish and boy: parking is a complete challenge! It made me wonder why it was so crowded on a random weekday and then saw the after-school program sign. That might have been it. Found a spot in no time and walked to the tennis/pickleball area. It's kinda cool they converted tennis courts to pickleball courts. At least it's being used: the two tennis courts were left empty. Got a couple of warm up drills and a game in, and that was fun. (Didn't get the chance to take pictures: I got thrown in drills soon as I arrived!) Will most likely return if there are any more pickleball practice runs!

The city of Long Beach does a really wonderful job at taking care of its seniors through this park…read more They have activities for them almost everyday at the hall that include bingo, Zumba classes, karaoke, tai chi and many others. Sometimes, the seniors even get fed for free and go on field trips. (Space is limited for field trips so, sign up early.) I love seeing the little leaguers play at the baseball field and hearing their families cheer them on. I forgot to mention that Silverado Park just installed a new playground with rubberized playground surfacing. I would suggest leaving this park before the sun goes down. The park is unfortunately known for being dangerous at night.

I usually come here in the afternoons during the week to walk my dogs and then end up sitting in the shade listening to music. The park is usually empty during the week, so its a relaxing time for me. The grass is green and there are trees all along, so the view is always nice. There is also a small playground, for kids, with the basics: swings and slides. **Beware: today I noticed a few cars parked along the side of the park with what looked like sketchy people (hence, my 3 stars, not 4).

Apparently the old man was upset that the field belonged to him between 4-8pm. The coach for other team explained he understood and thought nobody was going to use it since it was almost 5pm and was looking for a field to practice. The old guy could have explained in a monotone manner calm demenor in front of kids but noooooo he had to be heard. Grumpy old man. Oh and by the way the fields are in horrible condition. Mound was totally off and infield had more waves than the ocean. Bad place to be and bring your kids to not only because of horrible people but because of horrible field conditios and possible injuries.
