Macari's is one of my primary choices in music stores. Being a player of both stringed and wind instruments, I can spend hours in here pestering the staff by trying out their huge range of different instruments that they somehow manage to squeeze into that little shop. Downstairs you can find an affable collection of acoustic instruments, ranging for guitars, basses, and I even managed to find an odd little bass instrument that was traditionally used for mariachi bands. Although upstairs there seems to be a little lack of electric guitars (which doesn't really bother me), there is a good selection of hollow bodied guitars, banjos, wind instruments, and even the odd sitar (as well as other rare and exciting treats) can be found from time to time. The staff are always helpful and polite here, and the always make sure to listen to your needs as a shopper. Macari's is well stocked up on instrument accessories, and often have deals on things like guitar strings and reeds... etc. So if you haven't visited the place before, be sure to check it out the next time you need to stock up on strings.

Great for pre-owned high end American guitars like Gibson, Martin and even a Travis Bean in the window I loved ogling. Great window displays how they put all their Gibson Les Pauls together, they have a whole selection of high end pre-owned Gibsons from Firebirds to SGs. But they're reluctant to let you try their high end guitars unless you're a serious buyer.

I bought a friend of mine an electric guitar from this music shop. He absolutely loved it and whenever I call him, he is always at Macari's

I was actually heading to another music store on Denmark Street when I stumbled onto Regent Sounds. There I was greeted by Nick Rob and Maya. They were so super helpful as I explained to them that I was looking for something slightly different, maybe a boutique guitar. They let me try several guitars through a variety of amps and pedals to help me find the right guitar. They also help me navigate shipping it back to NYC for a fairly inexpensive price. So let me just sum it up for you if you're looking to buy an instrument. Regents Sounds music store excels with its wide selection of high-quality of mainstream and boutique instruments and accessories, sure to captivate any music lover. The attentive service from Nick Rob and Maya elevates the shopping experience. Their pricing is competitive and I feel that also enhances the store's overall value, for me Regent Sounds remains a top choice for all music enthusiasts seeking top-notch products and service and I'm sure I'll be back on my next visit to London !

I really love this shop, more to look at guitars than purchase guitars. There are some beautiful, rare fenders with big price tags. The shop definitely specialises in high quality instruments. The only problem, which may not be a problem for everyone, is the fact that they don't sell acoustic guitars. The staff are great, and don't mind if you just want to browse.

I have deliberated and bargained many many times, but they often are a little pricey. The things that I have bought over the years are mainly sticks, heads and DVD/VHS. On those items (incidentally the kind of products that seem to have their retail prices fixed by the manufacturer) which are not cheaper elsewhere, I have spent thousands across 15 years with Footes. Customer service can be patchy, but it does depend on the staff who are working there at the time. Way back, the staff were very knowledgeable and really bought me as a young customer. The range carried is not the widest in the world and lacks the custom drum presence of other drum retailers. The small display area is obviously the cause of this, but in Central London, what can one really expect? All in all, I really like Footes and no doubt will be a customer for many years to come.

I had been in touch by email with Andy, the store owner over a period of weeks discussing the guitars I was interested in. He immediately made me feel comfortable by recommending guitars that were lower than the budget I told him I had. I ultimately settled on a Contreras C-4 - which the store prices better than any online search I undertook (and I did my research for at least a month). Check stafford guitars for benchmarks in the UK. I live in Brazil, and landed in London and went straight to the store. I told Andy I wanted to pick up the C4 but unfortunately it had been sold. But he sold me the Contreras C1 Spruce top for a price I won't make public here - needless to say it was a great deal. And I'm sure Andy made an effort because we had been in touch over several weeks and had built a rapport. All in all, it was an amazing experience dealing with the Spanish Guitar Centre and it is heartening to see small owner-run shops still exists and able to reconcile making money and getting great deals for customers.
