Such a fun 40 minutes!! We went inside to get our tickets. We waited about 30-40mins before it was our turn. We rode on "For Pete's sake", and sat in the middle seat. The views of silver lake, the dunes and lake Michigan are amazing. Our driver was fantastic, he shared history and lame jokes, lol. The ride was awesome! The hills and turns were so fun. Our entire family had such a great time. We can't wait to go back next year. read more

We rode the dunes and had a blast! As part of our family get together we had in Michigan, the big family outting was to Mac Wood's where we took a fun-filled 7 mile dune ride lasting about 40 minutes. Our tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable, which made it fun for everyone of all ages. I have to admit my favorite part was when we went down the big hills and I put my arms in the air and pretended I was young again as the wind whipped my hair and I got sand in my eyes. Even Dave had a really good time and we both commented if we ever come back to Michigan we'll have to take this beautiful dune tour of Silver Lake again. read more

Great place, great service, great experience. Driver-Phil, was very customer service oriented and made sure we had a fun time with lots of pictures. The ride goes at a decent speed and there is a bit of history provided by the driver. I took a face mask for the sand, but one wasn't needed. Definitely worth the ticket, time, and trip. read more

Mac Dunes rocks! Ask for Garrett as your guide. He is awesome! It's a 40min dune ride in the sun. No hats! Just ride with your hair blowing in the wind. Frank was stuck in the sand, he has been there for years. No one misses him. But, remember no jumping otherwise you'll be hanging with Frank forever. Frank jumped off way back in time because he dropped his star Trek pendent. Lol Theres a run through the water so wear your bikini/swim suit ;) A stop at the beach for a swim then back through a forest where the deer and the antelope play. What a great time! I loved riding through the dunes and being able to stop at the water. Although I wish we could have gone through one more time without stops, it was still super cool. The tour guides were so nice and knew a ton of facts! We didn't have to wait too long to get on the tour either! Also, what a great price!!! We really appreciated that it was so affordable. What a wonderful experience for the WHOLE family. We went on a very busy weekend and only had to wait about 35 minutes. Goes pretty quickly when there are about 25 people per truck. Funny and silly driver tells jokes but also some great facts along the way. It's not too bumpy, smooth ride, with some fun ups and downs along the way. A stop near silver lake allows you to run down a step dune and climb back up. Reasonable price. So so much fun! My kids want to "do it again!" We all loved it. Highly recommend!!! read more

Our ride with Mac Woods was very fun and also informative. The driver, Tim, was funny and knowledgeable about the dunes and made the ride enjoyable for all age groups on our dune scooter. We had some simple thrills going downhill -- definitely appropriate for older kids -- and also great views of Lake Michigan, Silver Lake, and the dunes themselves. Took my fiancé and her 15 year old sister here for their first time getting a hard time about how boring a drive along the dunes would be the whole way there from both girls. Once on the truck they changed their tune as we had a very fun guide, and they learned about the dunes while taking basically a mild roller coaster ride. The ride is fun, the tour interesting, and the only complaint is you cant schedule a ride. Once there they have a small gift shop but you may be waiting for an hour to get your ride. This is a great dune ride option if you don't have the guts to drive your own Jeep, like at Parrot Landing. They wouldn't take reservations so we waited an hour. (But they have a store, playground and ice cream shop nearby) WARNING do not wear a baseball cap. So, let me start by announcing that I am a WIMP. That said, I didn't expect that these dune rides would be so fast! We got there and waited for a buggy to open (about a 30 minute wait). The gift shop was nice with snacks and local merchandise as was the outside waiting area. Upon loading the buggy, our tour guide introduced himself and off we went! The ride started with a quick trip through the woods and then the fun began. We ended up flying over dunes at a high rate of speed. The views were breathtaking and the drops a bit gut wrenching. I would say to beware if you have young children. We brought my 1 year old and a 2 year old and neither of them were fans, but all the older kids and adults loved it! Halfway through, there is a nice beach spot where you can get out and enjoy the shoreline and take some pictures. After the beach is the REALLY big drop, which was scarier looking than it ended up being. Mac Wood's dune rides were definitely a highlight of our vacation. I came to Max Wood's with a group of 8 girlfriends, and we had the time of our lives. Someone had mentioned that if we did one by attraction, that should be the one, and we were very happy when they proved to be correct. Our guide, Scott, was an absolute delight and had no qualms about joking with us and making the experience truly memorable. If you haven't taken part in this experience all ready, you are missing out! Mac Woods is a seasonal, fun and educational dune experience, that not only will teach you knew and interesting facts within a 40 minute time period, but that will also have you and your family laughing and screaming with joy as you ride in what feels like a mini sand roller coaster! Not only are the drivers extremely knowledgeable about the area and the sand dunes, they also are very relatable, kind, friendly, and they have great attitudes! It's almost like you're in a comedy club in the sand. Any age group can ride and will have a great time doing so. We have made it a tradition to go at least once a year and it never gets boring. Afterwards we let our kids climb the dunes by the state park, and it makes for a great day. I believe an adult ticket is $18 which is a little pricey, but it is worth it 100%! The back is the best and will have you lifting out of your seat. The front is more tame, but is also a great experience, and great for people with small children or the elderly. This town also has so much to offer including great breakfast places, an arcade and go kart area (Craig's Cruiser I believe), hotels, campgrounds including Yogi Bear, large dunes, dune buggy access, and Little Sable Point Lighthouse with Lake Michigan beach access! This is a great vacation spot for a family, a couple or even alone! Definitely try out Mac Woods! You won't regret it! read more

Extremely entertaining and beautiful activity to partake in upon visiting Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Our driver was hilarious, super friendly and made the trip that much more fun. For an eastern Michigan native, it's really nice to have a change in scenery. This was an awesome experience. Our tour guide was very entertaining and the ride along the dunes is absolutely beautiful. They stop and take family photos or you can take photos of your own. In my opinion the price is a little steep but most tourist attractions are. Remember hats and sun screen if you burn easily. They sell them in the gift shop but why buy them if you don't have to. This is a great adventure for kids, any age. I don't think we'd do it again but it is something you have to experience once in your life. read more

We had a large group. Our guide Alex was amazing. He was funny and had a positive easy going attitude. This ride was about 45 minutes we even got to stop at lake Michigan and splash around for a bit. They give a military discount which makes me respect the company way more. Prices are good about $18 per person and $16 for military. My 2 year old was free. This is a must do if your in the area. Unfortunately the waits can be extremely long, but it's still definitely worth it. We usually have an awesome driver. Ours this year was the best in years. I don't remember there name, but it was a girl. The ride is always entertaining. This year, the lake was too high to go to the beach, but we stop on the tallest dune which hadn't been a part of the ride in a couple years. It's just an all out good experience. It's.
