DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST…read more I had one of the worst medical experiences I've ever encountered at Comfort Dental with Dr. Marwan Jamil. I scheduled this appointment nearly two weeks in advance, completed all required paperwork online, and clearly explained when booking that I had a crown that popped off and needed either a repair or replacement. Everything seemed straightforward. When I arrived for my 11:00 AM appointment, I wasn't seen until about 11:20 AM because the office manager arrived late and the dentist was visibly going back and forth with staff. Not a great start. Once I was finally taken back, the dentist came in, asked what the issue was, and I explained again about my crown. I even brought the crown with me in case it could be re-cemented. He looked at it and said it would be an easy fix. Then, without warning, everything changed. He told me he could not perform an X-ray or ANY treatment without "medical clearance" from my doctor. This immediately raised a red flag, so I asked why--since I've never needed that before for dental work. He then told me it was because I "had a tumor." I corrected him immediately and said I do not have a tumor, and that was not listed anywhere on my paperwork. He then claimed that Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a tumor--which is completely false. It is an autoimmune disease, not a tumor. He then referenced my paperwork and said I noted having surgery. I explained that yes, I had ovarian surgery in January to remove a cyst, which I disclosed honestly because the form asked if I've ever had surgery. That is standard medical history. Despite this, he insisted he could not do anything--not even an X-ray--without my doctor completing a clearance form. At this point, I asked a very reasonable question: Why was I not informed of this requirement before my appointment? I had waited nearly two weeks, only to be told on the spot that nothing could be done. His response? He "just looked at my file." He then told me that after getting clearance, I'd have to schedule again--and the next available appointment was May 7th (another 3+ week wait), just to possibly proceed with basic care. When I expressed that this made no sense, he became dismissive and said: "Good luck finding another dentist. This is what I went to school for." Completely unprofessional. After leaving, I immediately contacted my OBGYN, primary care doctor, and endocrinologist, and all three confirmed the same thing: There is absolutely no reason I would need medical clearance for a dental X-ray or crown repair in this situation. This was a complete waste of time, a delay in necessary care, and based on incorrect medical information. I will be reporting this office for: * Misinformation (calling Hashimoto's a tumor) * Failure to communicate requirements ahead of time * Refusal of basic dental care without valid reasoning * Extremely unprofessional behavior Save yourself the time, frustration, and risk--go literally anywhere else.

Since then, I've had cuts all over my mouth from the crown rubbing against my cheek. It feels way too big, and I can barely eat or speak without irritation. My chart clearly shows I have anxiety, and this whole experience has only made it worse. I no longer feel safe going back. I'm scared and in pain, and I shouldn't have to feel like this after what was supposed to be routine dental care. I'm now being forced to go elsewhere to fix something they should have done right in the first place. Please take patient concerns seriously.

Very disappointing experience, especially for a Medi-Cal patient…read more Before scheduling, I clearly explained that another dentist could perform my crown and filling but could not do the root canal. I specifically contacted this office because they assured me they could perform the root canal through Medi-Cal. After I went in and completed the examination, I was told that although they could do the root canal, they would not use the Medi-Cal-covered options for the crown and filling without additional charges. The dentist also refused to perform only the root canal unless I agreed to have the rest of the treatment completed there under those financial terms. If the office had clearly disclosed this policy when I first called, I would never have scheduled the appointment. Instead, I lost nearly two weeks and had to restart the entire process. My next appointment elsewhere is not until October 15, leaving my dental problem untreated for almost two more months. After I posted an honest review, the dentist repeatedly contacted me asking me to remove or change my one-star rating. Based on those messages, he appeared more concerned about the effect of my review on his business than about the delay, stress, and untreated dental problem his office's lack of transparency caused me. He continued debating the timeline instead of acknowledging that none of this would have happened if the additional charges and treatment conditions had been explained before my first visit. I cannot recommend this office to Medi-Cal patients or anyone dealing with financial hardship. Patients deserve complete and honest information about costs and treatment requirements before their time is taken and their insurance is billed. Edit 08/27: The day the business replied Your response actually confirms the main point of my review: I came to your office specifically for the root canal because my previous dentist could handle the crown and filling. Your office knew this before scheduling me. If you had told me upfront that you would not perform only the root canal or that I would have to pay your office additional money for the crown and filling, I would never have made the appointment. Instead, I learned this only after spending two weeks going through your process. Whether I had to leave the first appointment for a work emergency does not change that failure to disclose your conditions beforehand. You say you called afterward to help, but the call did not get my tooth treated, recover the time I lost, or shorten the wait for my next appointment. I now have to wait until October 15 because your office would not provide the treatment I originally requested under the conditions I explained from the beginning. You also say no treatment was performed and that I was not charged for treatment. That is precisely the problem: after two visits, an examination, and X-rays, I left without receiving the root canal I came for. If Medi-Cal was billed for any part of those visits, that could also have been avoided through honest communication before scheduling. Your repeated focus on defending your reputation and disputing my review does not change my experience. You did not solve my dental problem or leave me in a better position. You delayed my care and then contacted me because you were concerned about the one-star review. From my perspective, that shows more concern for the review than for the patient who was left untreated. Thirty-two years of experience does not excuse a lack of upfront transparency. A simple explanation before the appointment would have prevented this entire situation. My review reflects what happened to me, and I stand by it.

ABSOLUTE FRAUD SCAM. I went in 9/25 for my yearly cleaning, I have insurance and I recently moved…read moreso this was a new office. I was told I needed a deep clean even though I brush and floss 3x per day. Fine, I was told 2-3 weeks we will know if it's approved. I asked before I left, "If this is denied, can I still get my regular cleaning?" Yes I was told. I waited 3 weeks, I called them (nobody called me, you will see a pattern here) and was told, no this kind of thing takes 4-6 weeks approval. Fine. I wait 3 more weeks. I call them and was told, should know in 2 more weeks. I call back again, it's been 2 months now, and was told it was denied. I asked, can I get my regular cleaning now? No she said, you have to pay $700 for a deep cleaning and if you dont you will not qualify for cleanings in the future. I called Heathnet Dental and spoke to a rep at 10:14 on Dec 1st. They said the reason it was denied was because upon review of your X-rays, YOU DO NOT NEED DEEP CLEANING. I want you to take a moment and soak in what this means. This business is a scam, that's not opinion, that's a verified fact. Not only that, but the rep told me Dental Familia billed them for tartar removal cleaning when in fact THAT WAS NOT DONE. They spent 1 min polishing my teeth and flossing. The rep said, no, they billed us for a full tarter/ultrasonic scaling service. Now I cant get another cleaning for another 6 months because of their fraud claim. My life is too short to file some official claim, argue with this scammer, etc. Ive changed dental offices. Take a look at my reviews, out of 150, only five are 1 star. I am fair and honest in all my reviews. This place is the worst I have ever experienced. Stay away.

The dentist…read moresaid my x-rays looked good but I never saw them & I doubt they came out well because the machine was bouncing. He did a quick 5 second oral exam & said I have a cavity. He also said I need a deep cleaning & refused to give me a regular cleaning. A lady then came in to do a quick 2 min polish which has never happened before. They billed my insurance for a cleaning that they never did! My insurance also denied the deep cleaning because I don't need one & then this dental office wanted me to come in again for another exam & wouldn't agree to do a cleaning. She mentioned something about a clerical fee & tried to argue with me about what a cleaning was. Then said she wasn't in the room so she can't testify to what was done. I bet if I went back there they would try to force me into paying for a deep cleaning & probably just perform a regular cleaning at best. The only reason I came here was because the dentist I've been going to for years is booked out for 4 months. I unfortunately had to rescheduled so many times it had been 15months since my last cleaning and I usually go every 6months. I'm glad I called them again after this horrible experience because they ended up having a cancellation the next day and got me in. My dentist showed me my x-rays, took his time doing the oral exam while explaining what he was doing every step of the way and told me have no cavities. The hygienist did a thorough 20min cleaning while explaining what she was doing every step of the while and advised me on how to manage my troubled areas. I am now wondering if anyone at this place has a degree or any certifications?! Are this all actors because I felt like I was being punked! What a waste of my time! They have been reported to my insurance company and I hope this place gets shut down!
