I get this is the time is year for illness and I'm very understanding of that it was the lack of accountability and empathy for my such daughter. I had a very disappointing and distressing experience at MDExpress. I arrived before closing time, only to be told by the doctor himself that it was "cut-off time" and they were not seeing any more patients, even though the doors were still open. For further context I walked in the building at 8:41-8:42pm, and I saw one female receptionist and one male a doctor. This happened in Hampton (mercury blvd location on November 27th). Before I could explain that I am a chronic asthmatic with left lung damage and was having trouble breathing,my concerns were completely dismissed. The doctor was incredibly rude, showing no compassion or concern for my condition. The front desk staff member apologized, but I was never asked for my ID, nor was I given any information about where the nearest emergency room was (unaware if I was from out of town). I feel I was judged by look with the assumption I was okay (with audible wheezing). FYI I ended up in the ER on the 28th for continued trouble with my asthma. Anything could have happened to me due to my condition--my asthma has previously landed me in a medically induced coma for three days, where I was intubated. My most recent intubation was April of this year. I picked this place because it was closest to my home. I understand it's holiday time, and the desire to get home to family. In the medical field I would imagine you would know medical emergencies would happen prior to CHOOSING this as a field. The treatment I received was unfair, unprofessional, and inhumane. This experience has left me feeling unsafe and distrustful of seeking care from MDExpress in the future. I hope they reevaluate their policies and provide better training to ensure patients with urgent health concerns are treated with care and respect. No matter the time if your doors are OPEN and the OPEN sign is on. At the very least provide assistance!! read more

Sadly I have loved this place in the past. I do not know what has happened but it started with the man who took me back to my room. To say he was curt was an understatement. I im I imagine it's just his personality but it's certainly not a personality that should be dealing in customer service and he is the one taking blood pressure, your temperature, etc. the next thing that happened the PA walked in the room and was also very, very Kurt didn't really care to listen to me. Didn't really care that I had a excruciating, headache and palpitations of my heart at all. I told her I had a spider bite and she said she's calling in an abscess which it was an abscess at this point, but it started as a spider bite, which I know for a fact. she then told me that I should not have put cold compresses on it that I should've put heat on it, although I read with a spider bite that you should not put heat on it because it would make the venom flow into your bloodstream. She basically treated me as if I was stupid for doing that and then kind of have heartedly said that she should drain it or maybe drain it I wasn't really clear or I could put hot compresses on it. I asked her a couple questions because I was scared and she was again very curt telling me I'm not here to make you hurt. I'm not here to make you do something you don't wanna do. I was really looking for information and a little comfort that this is what should be done and what needed to be done because it didn't sound like something I wanted to do necessarily unless that was the course of treatment she thought had to be done and she did not behave in that manner. She was more you know do what you want and I'm like what would you do? She said I would probably drain it so I asked her a few questions and she was just so darn mean I really didn't want her touching me with needles so needless to say I will not be back to that MD express ever again and I've been going there for 10 years often and on with great experiences I don't know if they have new owners or new staff or what but this was very unusual as in the past, I've always bragged about them and said how much they take their time, etc. PAs are not gods or doctors. I know a lot about the PA field and the MD field and I don't appreciate being made to feel like that. She obviously thought she was way more important than I was. read more

Boycott this place. One star is way too many stars. 1. These scammers billed me $238 for a covid test that they said over the phone would be free of charge. 3. They made me, my handicapped uncle, and his service dog wait over an hour after our "guaranteed" appointment time in the parking lot. 3. The lady at the establishment that eventually gave me my test results literally screamed at what i am guessing was the loudest she could scream, something about needing a day off. I don't disagree, all of them should take all days off. I genuinely dislike leaving bad reviews, but these scammers need to be put out of business. Boycott this place. read more

This is the third time now that I have been here, not by fucking choice. This place is not only always packed and understaffed, they are RUDE!!!! The woman today at the counter, not sure her name but a smaller Asian woman in whinny the Pooh scrubs, was the RUDEST woman I have ever met but it wasn't like that at first. She asked if I was the primary insurance holder and I told her my wife was the service never ergo she ase the primary holder. After she found out I was a lesbian it was short, snippy and rude comments. She was making inappropriate comments about patients walking through the front door very loudly to a point where I could hear them in the lobby as well. This woman is not the only example of the horrible staff they have here but she is the most recent and I decided I couldn't keep quiet any longer. read more

Do not go here for your kids, parents, spouse, cat, dog etc. My oldest daughter was suffering from an ear infection, not being able to breath, and a cough that would cause her to vomit. She also had a fever. Clear symptoms that something is wrong. MDExpress - she doesn't have RSV the test came back negative she should be fine. Fast forward a week later still can't breath, still coughing, and now her 1yr old brother has the same symptoms so we take him to MDExpress as well and they say...we'll sense she didn't have it we don't need to test him...his condition got worse than his sisters so we took him to the sentara hospital and come to find out he has RSV that developed into pneumonia! I expect the medical professionals to treat and care for our families like if it were their own kids or family members. Don't cut corners trying to just make a quick buck and don't assume anything and run all the test like your supposed to do because it could save someone's life especially a child's. My trust for the medical professionals of this area has drastically fallen. read more

Had a great experience when I brought my twins in two weeks ago. One had a bad ear infection, we were immediately treated, completed paperwork quickly and went almost immediately back to a room. The dr came in using a fun voice and had both of my kids laughing immediately. I did not catch his full name, Bryan I believe. Could not have been more grateful for great care! read more

A small balance is keeping my friend from being seen. She was seen yesterday and was instructed to return in the AM to continue blood work because her veins were hard to find. Arrived and called in to check in per the sign on the door. Within 30 seconds I was told that they "didn't have the equipment to diagnose me" and that I "should go to the emergency room". Within this same 30 seconds, I was told that the doctor "had reviewed your chart and recommends you go to the emergency room". Glad I'm not as stupid as they want - went to Patient First - I have a sinus infection. Unfortunately, this is the place the place my employer says we have to go for UCC. Many of the staff I work with have gone here and ALL of them say it was a "bad experience" for them. read more

I use to love this place but lately their service is trash. You have to call and make an appointment to be seen which is fine, but they are not answering the phone when you call. They are letting the phone ring continuous then hanging up on you. When you call back the phone is ringing busy. They open at 9:00 a.m and here it is 9:56 a.m. and still doing the same. I don't know who is in charge but you need to get your staff in order. Winter McFarland NP should not be a health care provide. She is rude. She loudly argued with me because I asked her a wu concerning my son treatment. When the doctor brought us back in, she talked about us not knowing that we could hear her through the door. I told her I could hear what she said and she told the nurse it's her 4th amendment right. I actually had a great experience with this place. The new covid restrictions don't mean that they are rude. The guy that helped me Michal (I think) was nice, professional and got the job done. So when you pull in you have to keep calling until they can see you. They are not letting people in the building to be seen unless it's your turn. Helps to keep from germs spreading. Because everyone knows that's where people get 1/2 their symptoms is in a waiting room. So your car becomes the waiting room. I got tested for covid and flu. They tests took 30 min. I was in and out. Here those tests aren't as expensive as in other places. I was told when I come back not to get tested again. Since once you test positive you will do so for 3 months after. Now I am all better and my quarantine is over. I will be going back for a reassessment to be cleared for work. The place is clean. I have been to many "med in a box" places and they are really nice. So my thoughts are don't review a place when you come from a place of not feeling good. Because you'll never give them a good review. If you are sick it's best to step back get well then review. I've been here several times over the past few years. The wait time is considerably less than some of the other well known doc in a boxes in hampton, va. As of this post, they have streamlined their intake process: you use to have to fill out 2-3 pages of personal patient information every time you walked in the door. It was a tedious process that I'm happy to say has gone by the waste side. This time in all I had to do was identify allergies, and prescriptions. You may not always see a doctor when you come to MD Express. I understand that not all symptoms require a doctor, and you should know that based on the reason for your visit. The facility is clean and they accept my insurance. read more

this is the 3rd time ive been to md express and had a horrible time. (i only go because its closer to where i live and when i feel terrible i dont feel like driving far). the first time they gave me the wrong lab results even after i clarified that it was all the lab results, and they said yes all of them. got a call 3 days after saying oh actually this lab result just came back as this. super negligent. second time they left me unattended in a room after getting my blood drawn and i stated i was feeling faint and lightheaded and ended up passing out. they called an ambulance and i had stated i dont want an ambulance, i dont want to be checked out by medics and i dont want to be transported. (i just have a phobia of needles thats literally it.) they basically forced me onto the gurney and made me get into the ambulance and i told the medics hey i dont want to be transported. ended up getting charged $150 by the city of hampton for getting checked out in a medic. 3rd time i came in stating i had a uti, ive had them before, id just like antibiotics to treat it. they did a urine sample and came back neg for it (after this - i went to patient first and they said it was most def positive for a uti). doctor then basically was just going to tell me no and figure it out myself and i told her that no i have one and she prescribed the same meds i had been on previously that week even after i stated they didnt work (even after i told her that!). she was super rude and basically just wanted to get me out of the room. while i was waiting for my after visit/discharge papers i heard the nurses etc making fun of my last name and how to pronounce it through the door and laughing loudly at it. super unprofessional and rude. never go here unless you want the wrong lab results and rude/mean workers. i recommend patient first in hampton instead. read more

stay as far away as you can!!! Just had to spend thousands on an ER visit because the doctor that looked at my son said he thought he had meningitis "even advised us to call an ambulance". Turns out it's was only a stomach bug and a light one at that. The doctor also new "because I told him" I had a very high deductable 5k and he told us to not wait even for a night to go to the ER immediately. The doctor at the ER told us that this was minor we could have waited.... also within 1min of the er doctor looking at my son she said that any doctor should have been able to tell that he indeed did not have meningitis on the fact that he had no pain in his neck and could turn his head with no discomfort. I cannot stress to you enough stay away from this place it has cost my family thousands of dollars that we do not have for nothing more then a simple stomach bug... read more

DO NOT GO TO MDEXPRESS!!! I went here on 9/8/12 for a sprained ankle and called ahead to inquire on the cost of a soft splint and x-ray. They said $90 but with insurance may be less. I was treated with "you guessed it" soft splint and an x-ray (nothing more). Received a bill for $182 and when I called about the obvious error they said "oh, no error, you have insurance so we charge MORE!" After 4 calls and very rude billing personnel they refuse to correct the problem or honor the $90 quote. I wouldn't go here again if i were in a car crash out front! I'd limp to the Patient First on Denbigh Blvd. Don't go here - they obvious "bait & switch" even if you try to get a straight answer about billing upfront. I'm still fighting it and filing with BBB. read more
