This is a fairly small M&S store, styled as Marks and Spencer Simply Food within Paddington Station, it is located underneath the Starbucks/Hilton and next to Sainsbury's.
The store stocks a fair selection of essentials which you'd expect to find, including a bakery and fresh fruit and vegetable section.
Marks and Spencer is a premium brand, don't get me wrong, you're paying for quality, but this store seems to be much more expensive than other Marks and Spencer locations I have visited on my travels, I'm not sure why, the "travel location" surcharge doesn't really apply, as there is competition nearby, directly next store infact with Sainsbury's.
The set-up seems to be aimed at the travel market, I do dislike how the only method of checkout and payment is self-service checkouts, this means that you are unable to use the Marks and Spencer app to scan, pay and go at this store, they also do not have any manned checkouts, which means older people who may have difficulty using a self-service machine may struggle. There was a staff member who was standing at the checkouts but didn't seem too friendly.
3* - Some major flaws with the checkout, service and pricing, but still a decent store. I wouldn't return here unless I was in a rush/tired after using a service from the station though. read more
