I retained Care-Bilt to add an extension and replace existing surface wood on our deck. Although I had obtained quotes from two other companies which were SUBSTANTIALLY less that what was quoted by Care-Bilt, I elected Care-Bilt due to a relationship with the owner and felt that he would treat me fairly....was I mistaken!!! Although the work of the contractors he hired was acceptable, this owner added NO value whatsoever. Although I had requested drawings from him detailing the new addition, he did not see fit to provide them and as a result the new addition was three feet short of what I had anticipated...not even enough room to place the furniture we had wanted. His response..."well that is what I wrote down". Never did he share with me what he wrote down so I had no way to determine that he had incorrectly sized the addition. To top that off and adding even more salt to the wounds, his final bill INCREASED the initial estimate by over 30% . So for an additional 6' x 11' deck-space plus the new surface wood I ended up paying him over $21,000 or $318 per square foot....A TOTAL RIP-OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only was I charged a ridiculous cost for this addition, for a project that the owner said would take 4 weeks, it took him 5 MONTHS to complete the job!!!!!!
