This place is the devil that lives down the street. The poutine is so, so good, but more so than other poutine, you can feel just how bad it is for you. I often feel like I've been poured with ten pounds of wax in every square inch of my digestive system after I've eaten here. I'm not deterring anyone from going, but definitely only go on a rare occasion and not everyday unless you don't want to live past 30. The potatoes are freshly peeled on the sidewalk or picnic tables by the owner and his family. The gravy is the thickest, darkest and saltiest you can find in the city. They don't skimp on the curds, although they often skimp on good service. The owner is a huge grump; he makes everyone I know who has gone here feel like they're supremely loathed for a few minutes. Meh, after that, you get some great poutine. The prices are a bit higher than most chip wagons. It's $7.50 for a medium poutine and pop. The wagon looks a bit less clean than the average too, which says a lot. Again, meh. They're open until very late into the night.

    The truck!

Ordered the large poutine with extra curds ($11). Their gravy is the best part as it is SUPER thick and flavorful. However, the whole poutine was too salty. There could of been more curds too. The fries are ok but too mushy. The best thing ever would be if JP Crispy chips poutine's gravy was replaced with this gravy...then it would be poutine heaven!

Institution of the neighbourhood, poutine is amazing though I do recommend extra cheese.

Wow. No words. AMAZING…read more There's no sign for Sasha, just a white sack that says poutine, hot dogs, sausages. There's seating in the back. Amazing. No words it was immaculate. Poutine had lots of gravy and cheese curds, every bite had the perfect ratio. Even with so much sauce and cheese, fries are crispy even after 30 minutes of eating. The gravy is so well flavored, I liked the bowl clean of the gravy with my sausage. The polish sausage was amazing- Smokey juicy and grilled so yummy. The bread was soft and melted so well with the sausage. I put some gravy on top of the sausage and wow. A MUST! CASH ONLY BTW! The lady so sweet and explained the different flavorings of the sausages :) SO WORTH IT! The best places are the local mom and pop shops! :)

Regrettably, I did not get poutine, but I did get a sausage and it was great!…read more I'm not normally in this area at all, especially at night on a weekend, but we were on the patio at the Laff across the street for a friend's birthday and wanted some grub with our drinks after the Laff's kitchen had closed. We walked over to this little stand, which I actually had no idea existed, to get something quick to-go. There was no line late on a Friday night. We got a few different sausages and poutines and brought them back over to eat on the Laff's patio. It had been a long while since I had a grilled Polish sausage, so that's what I got with a little ketchup, mustard, and some chopped raw white onions. The sausage was perfect, tasty, hot, and not overcooked, just what I was craving and very satisfying. There was only one person behind the counter, a young guy who was very sweet, super fast, and we were really impressed he remembered everything we ordered. They have a small menu of your standard chip wagon fare - fries and poutine, hot dogs and sausages, pogos, and drinks, plus ice cream. Great spot that's open late (until 3am I think) for before/during/after a night out at the bars.

The owner is always very pleasant, he doesn't skimp on the curds and gravy, plus their prices are fair. The wagon is at a bus stop for the 1, 4 & 7, and it's good enough that I see people quickly try to order an impulse buy of poutine or a hotdog before their bus rolls around. I've also seen people miss the bus by the final slamming of the door because they took this gamble. My major complaint is their short hours. They seem to cater to the work crowd because they're only open from the late morning until around 6pm. With its location and clientèle, I think they could drum up a better business if they stayed open longer, but since it only seems to employ the owner and one other person, I can understand that they'd want to keep short hours. If you're really in a bind for late chip wagon poutine, you may be able to get some at Bank and Laurier and you'll most definitely be able to find an open chip wagon on Bank and Sunnyside.

They sell Asian snacks, like dumplings, spring rolls and samosas. The staff are lovely. I personally found the food just ok, but your mileage will vary because my husband loved it. We came once at the end of the day and they were packing up. We got 3 samosas for $5 and you usually get 4 spring rolls for $5, but since it was the end of the day they gave us 6. The samosas and spring rolls are vegetarian. I was impressed by the crispiness of the spring rolls, but I found the filling a bit mushy and unremarkable. The filling had cabbage, onions and carrots. The dipping sauce though was excellent. It was sweet but had a real spicy zing to it. The samosas were filled with mostly potatoes. I tasted a few peas in there as well. The flavour was somewhat muted, and I personally was not wowed, but they were fine. I like supporting small local businesses so I will return to try their dumplings and they have a vegetarian curry with roti that looks promising too. They have a frequent buyer card where you get a stamp for every $10+ purchase. After 10 of such purchases you "get a free plate" (I'm assuming of dumplings).

I came across them last year and forgot to add the business but what better time than Asian Heritage Month? Their menu is small but they've got roti canai, pan fried dumplings, samosas and spring rolls. The odd time if you follow them on Facebook they take orders for Japanese cheesecakes which I've never tried. I really like the roti canai and curry that it comes with. I THINK but not 100% sure it's vegetarian friendly. The other items are also pretty good but when I get a craving for roti in Ottawa, I came here. Yelp won't let me add their Facebook page as their website and they don't have their own website. You can follow them here https://www.facebook.com/snackoshack/

I finally made it there today, but ended up getting take out, so didn't actually get to eat in the bus after all. The food was ok but overpriced in my opinion. I had the cheeseburger combo ($10.75) which was a cheeseburger, small fries and a can of pop. The cheeseburger was pretty small. However, you can add toppings like fried mushrooms and fried onions for free. I got both those and also lettuce and tomatoes (also free). The burger tasted good, it was just really small. The fries are also a small portion and I felt they were just ok. They smelled really good, but didn't really taste like anything special to me. However, they may have gotten soft during my drive since they were in a covered container. Maybe they were crispier when fresh. I will give this place another chance by eating there next time, so I can taste how the food is when it's freshly made. I like that the bun is plain and doesn't have seeds on it. I got the regular bun, but they also have gluten-free buns. The staff working there were nice. And I had to say the whole double decker bus thing I find really cool.

But everything is made fresh to order and they have a nice assortment of add-ons you can have on your burger, many of which have no additional cost (you only pay extra for cheese and bacon). The food quality is really good as well. The gravy is really delicious and has a nice consistency. And the serving sizes for the fries and onion rings are very generous. They also have some really interesting poutine toppings, including pepperoni, steak, pogo, hot dogs, and donair meat. There is plenty of outdoor seating on the large patio/deck area, or you can sit inside on the upper level of the bus. As a bonus, it shares a parking lot with the Innes Road Golfland, so if you feel like having a game of mini golf after lunch, or taking advantage of their driving range, it couldn't be more convenient.
