Hosea's painter team did nothing short of a miracle job. Really…read more I wholeheartedly recommend you go with them. You can't go wrong. I appreciated his teams' skills and most importantly his ethics, honesty and integrity. I recruited Hosea and his team for a risky paint job due to the unusual designer type of paint we were going to use. Also, I had a very tight deadline at risk of not being able to move in. Every painters told me they needed at least 2 weeks or more to finish it, even with a 3-person teams. This even included a large national paint companies (those who specialized on commercial or corporate buildings). Hosea's team were able to finish it in just about a week or slightly more, allowing me to move in right in time. I used a designer paint complex to handle and prone to mistake from inexperienced painters with this particular paint. As expected, they made a mistake, but owned it without creating difficulties. The end result ended up very fan-tas-tic, above and beyond expectations. And the pricing (certainly not cheap) was rightly fair and quite reasonable I think. I am so glad I selected Hosea for this impossible mission job. It was a total success. Attached are photos before/after the job. We knew that paint color could be changed and furniture is not a fixture, but after months of house hunting there were many times when we went back and forth between the floor plan and the pictures of empty rooms trying to make sense of the space. There was more than one house that had the right square footage and bathrooms, in the right location, that we never visited because the mismatched pictures didn't connect with us in the way we "knew" our home would. It was a little irrational, certainly, but purchasing a home is about what feels right, not just what is right. You might be a Zen customer if your fourth home is a Rhône villa which *could* sell the Chateuneuf du Pape wine produced on premises, but you'd prefer to save it for your guests. You might be a Zen customer if you feel compelled to spend $200,000 on a modest backyard landscape. I'm sure that their work is beautiful (which is why i defaulted to 2 stars) - their portfolio is gorgeous, which is why we had engaged them to put together a proposal for our flat, grassy yard to spruce it up a bit. After a long delay with much confusion about whether they received the payment to begin the proposal, and after sending in the signed contract several times over to different people, I almost fell over when I learned that the modest drawing without specific details they put together was priced at $5,000 with an estimated 40 hours of work put into it. When queried how it could possibly have taken 40 hours to put said design together, I was informed that I was lucky they did not charge for travel. Ah. Thanks guys! You didn't charge me for the travel to the place you regularly come to work. Really appreciate it. The actual proposal came through at $200,000 (!!!!), even though the budget we had discussed was up to $100,000 (which I thought was way too much to begin with, but could swallow if it was spectacular). I know you can't see our backyard, but it's perfectly fine - our house is a recently-bought new construction, and the landscaping is fine but just a little boring. For context, other proposals for similar, less precious, designs have come in around $30,000 by using more native plants, repurposing plants we already have rather than ripping out everything, and not using top of the line stones for the hardscaping. Bottom line, I'm sure their work is beautiful, but you will pay through the nose and then some.

Zen Associates is doing a complete landscaping job on the house next door to me in Cambridge. My…read morecomplaints are many. They started work - loud work - on a Saturday morning 2 hours before Cambridge allows work to start on a Saturday. When my neighbor approached them, the person in charge said, "What are you going to do about it?" And they went back to work. It took my calling the police to get them to stop. Today, they were parked blocking my driveway so that I could not get back in. When I asked the person to move, he told me he parked there because there was no other place to park. He only moved to allow me into my driveway when I insisted. And finally, the workers throw their trash and water bottles around, several on my property. Whether they do good work or not, a company that does not insist that their workers respect the neighbors where they are working is not worth hiring.
