She and her team helped me manage it in a very professional, well documented and complete manner. Some things worth pointing out to anyone considering contacting Ms. English to help with their estate. 1. She is punctual. This may seem like a small thing, but I was dealing for the most part with everything remotely, so when I flew in to town I was usually very time constrained. I was never left waiting and never canceled upon. 2. She is professional. All items where handled with the highest level of competence and expertise and I never had the slightest worry during the process. 3. She is meticulous. All records for appraisals/valuations, sales (item by item), donations and expenses where methodically kept and available for review. Additionally, I requested that at the end of the sale that she manage the cleanup of the property and I can't imagine someone else being able to do a better job. When I interviewed real estate agents they all commented on the cleanliness of property and noted that it would require no further work to be ready for market. 4. She produces results. Based on review of the documentation after the sale, Ms. English was able to sell a very large percentage of the items in our estate, and at a much higher value per item than I anticipated. Items not sold were valued and arranged to be donated with receipts provided for donations.

She told me yes and mentioned a tip for the person who helped. A gentleman then helped my husband carry the mirror down the stairs. At the top of the stairs, a woman who I believe is named Brittany Y. began following closely behind them on the staircase, which felt unnecessary and made an already difficult situation more stressful. Once downstairs, I handed a cash tip directly to the gentleman. At that point, Brittany took the money from his hand and immediately asked me if I had more to give. When I said "excuse me," she responded, "Not trying to be tacky, but can you give him more money?" I declined. Instead of leaving it there, she remained outside harassing me while my husband and I secured the mirror and continued to ask us for more money. During this time, she told me that "this is her business, and the employee only makes $15 an hour and she doesn't have insurance for them to move things". This was uncomfortable and inappropriate. Discussing an employee's wages and internal policies with a customer-- and especially asking for more money--is highly unprofessional. I did apologize just to end the interaction, but the situation should never have escalated this way. I was willing to tip for help, but being pressured repeatedly and having the money taken from the employee was unacceptable. While I appreciate the help from the gentleman, this experience left a very negative impression. If employees are not supposed to assist with moving items, Brittany could have said something before they started down the stairs.

The clock's movement hadn't been serviced in over 116 years according to the 2 November 1910 inscription on the pendulum bracket by its previous servicer. Also, the clock's marble base was missing most of the Roman numerals that were formerly attached to it to serve as the dial. Bernie Maya of Chappell Jordan completely cleaned and serviced the movement and bell such that the clock mechanism now looks brand new and the clock runs like new. Bernie also polished the marble and installed new Roman numerals for the dial on the clocks marble block. What a magnificent job ! Chappell Jordan hit it out of the ballpark again !

Whatever you do stay away from Lyn Huck estate sales! Today at one of her sales I asked for a dollar off an extraordinarily over priced item. The dyed sky blue haired throw back from the 1950's, told me in no uncertain terms: "I don't stand here all day to give out discounts to everyone". And in order to get that $1.00 off she said I would have to spend at least $2500 in cash or debit. She kept on to tell me: " There's not enough booze or Xanax to make me give out discounts to every single person that comes to my sales". Yikes! I couldn't help but wonder if her clients have seen her in action. If this is the way she treats someone just wanting a buck off an old crowbar how does she treat serious buyers? I was polite to this woman and needless to say there were numerous people that witnessed this. I took the crowbar back to the garage and left. Once outside three people came up to me and commended me on how I kept my composure. They bought nothing, citing high prices and bad attitude. The policewoman at the door was awesome! read more

We went to a Lyn Huck sale 1-17-15. After we entered the estate and after we had been looking around a for a few minutes, a uniformed female Houston police officer informed my wife that they check all purses and handbags before leaving the sale. There was no posting on the front entrance about any policy with hand bags. As we were leaving, we saw the police officer stop a little old lady that was probably in her late 70s, grab her very small hand bag, open it and look. I think the old lady didn't realize what was happening and was still proceeding towards the door and realized she was hung up due to the police officer holding her bag. The officer told the lady she was zipping the bag closed. This seemed so surreal. Maybe they will install body scanners next like the airports. My wife felt violated especially since we don't steal and pay for whatever we need or want. This ranks up there with Margie Beagle with the attitude everyone is a thief. read more
