They've got tons of parking, incredible LED lighting so the park is able to be used during our long winters, and a really innovative playground with all kinds of weird equipment you just have to check out for yourself. At the back if the park are other phases of the park that aren't fully completed yet- baseball and paintball. Also with tons of parking. The park also has a little picnic pavilion with grills that can be reserved for special events. This is a nice addition to south Anchorage since they didn't have many parks.

A few sitting areas are sprinkled throughout. As someone who avoids small talk and parent interactions, I try to show up at the crack of dawn. There will still be folks here, but at least you aren't elbow to elbow. It's difficult to bring my kids to these swimming areas without the intention of swimming. I prefer for my kids to swim at Little Campbell Lake (near Kincaid Park), instead.

It's almost an entire city block, but there's not much there. It's got some aging toddler playground stuff, but nothing for older kids. There's a picnic pavilion with 4 tables (perpetual birthday parties here) but no grills or anything. There's tons of large trees, so the mosquitos are off the chain. The park is carved into little zones by all the trees that create private little nooks, so sight lines can be a problem for paranoid parents. It's a very attractive park, but frankly, not very functional. It's also worth noting it is NOT attached to the trail system.

But this park is also plagued with chronic drug and alcohol addicted folks who trash public areas, including human waste. This park has insufficient parking- which is split into two separate locations. One is on the west side and the other on the north east side. The NE parking lot is where you dealers and users can typically be found. Families and children are more typically found in the west parking lot. It's common to see fish and moose along in this park on this section of Chester Creek Trail. There's a cute little playground here as well on the west side. There are some very pretty bridges in this section of the trail also. This is also one of the few locations where the creek is low enough for people to safely wade during the summer. The salmon viewing pier was condemned a few years ago and it doesn't seem like the city had any plans to fix it since it was a hangout for using. There are many varieties of plants, flowers, berries and birds found here, which make it a lovely greenspace for people and animals alike.

All of my kids have played here and enjoyed the offerings. Surprisingly, there isn't a single swing at this park FYI. But still tons to do, to keep the kids entertained. There is a man-made pond front and center. Lots of birds + bird poop. Lots of walking/biking trails here. Lots of space to lay out. Tons of space to hold events here. I attended some of the best music festivals/concerts with mountain backdrop here; but due to disagreements with the city and the unhoused population, the space isn't utilized for these purposes anymore. When I think about this park, all I think about is "sneaky trails"…read more I found out about it while navigating through town using Google Map's cycling directions. The bike/foot trails through here allow you to do things cars could only dream of. If you were being chased by a car on your bike, you'd blast through this park into another neighborhood and all they'd be able to do is shake their fist, throw their Ray-Bans on the ground, and exclaim "CURSES!". Cuz you'd be gone, man. It's also got a nice, small playground for the little tikes.

This a great park. I went here for a relative's first birthday party…read more You can rent the covered picnic area for $150 for 4 hours. It is large with several tables. There is a very big built in grill area inside the covered area. If you forget to go pick up the keys to the grill u can bring your own grill (which is what we had to do. Lol). This place is huge. There is a playground area, ball fields, large empty fields for Frisbee or whatever and many hiking trails. Though there is much to do there we all stuck pretty close to the covered area. There were many babies at this get together so there were no random games of catch or Frisbee. Clean up is pretty easy. There are large bear proof trash containers and even a place for coals. We threw some stuff away but hauled out the coals and some of the trash. I was pleased to see the parking area was close to the area we were using. It made it so nice to help the hosts load up everything to go. There were many nice people out with friends and family. We had too many cupcakes and strangers seemed pleased to be offered a treat. My evite said 7551 Elmore and the Web site says 8101 Elmore. My GPS in my car has not been updated so didn't accept either address. I used map quest on my phone and got there with no problem. Not sure what the address really is but it was certainly easy enough (even for me) to find. I grew up here but have absolutely no sense of direction. The next time I go back I will investigate some of the trails. They looked so peaceful.
