    Banana and Caramel ice-cream!

Beautiful beautiful beautiful!! Lyme park is such a nice place to come for a walk and see a little of the surrounding countryside. My friend and I didn't fancy walking around the house and garden...so we wandered straight over to the 'cage' (a tower on a hill with gorgeous views down to Manchester) and then just kept walking for hoooours. I really loved the 'lantern' located in the woods just above the main house...and the gorgeous views over to Kinder Scout and the peak district in one direction...and over to Welsh hills in the other. If I lived further North I'd love to come back here more often!! *It's only £5 to park per car...so bring as many friends as you can! *Some of the trails can be really muddy. Bring walking boots/wellies *The banana caramel ice-cream and hot chocolate (from the cafe) were both delicious! Oh! and of course it was nice to see the famous lake and imagine Mr Darcy emerging to greet us.

We take train from Manchester Picaddily to Disley station 27min. . The train is every hour . It would be better if you have your car, cuz we walk 10 min. To the park gate , then free shuttle took us inside the park ( the shuttle available till 4:45pm). You can buy ticket to enter the family house, or you can go to the lake and play ground were is the coffee shop snd small souvenir store . Picnic table available. Family with kids will like it more than family with teenager

My Dad loves nothing better than a freebie. He walks round with a wadge of BOGOF vouchers in his pocket. Good old Gary Linneker and Walker's crisps were to thank for this one. After a freebie Sunday lunch on one wintery weekend we drove through Stockport and out towards the pretty Peak District until we reached this National Trust property, located in the small quaint village of Disley. "How many crisps did you have to eat?" asked the lady as we surrendered our tokens. "Not many," replied my Dad nonchalantly. I think it was around 50 packets for four of us to get in for free! Anyway, we started off by following the guided walk on our laminated sheet, around the beautiful gardens and the lake (featured as the place where Darcy and Elizabeth met in the film Pride and Prejudice!). We then wandered around the Tudor mansion, which was a pretty typical National Trust house in that it contained lots of old pictures, furniture, tapestries and women sitting on chairs to help you. We then walked up the hill to the medieval hunting tower, which was unfortunately closed on our visit. The grounds are absolutely massive, it took us a good five minutes to drive up the driveway to the car park and there were still areas which we didn't get a chance to explore, such as the deer park. Unlike many other NT properties, you could easily spend a day at this one. If you don't have vouchers or membership, £8 a person the entry fee for the house and gardens is a bit steep, especially as it doesn't include meeting Mr Darcy.

Amazing place to visit we saw deer in the deer sanctuary. Had the best mulled wine ever it was white wine with orange and ginger served with home made cinnamon biscuits such fun

Here you can do everything there is to possibly do on a riverside promenade; things such as walk, ride a bike, look at the water and...um...well that's about it. I suppose you could rollerblade if you wanted. If it's a warm day and you don't mind the style your hair will be sculpted into by the blustering gales, you can follow the prom and its interconnecting paths right up to the Pier Head. If you don't fancy that, try and unearth the ruins of the 1984 Garden Festival, which lies hidden by tree trunks and weeds. You don't know how overtly creepy something is until you accidentally stumble across a kid's overgrown swing park. I still have nightmares.

What a spectacular view. Did you ever see such a coastline? Especially when the waves are choppy…read moreand the wind blustery. I absolutely love the promenade; walking along beside the river with the breathtaking view of the Welsh hills in the background is really relaxing, there's lots of cyclists and dog-walkers around and it's a lovely environment on a clear sunny day. The park which was renovated through the 'Pride in our Proms' project is Amazing. It's a mini world of Big Kid heaven... for me anyway I regressed about 10 years and was on the swings, seesaw and monkey bars, and when we'd totally worn ourselves out running around and taking cool scenic pictures of the sunset we went for a well earned pint from the Otterspool pub which is handily a hop skip and a cartwheel across the park. Go fly a kite, see the sights, play on the park and grab a pint!
