During construction, they raised their prices and ended up charging me the equivalent of the other bids. I refused to pay the final invoice when they tried to gouge me. They sued me, I hired a lawyer, and they eventually dropped the lawsuit and settled without me owing them another dollar. The amateurs did not ask me to sign an NDA, which is why I can share this. Stay away from this company. They are horrible and work with the worst subcontractors. At some point, everything they did fell apart: leaks from the bathroom ceiling, peeling paint (they forgot the primer), and electrical and plumbing work that was an absolute mess.

Designed by Carta Architecte who were amazing to work with https://cartaarchitecte.com/ We entrusted this design to Newsam to build. 1) Took 4x time to complete compared to quoted time. Quoted 3 months for a job that started June 2020. It took til mid-January 2021 for majority of work to get completed & full job was not completed til mid-July 2021. 2) Cost was 25% over quoted budget. 3) Quality of a work was a solid B+ or 7.5/10. Many small details only addressed after us following up several times. In conclusion, we've worked with other companies for smaller jobs but due to size of our reno we had gone for a larger company - Newsam, and we regretted it. Though at the end the job was done to design it was an emotionally painful, long drawn out & overpriced experience.

The employees were punctual, respectful, and clearly take pride in their work. The quality of the roofing job exceeded my expectations -- every detail was handled with care, and the finished product looks fantastic. What really stood out was how smoothly everything was managed. On top of that, the pricing was very fair and transparent, especially considering the top-notch workmanship and service provided. It's rare to find a company that delivers on all fronts: quality, professionalism, great people, and reasonable pricing. I would highly recommend Argus Roofing to anyone looking for reliable and exceptional roofing services. R. Ross Pointe Claire

In May of 2023, Carlo and his team did a lovely job patching and painting one of our rooms in our…read morepreferred colors. After requesting quotes from several different companies, we found theirs by far the most reasonable and their attention by far the most personal, with Carlo actually traveling to our place to examine the space before offering an estimate. He was very accommodating in answering all of our initial questions, despite one of us being away at the time, and we were happy to book their service upon receipt of their quote. I do suggest anyone interested in working with this company prepare to accommodate schedule changes, particularly if you have a small project, as we did. Communication with and between all of the people involved in the project was a little spotty before the painter arrived, particularly because we had two associated phone numbers; so you should be flexible if you want to take full advantage of this service and its value. When the painter did arrive, he was attentive to our specific concerns regarding the areas of the room to be patched, and finished the task quickly and efficiently without being at all intrusive. Like Carlo, he answered all our questions, and was very knowledgeable about the tools of his trade. And when, after the paint dried, it turned out the room needed another coat to achieve full coverage--something we didn't begrudge at all, as it would have been impossible to determine this before the paint finished drying--he came back the very next day to add that third coat, working with just as much efficiency as he did the first time. Overall, we were very happy with our first experience with this company, the value of their service, and the quality of the work. It's refreshing to have an updated space, and we think it might be our favorite room in the place now. In fact, we appreciated Peintre Prestige's work so much, we asked them back to paint our hallway in December of that same year. As before, initial communication after receiving the quote was touch-and-go, though on this occasion that could certainly be attributed to the holiday season. But once we had firmly established a date for the work to be done, the painter arrived as scheduled, finishing the job just as quickly, efficiently, and professionally as he did the first time. On this occasion, he was even early! As we chose a paint color closer to the original color on the wall this time, there was no need for a third coat, and our walls and baseboards looked fresh and neat straight away. I am so pleased with the way the apartment looks now, and cannot wait to hang more art on these newly painted walls! In short, Carlo and his team clearly care about doing a good and thorough job on their projects from quote to finish, and we would certainly recommend Peintre Prestige to anyone looking for a reasonably priced painting service in Montreal!

They never visited the work site during construction to verify the quality of the work being done. Before making my second and final payment I showed them my concerns regarding some cracked boards and other issues. They only agreed to redo some of the cracked and unevenly cut railings on the two visible/exposed sides of the deck (imagine various railings of different length!). As for the other concerns I showed them, they repeatedly reassured me that it was nothing to worry about. Unfortunately, only days after installation, some of the cracks on the boards (deck and stairs) began showing even more pronounced cracks to the point that some boards have literally split in two in their entire length. I contacted them mid-July to explain that I was concerned that some of the boards had now completely cracked in two, in their entire length, from end to end. I sent a detailed e-mail along with pictures taken during the construction and since, spoke to Wendy. She agreed to have Real come by on the following Monday (as they don't work on weekends). But, instead of a visit, I received an e-mail saying that they would not be coming and that based on the pictures they believe that the damages I showed them are normal and therefore they don't need to see the deck in person and will not be making any repairs. I regret trusting this company with my hard earned money. I have had to get third parties involved to help find a resolution. They have ruined what should have been a peaceful summer and provided a product that is unsafe. Please think carefully before you hire them and trust them with your money.
