below 1 star rating. we reserved a ride 12 hours in advance for 3am pickup. NO SHOW NO CALL. I called Lyft at 3:05 to see where they were and at that time the guy told me they were short handed and wasn't sure what time they would have someone to pick us up. I've used Lyft four times while visiting Louisville and truthfully I've only enjoyed one of my drivers, the rest of them absolutely fall flat. There was issues with trying to find the hotel I was staying at. Finding drivers late at night, the driver was driving away and yes... Drivers driving in circles for 10 minutes like it's NASCAR. Same thing on the other end of the spectrum when I needed to be picked up. Most of the experiences were just underwhelming. At least they don't charge an additional fee like Chicago does. Lyft like any driver service lives or dies on the personality of the driver. I have a hard time giving Lyft anything but five stars on Yelp because everyone I have had pick me up has done a great job. I use Lyft instead of Uber because Lyft (according to my friends who drive for both) pays the human being more. How much more? I don't know, but I'd rather the person doing the work get the money. Proletariat over Bourgeoise I've always been picked up promptly and driven safely to where I wanted to go. The prices aren't unreasonable. My drivers have all been personalities or didn't force conversations. If you're not a fun time it's okay not to be chatty. I also respect that they're working. I never really fancied myself a taxi person -- especially in a city that is so dependent on having your own car, like Louisville. But ride-sharing services have provided another option that is easily accessible and reliable. And Lyft has recently become my go-to ride-share service. And this is for these reasons: * I can usually be picked up within five minutes when I request a ride on the easy-to-use app. * The Lyft drivers have always been courteous and sometimes the entertaining aspect of the ride. * Lyft has exclusive rights (so far) to pick-up at the airport. The pick-up location is a bit inconvenient. You have to cross six lanes of traffic, past the taxi stand, on the complete other side of the street (nearest the parking garages) to access it. But when I used Lyft last, the Lyft driver had me stand in the median, not the pick-up point, which worked out better. * And since it's a bit of the underdog, compared to Uber, I feel like they try harder to impress. While I typical use Uber, I recently decided to give Lyft a go while visiting Louisville. Uber was experiencing Surge pricing and the closest driver was about 10 minutes away, so I figured I have Lyft and a free ride so why not give it a try. I opened up the app and input my destination and within 5 minutes my driver had arrived. One thing I should mention, while Uber has Surge Pricing Lyft has a very similar feature and it was in effect at the same time, but luckily I had a free ride so it didn't end up affecting me. Anyways on the way to my destination we exchanged some small talk with the driver and he even gave us some recommendations on places to visit while in town for the evening. The inside of the car was clean and service was great. While Uber might be the most well-known service, Lyft provides the same service at a competitive price. One major plus Lyft has over Uber is the ability to tip your driver from within the app. While not required I usually tip a few dollars due to the first-hand knowledge the local drivers can share, Lyft makes it easier by not requiring you to carry any cash around. Overall Lyft was a great experience and even though I used Uber for the rest of the trip, I am sure I will be a repeat Lyft customer in the future! read more

I downloaded and started using Lyft last week after a snotty doorman at my hotel didn't feel motivated to help me get a cab. Well, I had a great experience with Lyft. With one exception (out of eight rides), all of the cars were clean, well kept, drivers were nice, friendly without being "too friendly," the rides were reasonably priced. Service was great -- I got picked up promptly, the drivers knew where they were going, etc. the only slightly uncomfortable moment was when one driver showed up at the Expo center with the wrong license plate on his car, no Lyft decal or sign, but was waving and yelling my name. Had I been alone I wouldn't have gotten in that car. But I was with male colleagues and we had to be somewhere, so we used the ride. Turns out he WAS in fact a Lyft driver, just hadn't updated his info with the company. On the bright side I had some amazing drivers - most outstanding award goes to Miss Connie Brown who was FANTASTIC! Very nice clean car, she's very conversational and knowledgeable about Louisville and the surrounding area. I'm planning a Bourbon Trail weekend with family and friends next year and hoping to hire Connie to be our driver while we're there. She's amazing! read more

Lyft has saved my life, my license and my wallet. I've used them around 50 times and only once did I dislike the driver. The rest have been friendly and awesome. The local office here must do an excellent job hiring these people. Much better than using a taxi service. read more

It was important to us to have adequate heat in record breaking temperatures, and that was satisfied. So happy to have more options in Louisville. The mother of all dramatic cab experiences went down in Louisville. Because of rude drivers who hated to take credit cards for having to ride in raggedy cabs, once I found a decent car and driver I held on to her number and called her when I needed a ride. So when I left my hotel, a waiting taxi driver thought she stole the next customer (me). He took my luggage out of the cab Trunk I was sitting in, and proceeded to curse out my driver. I simply told him, "this is why I called and requested her." Security was called and I survived, but thankfully I will not have to experience such with Lyft in town. read more

My son and I were in Louisville last weekend for the Breeders Cup. We used Lyft instead of Uber for transportation to and from Churchill Downs. I had always had pleasant experiences with Lyft in San Antonio and Boston, but this time, on the first night, Friday, 11/2/18, our driver disregarded the directions to take us back to our hotel downtown. A trip that should have taken 10-15m tops took 1hr. She also kept ignoring the navigation, and took my 16yr old autistic son and I last strip bars and abandoned warehouses. The next day( I don't know why I didn't switch to Uber then!) our driver greeted us by telling us about his bad morning, his health problems and how he had no idea how to get around the roads to the event. We were about to miss the race.. the reason we opted to take a personal car as opposed to a shuttle bus from the hotel in the first place. He had no clue. He ended up dropping us off in the middle of an intersection where we had to run to the event with my son panicked. When I complained to Lyft-I expected a call or concern-instead, they sent me $3.00 back! I will NEVER use this service again read more

This invention is amazing. These guys show up so fast and you almost don't even have time to walk outside before they are calling you to get in the car. ..Last night I accidentally pressed the lyft app when I Meant to press a different one. I didn't even have a chance to say hello to my husband as I was returning home from work bc the lyft driver had arrived. I unknowingly requested a lyft and they were so fast I didn't have time to notice it. I called the driver and let him know of my mistake. He sounded pretty disappointed in me. I felt really bad. He told me to cancel the lyft but there was no way to do it once he was already there. So he cancelled it and charged me $5. When I realized my insurance company was going with Hertz Rental Car I was worried about how I was going to be picked up. They chose Lyft. Lyft gave me back my social life. I got older and wiser and didn't want to drink and drive anymore (duh) so I just stopped going out. But now with the power of Lyft I can do whatever I want! Because any amount you pay for a fare is worth much more than anything that could go along with getting a DUI. And the fares are REALLY reasonable. And the drivers are always nice! Maybe not always, but always tolerable, and who cares. It's much better than any taxi service I've used. I reccomend Lyft to anyone because it's just brilliant. read more

Probably great to ride in since they don't always pay their drivers. DO NOT drive for them still have yet to be paid for 12 rides I gave over the weekend. And when I emailed them to see why my account was not credited when the bank for whatever reason didn't get the deposit they just said "yes you have been paid we will do nothing see here's how much you made" and sent me the same stupid summary I can see on the app. I know how much you didn't pay me you don't have to rub it in my face. I use this service a lot seems to be more drivers than uber but since most come from the city take and average of 10 minutes to get a ride. No big deal to me better than waking. My only complaint is the place they drop me off is less than 1/8 mile out of their area to pick me so I use uber until the service area gets bigger. Lyft in Louisville is an unreliable disaster. I travel to Louisville every two weeks for work and rely on Lyft to get around. About 50% of the time the ride is ok. The other 50% of the time it is a comedy of errors but isn't funny. At this moment I am in a Lyft with a driver who showed up to get me with a cell phone with 4% battery and no charger. I am going to the airport but the driver doesn't know how to get to the airport. This is the second Lyft driver in 3 weeks who does not know how to get to the Louisville International airport, only "thinks" they can get to the airport. The previous one got lost going to the airport while using the Lyft app. It is truly unbelievable. I will be returning toUpppber, and just hope the app is better and the drivers have a clue. I am generally a forgiving person but this is ridiculous. I would definitely not recommend Lyft in Louisville. Lyft, get it together. read more

Never had a problem with lyft and service has always been good, until... I got picked up around 3pm and my lyft driver had his girlfriend with him which I didn't mind, but the whole car smelled like weed like they just hotboxed in the car, I don't even have a problem with people who smoke weed but shouldn't be doing it while driving a complete stranger. The man driving was nice didn't talk much I mainly talked to his girlfriend who mentioned they had 3 kids together. They were friendly and once I arrived to my destination I tipped $5 on top of paying $20 for the ride. 2 weeks later I had been home all day except for one hour, when I got home a note was left in my door by my lyft driving. Stating his name and how he was my lyft driver and thought I was so beautiful and wanted to get to know me and left his number and put XOXOXO. This man saved my address came to my home and I'm assuming waited till I left since I had been home all day except for an hour and went up to my door to leave this note. Mistake since my mom who I live with works for police. I contacted lyft and they didn't tell me much except he won't be (MY) driver again, and it will be investigated. That was weeks ago, haven't heard anything, didn't get a refund, the man still has my address, and I'm sure there is hundreds more drivers just like this. Lyft does not respond to emails and there is no other way to contact them. I purchased a $25 voucher from DealChicken for my daughter, a first-time user (a requirement), but when she went to use it she got the message that there is no service in our city, which there obviously is. She needed a ride so she used her $10 credit for a free ride for first-time users for downloading the app, but the next day Lyft had taken the fee out of her account. We don't know what happened to the credit. I emailed Lyft about the $25 voucher and they never responded, so I eventually cancelled with DealChicken. I have since emailed them about the $10 credit she was supposed to have used for her first ride, but no response there either. Plus, the first ride was $6 and the second ride was $13, even though the pickup and destination were exactly the same, and the time of day was the same as well. I won't do business with a company that doesn't respond to its customers. Very disappointing. We don't plan to use them again. read more
