It was very easy to get an appointment, and my first mammogram experience was pleasant thanks to…read morethe lovely technician at the East Stroudsburg facility, but that's where the pleasantness ended. I was called 2 days later to come in for a follow-up mammogram and ultrasound, but I wasn't told that I had to go to the Bartonsville facility because they don't do follow-ups at my local facility.
I show up in East Stroudsburg and was told that I had to turn around, leave, and go to Bartonsville. Luckily, I had been a few minutes early, so I made it to Bartonsville only about 10 minutes late for my 1:45 appointment. At about 2:30 or so, I asked if it would be much longer, and was told 20 minutes. They then moved me to a smaller room where I was waiting with 4 other women in my flimsy half-gown for what seemed like an eternity, with no one saying a word to us. No "sorry, it'll be a while longer." No "would you like to come back another day." Just nothing. It sorts of reminded me of being back in the '80s when places weren't held to the same standards as today, where they would just leave you to fester and don't care if you're informed about what's happening.
Finally, at 3:30, after nearly 2 hours of total silence and more waiting, I had watched all the HGTV I could handle. I found 3 women chatting in the hallway and told them it was unacceptable. I was then informed that one of their machines had broken and there was only one room available to do tests in. I understand that machines break and it's just the luck of the draw, but TELL US SOMETHING. Offer another appointment another day. Just say something, anything. Don't just leave us there festering. Where is the common courtesy, if not for your business, then just for other human beings? I mean, really?
Anyway, I finally got taken care of and was out of there at 4:00, nearly 2 1/2 hours late. Two days later, I get two letters in the mail. One says that I need a follow-up appointment. No sh*t Sherlock, I had one 2 days ago. The second letter (that I received at the same time) says I never responded to them for a follow-up appointment (?) This place needs to get its act together. They're the only local facility that accepts my insurance, so I'm stuck, but if you have a choice, go elsewhere. Fair warning.
