Heydey is a casual (shorts and t-shirts seemed too be the preferred attire) retro diner mixed with a cocktail lounge featuring dark red booths, stained-glass lampshades, and an outdoor patio. The restaurant is small with limited seating and does not do reservations but we had no trouble being seated immediately on a Wednesday evening at around 6. Our super friendly and charming server was Cesar who greeted us with the biggest smile which he maintained throughout our visit - it makes a dining out experience all-the-more enjoyable to have someone like Cesar taking care of you. We both ordered the "Martini and Burger" special which featured a single smash burger described on the menu as "Fresh beef blend, American cheese, caramelized onions, shredded lettuce, house made 1,000, on a griddled potato bun." The special was $20.75 each. While the burger was delicious, we felt it was on the small side and could have been larger. The martinis were standard size and on the strong side. The burger does not come with anything at all so we ordered a regular order of fries to share ($7.75) and the order size was more than enough for two of us. While best known for their signature smash burgers, HeyDey also offers cheeseburgers, vegan burger options, crispy fries, chicken sandwiches, wings, and house-made sauces. Bar is limited to beer, wine and martinis. Bottom line: small, friendly, casual downtown Palm Springs eatery known for its smash burgers and martinis. Service was excellent. Other than for disappointment in the small size of the burgers and the fact that any sides were a la carte - we will be back to try other items on the menu - hoping to get Cesar as our server ;-)

You're right in the city, with the rugged San Jacinto Mountains rising right behind the property on one side and Palm Canyon Drive's restaurants, shops, and nightlife just a short walk on the other. The mountain backdrop is striking (especially from the rooms and common areas), and it's easy to head out for adventures or dinner and still be back quickly. The pool area is great, inviting, well-kept, and a nice place to relax. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. We also appreciated the morning coffee in the lobby, which made starting the day easy. Rooms and grounds have that classic Palm Springs feel rather than ultra-modern luxury, which suited us fine. Overall a solid, convenient base for exploring Palm Springs with real mountain scenery right outside. We'd stay again.

I'd say the price is fair, given its very convenient proximity to boisterous night-life attractions, especially the notorious milestone Cactus to Clouds hiking trail .
