I was grateful since I have no way to go to the store myself. I called and asked if someone was available to assist me in placing my order. I was told that they don't do that. They wouldn't sell me the plants that day for pickup the next day. The reason had something to do with watering the plants or something - I wasn't real clear on the logic. I explained that I wished not to order plants, but to purchase them and my neighbor would pick them up the next day. I was told that they don't do that. When I stated that either way, if I purchased them now for pick up the next day, or purchased them the next day for pickup that day, the plants would remain in their store for the exact same amount of time. Getting nowhere, I asked to speak with a manager and after being put on hold, was then told the manager was taking care of a customer and they didn't know how long it would take. I asked that the manager call me when he was finished with the other customer. I left my name and phone number, but no return call ever happened. I guess he is still with that other customer. It is a popular store in a good location so maybe they have enough business and don't care about me or my money. Bizarre.

As someone who has lived primarily in apartments, when my wife and I recently moved into a house in beautiful Harbor Springs, we had design and remodeling on the brain. (We had been absorbing HGTV and Interior design magazines for over a year before the move.) For full disclosure's sake, my sister is an employee at Reid Furniture but I hadn't really been in the store before returning to Michigan a month ago and her and I never discussed her job much when we talked (we had busy lives and hadn't kept in touch as well as we should have.) At 41, I have never owned nice furniture and when you live in apartments and move a lot, it all becomes kind of disposable (which is ironic because I bet I have spent more on cheap furniture that broke and wore out and that I discarded, than had I just saved for quality stuff.) All I can say is that now that we have settled down in the area, I will never buy cheap stuff again and I will never purchase home decor from anyone but Reid Furniture again. Wow!!!! This store is like a museum. It is endless. When you think you have seen everything, you learn there is a lower level filled with more rooms, beds and more. There is an upper level filled with Coastal themed decor, followed by rooms that made me feel nostalgic for NYC again (the Rat Pack themed room and the King Kong and Audrey Hepburn art are on my list of "wants.") Item after quality item, room after themed room, and couch after bed, after dresser after lamp and art, Reid Furniture is infused with style, culture, and energy. It is ironic that a store I never would have visited in my younger years is one that I can't wait to return to with more money (not that it is expensive at all, as I was quite surprised that so many items were much lower than I anticipated they would be.) I always suspected my sister Amber was a good salesperson but like me, she sells from the heart and ensures that people get quality and a product that actually fits their lifestyle. Observing the other staff members during my visits reminded me of an earlier time when customer service mattered. Every customer is greeted like a friend, and leaves feeling like family. So, I'm the kind of guy that will pick the first thing he sees without a lot of contemplation because material things and shopping don't matter as much to me, and my wife and I needed a couch. We decided on a small one that seemed decent enough but Amber broke down what our needs were for space and comfort and made us consider our growing little one, and found us one that better suited us. Several hours later Reid Furniture delivery staff (the nicest guys I have ever met) delivered the couch and we were watching television like we had owned the most comfortable, beautiful couch for years. My wife and I have a running checklist of items we want to purchase from Reid Furniture and will NEVER shop elsewhere because not only is it a pleasure just to browse the store and to hang out with the warm staff, but it is nice to shop somewhere that recognizes the value of your hard earned dollar in relation to the level of quality and customer service it buys. I love Reid Furniture and I love that it is family owned and that is has been in business since 1927. I also love that it is in beautiful downtown Petoskey and that by spending my money there I am supporting local independent businesses. If you have never been in, go asap and if you have been in but not in awhile, get in there because new items are brought in regularly. Reid Furniture has a hometown flair, wonderful customer service and atmosphere, but boasts an international culture and flavor and a style and aesthetic equal to the best interior designers.

Our trip to kauffman's was absolutely wonderful and kathy was nothing short of amazing we bought a…read morelift chair on Saturday and after they delivered it the same day within a hour we got it in our living room and started regretting the purchase its a fantastic chair just so much bigger than normal and didn't match certain things and felt our little dogs would end up getting hurt by jumping up and down they were closed Sunday so I went back Monday to try to return nothing short of amazing had no problem pick another chair they picked up and delivered new chair can't give enough praise to the customer service and will send anyone and everyone to there store made us feel like family if we could give them 100 stars we would thank you for everything and a customer for life

After another night my father decided he did not want the chair at all. Kauffman's refunded my father 100%. Both chairs were perfectly good chairs. The return had nothing to do with quality. Did I mention the delivery crew had to take the chairs up and down & up and down 2 long flights of stairs? I cannot say enough about Kauffman's customer service. Thank you for being so understanding and humoring a 98 year old man. They were so very kind. I will always shop at Kauffman's first in the future. They have earned my business for life.

This has been the second time I've went there this week because they are so amazing and helpful!…read more The first time was to get my stroller fixed for my baby. The tire kept getting flat and couldn't hold any air so I took it to Latitude 45 Bicycles and Fitness and they had it fixed within 10 minutes for me. I was so happy and so pleased with such great fast and reliable service. The second time was yesterday and I had bought my daughters new bike I bought from another store (where they put together wrong) and Latitude 45 made sure everything on it was fixed properly and SAFE for her to ride! As a mother that gave me such a relief and good feeling to know her bike is good now. And it made her so happy to be able to ride it. I will come back to this store for any of my bike needs. The store is super laid back and clean. And the people that work there are very friendly and helpful. I appreciate you guys.

No one had it for 30 miles -- not Glenn's or Oleson's or the IGA, not Toski Sands, not Pond Hill. My mother had discovered this little store that sells all the unusual spices you're looking for. They don't carry mahleb, a ground cherry seed I needed for breakfast bread (ironic since we're in the middle of cherry country), but they do have most spices you'll find in the recipes from Food & Wine or the Times food section.

Lots of beautiful and thoughtful kitchen gear and gadgets reasonably priced. The sale was on and we got some good deals. Wine gifts and housewares, beach decor and pottery. I hear people love their spice selection and while i normally enjoy spices I haven't really taken the time to look at them. They also have coffee, tea and some mixes. If you happen to be in Harbor Springs stop in. I think it's worth a visit and make sure you go through to the back of the shop to see all the goodies.
