I came to Luxurious Life Tattoo this past Saturday (07/30) to get a helix piercing for myself and 2 lobe piercings for my 13 y.o sister. After seeing so many positive reviews on google for this shop, I figured I had done my do diligence and could trust this place to give me and my little sister safe, quality piercings- but boy was I wrong. I want to note that I have gotten pierced 14 different times from several professional piercers. This isn't my first rodeo. Anyways, I called ahead to see if Jose had time for 2 walk-ins and he did so we headed over right away. As we walked up to the door, Jose was standing halfway out the door vaping or smoking cannabis (can't mistake the smell ). First red flag. The shop was very dark and uninviting and the radio was up so loud I was having a difficult time hearing him talk. He started rushing me through the paperwork & told me I only needed to fill out and sign one release form and "she" referring to my sister, was fine, which seemed very odd to me. As soon as he was able to speed talk his way through the release form he immediately turned to my sister and asked her to pick out what jewelry she wanted. He said it was included in the cost of the piercings (I've never had a shop include jewelry- especially for seemingly no extra cost as he was charging $54 for 2 lobe piercings INCLUDING jewelry). My sister asked if the jewelry was sterling silver because she has sensitive ears. Jose told her, "it's hypoallergenic, if you want sterling silver or anything else you need to bring it in herself." As someone who's gotten over a dozen piercings- no piercer has ever NOT sold titanium or gold jewelry at their shop to put in a new piercing. Confused, I ask him what type of metal they are and he just says "hypoallergenic" again. Doesn't even answer my question. The jewelry he was showing my sister looked super cheap and most of them had butterfly backs which if you know anything about new piercings...you know you never use a butterfly back w/ one omfg I was still not satisfied with his answers and all the stuff that wasn't adding up. He then added, "well it doesn't really matter anyways, she can just take them out in a week and switch them to whatever she wants". UGHH? WHAT? I've NEVER had ANY piercer EVER tell me it's ok to switch jewelry before the piercing itself is healed. When I told him this he goes, "well the hole is still open" and seemed irritated and annoyed. He made me and my sister feel so rushed and uneasy. I've seriously never had this poor of an experience and the whole time I'm thinking, "How does this shop have such great reviews on Google??" At this point, there were so many red flags and clear violations of safe piercing practices I was not going to let him get near me or my sister's ears and we walked out. Point being, I DO NOT reccomend going to Jose's shop Luxurious Life. Today (07/31) we got our piercings done by Mel at Powers Tattoo Company and had the complete opposite type of experience, thank goodness! Her and her receptionist were very warm and welcoming and the shop was clean and inviting. Mel did an excellent job walking my very nervous sister through her piercings and they turned out great! I love my helix I got done and was happily surprised at her large selection of cute, unique titanium jewelry. I would go back to her in a heartbeat and I am SO glad that we left Luxurious yesterday and waited for a Mel. While at Powers today I told Mel about our experience yesterday and she expressed a lot of frustration and anger and told us how many people he has hurt, piercings he's botched, people's he's taken financial advantage of AND how he PAYS people to leave tons of great reviews on yelp and google. Do yourself a favor and go to Powers Tattoo Company for excellent service, honest workers and safe, beautiful tattoos and piercings. read more
