The main railway station of Luxembourg City (and the country), Luxembourg Gare supports over 50,000 passengers on a typical weekday. It serves as the central hub for all modes of transport in Luxembourg, including a tram stop, bus stops. It has international service to Germany, France, and Belgium. My nephew and I took advantage for our first trip to Luxembourg, taking both the costly SNCF train from Paris and buses to/from a Luxembourg village 90 minutes away.
Its history began in the mid 1800's, with the latest modernization effort completed in 2012. It services one high speed service (the one we took from Paris) across 14 platforms. There are multiple bus stops and ours (quai 3) was a bit difficult to find. We ended up all the way back to the rear of the station, and because of construction had to walk quite a way in the rain. Definitely not handicap accessible.
Note that all public transportation within Luxembourg is free to all. read more
