I went in months ago for a diagnoses of a lump on my neck. They referred me to getting a ultrasound completed on my own, which I completed. Reno diagnostics sent me my results, so I reached back out to LUX, they stated they haven't received the results yet. I gave it some time because maybe that Lux needed some time to get caught up. I NEVER heard from them again. 6 months later I've messaged them asking for a follow up on my results, and Ive gotten no where but ignored. It looks this place only goes for your first initial payment and they do not care for follow up. Make sense why they are always open to new patients. read more

I was referred by Hometown Health insurance to Lux Dermatology as an alternative for in-network services after learning I couldn't get in to Renown Dermatology until the end of June. I have an EPO policy with Hometown Health which allows me to see providers without a any referral from my PCP, and I pay significantly more for this EPO plan to avoid the PCP referral process associated with HMO plans. Upon calling Lux and trying to setup an initial appointment, I was informed that I needed a referral from my PCP despite having a EPO. After re-explaining that my EPO plan does not require referrals, I was put on hold. A short time later I was then informed by the receptionist that per the manager, the need for a referral from my PCP (despite my EPO policy not requiring this) was a Lux Dermatology policy. As a side note, Lux uses a non-impressive AI agent (that tries to sound human but doesn't) to answer their calls, complete with fake background call center noises of other "receptionists" talking and typing. It was a major hassle just to get a live person when the AI couldn't even understand what insurance I had. Save yourself the trouble and go to Skin Cancer & Dermatology Institute in Reno. They have multiple locations, they are friendly on the phone, they follow Hometown Health insurance protocols and they got me in next Tuesday. read more

I had my annual skin cancer check up last month. I filled out all the stuff online days ahead of my appointment. I got there, gave them my new insurance info, and waited and waited. It took me over 20 minutes to get there. I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment, as advised, and after waiting an hour, I asked what was going on? The receptionist said she'd been on the phone with my insurance for half an hour (which wasn't true because I could see her the whole time!) and my new insurance wouldn't cover preventive. So I said I'd self pay. She said they'd try to fit me in over an hour from then but no guarantee!!! I was furious. I couldn't wait a whole other hour to MAYBE be seen. I'd already spent well over an hour waiting plus my 20+ minute drive. So that experience ended up taking up almost my entire afternoon for nothing! No apology or anything. Horrible customer service. I had an appointment scheduled but unfortunately had to cancel the same day after my 6-year-old came down with hand, foot, and mouth disease. Normally, I would never cancel last minute, but I felt it was the responsible thing to do rather than bring a highly contagious child into a medical facility. I explained the situation, but the office still charged the $50 same-day cancellation fee. While I understand and respect their policy, I was disappointed that there wasn't any flexibility or understanding for a first-time situation like this--especially given the circumstances. ‍ read more

These folks have no respect for time management. In the past, I was served at my assigned appointment but unfortunately my wonderful dermatologist left the company & I was now assigned a PA. I decided to give it a try. The PA came in after an hour of me waiting. I told them I had to leave in 20 min after waiting an hr in a cold room half naked. That really irked me given I had to rush to make my next appointment. They made another follow up appt. Guess what? They had me waiting again (45 min after my scheduled time). This time I had to leave 10 min to make my next appointment. My time is valuable. If you can't schedule your patients & see them at the scheduled timeframe, you need to find another line of profession. This is not acceptable & totally unprofessional. 10-20 min max is acceptable but anything more than that is not acceptable. You've lost a client & I will tell my friends & family to avoid this place. read more

Very disappointing and not professional! My yearly appointment reminder text came and I noticed the time of my appointment was changed. I called the office and was told that the PA sees her first patient at 8:30am. They changed my appointment time from 8am to 8:30am and didn't bother to notify me!! When I asked why I wasn't notify me, the answer was "I'm new here and don't know". The front desk staff is always new there. Hummmmm I miss Daisy!!! read more

I came in 15 mins early, was told 15 minutes later that I needed a document that they didn't have. I immediately emailed it to them. It took the front desk another 5 minutes to look at the document. Then I was told by the medical assistant, who came into the room 15 mins later, that it would be awhile before the doctor would see us because we were past the appointment time. This is a person with a disability who has back issues and trouble sitting for extended periods that they are making wait for no fault of their own. Waited another hour for the doctor to come in. The front desk staff were rude, dismissive, and unapologetic. Would not recommend. read more

Called to ask a simple question about acne prescriptions and whether or not the office can prescribe spironolactone. The person who answered the phone said, it was "out of her jurisdiction" and "couldn't answer my question". I was looking for a new doctor to help with my daughter's acne. She has been on spironolactone and just needed a new doctor. Great way to keep people away from your business having the first person you have contact with not knowing what the business does. read more

I had a great annual head to toe skin check. PA Daisy and the staff have great interpersonal communication skills. The are gentle and educational. They don't judge you and the lectures about habits and behaviors are gentle. A clean waiting room with good open space and a great color scheme. This is a top rate facility. Come see them for all of your derm needs. Maybe they won't be blaring country music next time I come in. ;) read more

I went to LUX today. My doctor, her name was Lauren and her nurse was Arden. What a ZmGreat Team. I was in tears after almost being T Boned earlier by a teen girl driver going 70 through a neighborhood. I was completely traumatized and upset when Arden, who is a wonderful listener helped me to get my head in a good place. The doctor was lovely and professional. She made me feel very comfortable. I scheduled my annual routine skin exam. The office is clean and the staff is really nice. However, I never saw the doctor after waiting for an hour. It's so rude and unprofessional to leave your patient in a cold room wearing a thin gown for so long. No excuses for your tardiness. This happened last year also.
