HEAL Veterinary Hospital + Pet Rehabilitation - Ralf and Lisa on graduation day

HEAL Veterinary Hospital + Pet Rehabilitation

After months of searching for the right kind of veterinary care for my senior "rescue" pup Rocky, I…read morefinally found what we needed at HEAL Veterinary Hospital and it was absolutely worth the effort and wait! As context, Rocky has been through a lot over the past year (ACL injury, Hypothyroidism flare ups, Allergy issues, Skin rash, Eye surgery, Ear infections, Tracheal collapse). In spite of all this, Rocky has remained a happy, sweet fur baby that is a "love magnet" wherever he goes :-). But, after months of vet visits, pokes, and prodding...we were both exhausted and needed a different path. My primary vet and I aligned that it was time to bring in specialty expertise and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we arrived at HEAL, I could tell this experience would be different. The entire staff is extremely kind and supportive, and Dr. Martinson is truly a gem--warm, intuitive, and incredibly thorough. She took the time to fully understand Rocky's health journey, and while a prior vet even suggested a wheelchair...I know my boy and he isn't there yet. Yes, he's aging, but it's not time for wheelchairs, heavy meds, or giving up. Dr. Martinson listened and agreed. Together we aligned on a holistic care plan that prioritizes Rocky's quality of life. No extreme interventions. Just thoughtful, expert care designed around what's best for him. Yes, the initial visit takes a lot of time, the "pre-booking" Questionnaire is extensive, and the services aren't cheap. But for me and Rocky, it was time and money well spent. This was the most detailed pet evaluation I've ever experienced and after months of stress, I finally saw Rocky relax. HEAL's Fear Free approach definitely works and I'm looking forward to a great partnership with Dr. Martinson and the entire team. And, more importantly, giving Rocky a chance to feel like himself again. If you're looking for thoughtful, compassionate, and expert-level care, I highly recommend HEAL. Wishing all our furry friends comfort and care. Happy Healing!

Well $311.00 the only info I received was she could fell deep pressure between her toes. And she would loose use of he right leg. And over the next 4 weeks I needed to spend approximately $2,000 and then another expensive exam to see what additional therapies were necessary. And the quality of life for Brie was not promising. I feel they were pulling on my heart strings to extend her life -- quantity not quality.

"Needless to say I never took my cat there again, they were horrible.." I saw an advertisement on IG about ReadiVet and decided to try them, how I wish I had done it sooner. Dr. Ben along with Adriana were amazzzzzing, they were sooo nice and so thorough with their visit. They just made us all feel at ease. Adriana was so gentle with my cats and completely understood their anxiety. If I could give them 100 stars I would. They will certainly be my new VETS...

When I asked why, they blamed me for following their own instructions and then terminated me as a client. The full story is shocking. I've trusted ReadyVet with my dog, Finn, for years, and always had great experiences with Dr. Ben. That trust ended after Finn's recent dental appointment. His procedure was scheduled for 8 a.m. I dropped him off on time and called around 1 p.m., only to learn his dental was just starting. Finn, who they know has anxiety, had been sitting in a cage for over five hours with no communication. They later claimed the delay was because I fed him, but I gave him a smaller-than-normal portion of food so he could take the trazodone they prescribed. No one ever said this would delay his care for hours. Looking back, it's clear the clinic was overbooked. They were running a 15% off dental promotion (see image attached) and had "fit me in" with another vet because my usual doctor, Dr. Ben, was fully booked for dentals until next month. I later learned they had four dentals that day. It's hard not to see the problem as a scheduling issue, not a medical one. When I raised my concerns, management accused me of being disrespectful and terminated me as a client. It was an incredibly disappointing end to what had been a positive relationship. Dr. Ben has always been wonderful and this situation had nothing to do with him. My issue is entirely with how the office is managed; poor communication, lack of transparency, and zero accountability. If you're considering ReadyVet, ask how many procedures they're booking that day and who will actually be doing them.

After a lot of research on Yelp, I landed on GoodVets Dallas Uptown and I'm so glad I did! The office is super cute, very clean, and extremely welcoming, which I greatly appreciated. We saw Dr. Medina, and she was wonderful. Her calm, reassuring energy put both me and Luna at ease, which was no small feat considering Luna was healing from a recent spay surgery at the time. Dr. Medina checked her incision, helped ensure it would heal beautifully (which it did), and got us set up with heartworm and flea/tick meds. We were both feeling like brand new by the end of the visit, LOL. Several things to note: **Parking: There's a small parking deck behind the building, but sometimes I've gotten lucky with street parking **Waiting Room: Not overly busy, and they have a cute drink station with water, soda, coffee and tea **Timing: Quick turnaround...our appointment started on time and wrapped fairly fast **Front Desk Team: Super pleasant and helpful in-person and over the phone **New Patient Perk: There's currently a $50 off promo for first-time visitors (I missed it, but maybe you'll catch it!) **GoodVets App: Really helpful for booking appointments, checking records, and managing meds If you're looking for a Vet, you may want to give GoodVets Dallas Uptown a try. The 5 star ratings are accurate, it's "Luna-approved" and I'm officially a fan!

We were left scrambling to coordinate his care, and several of the veterinarians here stepped up in ways that made an enormous difference. Many of the doctors (Adamson, Hanks, and Bixby) were exemplary. They were collaborative, responsive, provided crucial resources and were willing to work closely with us as his condition rapidly evolved. We credit them for helping maintain his quality of life. They helped coordinate supportive care, arranged tech appointments, and made the transition to hospice incredibly smooth. Dr. Bixby in particular was thoughtful, engaged, and impressive in his approach even during difficult conversations. The techs and assistants were always respectful and professional. We were especially thankful for the compassion and care they showed to juniper. This deeply touched us. Bringing a critically ill cat to the vet as often as we were would typically have been very stressful on everyone but that was not our experience. He always perked up after those visits and enjoyed the car rides home. Unfortunately, our experience with Dr. Castillo was very different. At our first appointment, we relayed concern about our cat's rapidly declining pcv in the setting of nonregenerative anemia that was not being actively managed by his oncologist. Her immediate response was, "Well, she's board certified." At no point were we questioning the specialist's credentials. We were explaining care gaps where we were having difficulty getting in touch with them as our cat rapidly declined and we needed to immediately triage so that he didn't die prematurely while also wanting to avoid repeat hospitalizations where possible. Rather than help us work through the problem collaboratively, she deferred to the specialist we had already explained was not available. We were not asking her to practice over a specialist. We were asking for collaboration in a very medically complex patient. Her demeanor repeatedly came across as defensive. On another occasion, we brought our cat in for oral dysphagia. His appetite was great, but he was having obvious difficulty chewing and swallowing food. We also reported a history of pica and witnessing him regurgitate a 4 inch long sharp branch from a house plant. In a cat with already compromised mucosa from complications of severe renal impairment we were asking for an oral exam or at minimum consideration for mechanical irritation. Instead, her response was "cats in the wild eat birds whole." This was not at all relevant. He is not a "cat in the wild" he's an exclusively indoor domestic cat and feral cats die from complications of oral injuries all the time. That comment was regressive and something I'd expect to hear from a rural vet 30 years her senior. When we later asked for a risk benefit discussion about a prokinetic he was on after noticing distressing neurological side effects, the response was similarly reductive. Eventually, it became clear to us that this was not going to be a productive relationship. We needed a vet willing to engage with a complex history and constantly moving pieces. From our perspective, Dr. Castillo did not provide that level of clinical engagement. I cannot speak to her abilities across all patients or circumstances, but based on our interactions, I did not feel confident relying on her for the management of our medically complex cat or any of our other pets for that matter.
