The only remotely edible part of the meal was the dessert which still couldn't salvage my appetite. Another disgusting thing was the self service ice cream station, which I did not touch. Yeah I'm not exaggerating, anyone could scoop out the ice cream, no staff were serving and no gloves were used, which was downright unhygienic. The sanitising bucket wasn't changed the entire hour I was there and the scooper was left sitting in a mix of old gunk. It was obvious that cleanliness wasn't a priority and it was unsettling to see such poor attention to basic food safety. What made it even worse was the response when I complained. I was met with pure hostility. Nelson, the manager, was beyond unprofessional talking over me, defensively rambling, and insisting that all the staff claimed we had finished all of our plates. This was an outright lie. We didn't finish anything because most of it was terrible, but he refused to listen and instead tried to shift the blame. No direct apology, no offer to make things right, just excuses. Very dismissive and trying to get us out. Claimed that they have the best quality in food and service This place is a complete joke. Save your time, money. I'd rather eat dog food than go back here. Avoid at all costs.

We peeped the prices and they were a little more expensive than we expected but I thought the solid patronage was a good indicator to how the meal would be. We ordered our fish and chip meal with a burger to trial. It cost us close to thirty dollars for what we bought. The surprising thing was that the burger was a third of the over all price. It took about twenty minutes for our order to come out, which wasn't too bad considering the line up and when we got home and opened our feast we were pretty happy with the amount of goods we received. There was nothing too special about the fish and chips, pretty stock standard. Still everything was fresh. The burger was the standout, even after the ten minute drive back it kept its consistency and wasn't all wet as I expected. Fish On Line is worth a chow visit in my books.

Paid parking now being instituted at Westfield Chermside has caused a lot of the traffic to spill out over into the streets, which unfortunately can limit your parking choices for Bella Cosi. The place itself however is really quite lovely, with the choice of both outdoor and indoor seating. It oozes Italian charm, with red, black, and white seats and furnishings and an Italian street scene occupying an entire wall that gives you itchy feet and makes you want to travel. There's even the odd vespa outside, which only adds more Italian charm to the place. The tea they serve is made from real leaves, no fake tea here, and their coffee is strong and smooth, just what I love and expect from a true Italian restaurant. Breakfast is a treat here, with fluffy berry pancakes served with ice cream and excellent scrambled eggs. They also crisp the bacon if you request it. Breakfast isn't a busy time at Bella Cosi, so it's a really nice place to sit back and enjoy the Italian aura without excess noise or worries. Getting in early has its benefits, including easier parking and less of a crowd.
