This has been the best move for my kids. The teachers care about the students and go above and beyond for them. My only issue with the school has been some and only some of the administration. I believe there is a lack of authority when needed sometimes. I seems as though if it is a student with parents who are donators or of some importance those kids are not disciplined in the same way as others. I have seen some kids get expelled or suspended and others just get a slap on the wrist for the same or even worse discrepancies. With an administration change this school could be amazing!

They have so many ways to get involved, socialize, and fun events that it feels like I joined a club or sorority. I run into parents from my daughters class outside of school often and I no longer feel like a stranger to New Orleans, but a welcomed member of my new community. Being a part of this school has been my favorite thing about New Orleans so far. Also, I love the outfits, the logo, and the breathtakingly beautiful grounds. The school faces the corner Nashville & Claiborne, St Joseph & Claiborne; across the street from Ursuline Academy & down the way from Alcee Fortier currently Lusher. At the time of my attendance, this school was 2nd in the district, only to 1st in Louisiana, Benjamin Franklin High School. Unfortunately, post-katrina, they no longer hold this distinction. 3 floors. Large 2 storied auditorium thats often utilized for non-McMain School functions. Spacious classrooms. Moderate cafeteria area for the student body. 3 stars because the condition of the building post-katrina. I've heard of negative events & press as it relates to McMain; it saddens my heart to see a once GREAT school allowed to be run in the ground for lack of concern by the powers that be.
