I used these fellas for my first Mardi Gras soiree. I'll summarize the process:…read more- I emailed with Noah to give some details and set up an initial meeting time - I met with Noah to try some drinks to flesh out the menu (not free tasting, BTW) - I got the contract, finalized details of pick up/take down (complicated during Mardi Gras) and payed 50%. - A list of alcohol for me to purchase was sent out a week before the event. - They set up the day before, show up the day of, do the deed, I pay, and pick up their stuff the next day. Now, I used their glasses, their ice, their bar setup, etc. I only supplied the alcohol and mixers. I ended up with two bartenders: one experienced (Rob) and one learning. In the end, I probably didn't need two for the party of about 40 people. One would have been sufficient. We did three cocktails, one mocktail, one cocktail into a spritzer, one red wine, one white wine and two beers. It was a pretty stellar menu! Price-wise, it was about $1100 for 4 hours, not including alcohol. Seemed like a lot of money but is likely on par with similar services. I was very very happy with their service, their drinks and their set up. They'll be getting a call back for this year's party no doubt!

That level of professionalism was maintained and exceeded throughout entire process. The signature drink they came up with was excellent and their work ethic was above and beyond. These guys hustled all night long and catered to our every need. Our wedding guests were also very impressed and expressed it time and time again. Well done team Artisan Well and thank you! First things first: DO NOT TAKE CLASSES HERE THINKING YOU ARE GOING TO GET A JOB... It's just not…read moregoing to happen. This is a great place to go to learn how to make drinks, learn the history behind certain drinks and alcohols and basically learn bar etiquette. But one of the key enticements they offer is their "lifetime job placement assistance". Now, the wording here is the key: see, they don't actually PLACE you anywhere. They simply give you a log-in to a database where jobs are listed. Then you go, apply for those jobs and the interviewer raises an eyebrow at your audacity that you have NO bartending experience and wanted to work at their establishment. See, bartending school isn't the magic "in" you thought it was. You're not going to graduate, find a job right away and the cash tips aren't just going to unfurl on you. Like most other jobs, people want you to have experience, but no one wants to give you your first shot (and take a chance on you) in order for you to GET that experience; it's a terrible catch-22. Most jobs you apply at will reject you outright, offer you a position as a barback or waitress/waiter and have you work your way up or they MIGHT (and that's a big "might") consider you, but they will give you a "bartending exam", which will look incredibly similar to the written mid-term and final the STL Bartending Institute gives you, only it's longer and much more intensive. (Incidentally, the STL Bartending Institute's curriculum covers mixed drinks in great detail, but only skates over beer and wine in a day... These are two things that are intensely covered in the exams most corporate bars will give you as a prerequisite for employment). I'm not saying don't take classes here (or pay the $425 for them), I'm just saying be realistic about the results. Other people will sway you entirely away from bartending school (like the moronic article "Ask Your Bartender: Bartending Schools" by Jefferey Morgenthaler) and tell you that there are other ways of sneaking into the bar system, but the bottom line is this: most corporate bars want experience and want you to work your way up and (from what I gather) most small, neighborhood and dive bars are a pretty close nit bunch and are not easily infiltrated. Only you can decide if it's worth the money and the time (40 hours, 4 hour classes 5 days a week for two weeks) and effort. I'm just telling you what you can likely expect.

We wanted a bar truck at our small wedding, and found Tipsy Pony Party Bar through The Knot--and I…read moream SO glad we found them!!! Nicole was an absolute pleasure to talk with right off the bat, and I knew we would be in great hands. She is so understanding of what it's like to plan a wedding--the stress and the excitement--and was dedicated to doing everything she could to make sure our event was exactly what we dreamed it would be. I was so touched by the level of care and service she and her husband provided to us. Truly exceptional! The bar itself was adorable and a perfect fit for our venue and theme. Rob was our bartender and he was so fun and friendly. And the drinks? DELICIOUS!!! They make all their own simple syrups and WOW! Everything we tasted was SO good--expertly crafted and mixed, and we heard lots of great feedback from our guests as well. (Apparently the "Tipsy Pony" drink that gives the company its name is dangerously good! I am going to have to try it next time!) Nicole and Rob were also super creative as they helped us come up with some special "signature cocktails" for our event. They really went above and beyond for us. We can't wait until we can host/attend another event with TPPB! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
