Firstly, great location in the city center - I had about 20 mins before I had to get back on the hop-on hop off bus and thanks to the location plus fabulous service, I made it on the tour bus with minutes to spare. A lovely gal helped me find my go-to thing from Lush - Ultrabalm, a 3 ingredient miracle cream that keeps chapped and dry skin a away. She also introduced me to these great chapsticks that doubled up as a lippy - loved that the ingredient list included strawberry and two shades looked good on my skin, so I was sold. Then when I went to pay, I got a free sample of a face soap (score!). I'm also checking out lush stores from wherever I travel as b/c the goods are made locally, esp with Ultrabalm, I can notice a difference in the beeswax used. If you can bear the extremely sweet scent of numerous bath bombs, shampoos, shower gels, toiletries and perfumes, then Lush is definitely the place to find some top quality products that are ethical, good for you, hand made and environmentally friendly. It is a chain store, but this shop in Belfast is the only one in Northern Ireland, with the next nearest Lush situated in Dublin. I'm such a huge fan, that I just had to review it. No-one in Northern Ireland seems to have heard of Lush outside of Belfast, and I think it deserves more recognition. I absolutely love it for its amazing variety of toiletries, gifts and little treats. Naturally, I have used, and bought, a great many of Lushes products, mainly due to the fact they are so incredibly good for your skin, and there aren't any hidden nasties to watch out for. My skin is very sensitive, and I once had an awful ordeal with a face mask which left me red, itchy and embarrassed...never again! A particularly favourite product, which has come thoroughly recommended to me, is 'Cupcake', which I got my sister for her birthday. It's a chocolate face-mask, which literally smells and looks good enough to eat, and she absolutely loves it. It has worked wonders on her oily skin, and freshened up her complexion no end. Lush Belfast is a good store but I'm not sure I want to part with such large amounts of money for pieces of fancy soap. They have two stores in Dublin which are the same deal, I even saw one in Venice last summer! The staff in the Belfast store are overly friendly and nicey nicey. Such a simple name for such a simple idea; my girlfriend adores this place. Every time we head in to the city to go shopping she has to come to this place just for the "smell." Don't get me wrong, I like things that smell nice but I don't want the whole shop smelling of it. In my day if you wanted to smell nice you just had to go to your local Tesco and pick of a bottle of Lynx, but things must've changed. Credit where credits due though, this shop prides itself on being extremely ethical by creating all its products by hand and not testing them on animals. Though some of the stuff smells that bad I don't think even Rabbits would want it. And as we all know, they love to have products tested on them... or is it that they don't.... I always get the two confused. Oh my goodness!!!!... You can smell it from a mile away, this is the place where you go to for those fizzy things you put in the bath that will brighten up anyones day. For girls I gather this is a weekly stop to get soaps and more different types of soaps, as if 'Hollyoaks' wasn't enough!!!! For guys this is a stop for anniversaries, birthdays and at Christmas time. Let me think what would my wife like...!!!...my mum...soap!!! my sister, my granny and so on. I unfortunately hurt my back and knee during our trip to Belfast and my husband (also a Lushie) stopped into the local Lush to scout out some product for his hair. He came home with a massage bar the employees told him would help ease my pain, as well as a sample of a new vanilla styling product. What really struck me as kind and thoughtful about this location was a hand-written get-well note from the employees with a little goodie for me. I LOVE Lush! I've been a convert for a good few years, particularly their fantastic cleansers (I use 'Herbalism' but 'Angels on Bare Skin' is supposed to be amazing!) Other products I can't recommend enough include; Vitamin E TonerTab, Whipstick lip balm, Business Time Massage Bar and my latest find is their Aromaco deodorant. Now, I was more than a little sceptical about how effective this would be as it's a waxy consistency and I couldn't really figure out how it would work, but wow! Do not doubt the power of this amazing invention. Say goodbye to those nasty aerosols and convert to this vegan friendly, planet saving, odour banishing deodorant. It's made with witch hazel which helps eliminate smelly microbes / whiffy bacteria that result in body odour, and instead leaves you smelling like bliss! The other main ingredient is camomile vinegar which 'tightens the pores, acts as an antibacterial agent and soothes the skin' I also am in scented love with their 'lust' gorilla perfume. Girls, get down here and get a whiff of this, I'm sure you'll find at least one of their perfumes which you won't be able to live without. I tried the 'lust' on recommendation of a friend, and I'm so obsessed with it now. It smells like heaven, I kid you not! Lush Cosmetics is fairly well known throughout town as you can smell its products approximately 100 yards away from the shop front which is frankly ridiculous! However the inside of the store is nice with a good range of products to cater to those who want their hygiene products with a bit of an ethically conscious edge. My main visits here were to get gifts for my good lady, sister and mother, as it is not exactly the most macho of areas. The products are meant to be good for sensitive skin, and there are a wide range of soaps, facemasks, shower accessories, and other face care products. They also do nice gift sets and will wrap up things for you in store, perfect for the male customer like me who wants to receive all the glory but with none of the effort! read more

This shop seems to have been absent from my life for a while but now it's back with renewed vigour and a better presented shop than before. You still get those distinctive blocks of soap in slices though they are not piled up so high these days. Then there's the hair soap - somebody once gave me one of those and my hair ended up a matted mass after I attacked it with the stuff, and the bath bombes which are nice once in a while and make great presents both to buy and receive. I was fascinated by the blocks of henna which look like something a camel brought across the desert, living up to the Lush ethos which is all about natural cosmetic products without excessive packaging. The shop is always strongly perfumed, maybe too sweet for some but the products are colourful, quirky and ethically produced. I can't resist. read more

On a feudal attempt to find a suitable birthday present for my mother a while back I ended up in this place. Lush specialises in a wide range of natural, boutique 'hand-made' cosmetics and soaps, many of which you buy from which appears to be a full wheel of cheese, however these are often green and pink. I must say everything is fantastically odored (I'm aware that it's not technically a word but think week I'm pushing the lexicon to the point of implosion) There's always a headed smell of rose water, petuli oil and a waft of other unknown perfumey smells. It's a safe bet for a lady in your life, whether they be a partner or family. That said they are very pricey for what at the end of the day is soap. Worth a poke round though. read more

The shop you can smell before you see Lush is luscious but I tell you what if you stay inside for too long I bet you get a slight inkling of a migraine, I do not know how the girls work their for eight hours at a time, they must go straight home and roll around in compost or raw sewage because spending your whole day smelling of roses must get infuriating. Anyway the only reason I really enter lush is if it is present time for my family, by present time I mean birthdays or Christmas. I would always stay away from their single bars of soap because no one like a bar of soap for a present, you may as well say your hygiene is poor when you hand the gift over. When you walk past this place, you are immediately hit with the smell and it is generally pleasant. A great range of wacky out there perfumery and cosmetic goods. The shop is a lot of fun and most of the time you will leave it with a purchase. The staff seem to love their jobs and that makes it altogether a great shopping experience. Lush is a store I just cannot walk past without being drawn in by the opulent, exquisite smells which waft from the doorway. They sell handmade cosmetics such as bath/shower gels, lotions, potions, shampoo, soaps, creams and perfumes. Everything's handmade from natural ingredients and most importantly - not tested on animals. All their products are also 100% vegetarian and based on ethical principles of fairness in ingredient sourcing/buying. Not only are their items ethically sound; they are also luxurious and are an indulgent pleasure to use. Lush is one of my favourite high street shops and I always feel as if I am indulging in a real treat when I use any Lush product. Great for yourself and also marvellous as gifts for others - especially their gift sets at times such as Christmas, Father's Day and Mother's Day. Don't be put off by the huge blocks of bars and soaps and vast array of products - I avoided Lush for a long time as I didn't know what and how much to buy of their products. Staff are very helpful and will guide you as to what's best for your needs, how much of an item to purchase and how to store it. It's also not that expensive at all in comparison to a lot of standard chemist bought beauty products especially given the high quality of Lush products. read more

Lush is a store aimed primarily at the ladies, but feck it. I love this place, sometimes a bit to much. All the products are hand made, and their inventor gets a little sticker giving details about what they do. You could just wonder around here smelling everything in sight and struggling to not take a bite out of them, so good is the smell! For gifts for a girlfriend, its the perfect place to go. There are ready packed gift sets or you can just have a wonder around yourself and make one up (I recommend the latter!). read more

The staff are very helpful and knowledgable and you can feel confident that they've recommended the best products for your needs. My girlfriend always drags me in here and makes me buy her stuff! I don't mind. It generally puts her in a good mood and she loves all their products. The smell from the store is amazing. It will assualt your nose the minute you walk down Castle Lane. The products in this store can be a little expensive but it's all quality stuff and sometimes you can even watch it being made right in front of you by a member of staff.
