The only thing I would warn against is the sand was much like gravel so if you have water shoes, definitely bring them with you or you will destroy the bottom of your feet. Parking is a bit of a challenge, it's up on a hill and you have to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs. I wanted to visit Sanctuary of Saint Mary 'dell'Isola di Tropea at the top of the hill but ran out of time. Next trip I will spend more time in Tropea, it's absolutely beautiful here!

But it is indeed a beautiful beach with stunning colors. Colors you might expect to see in the Caribbean. From the blue blue to azure and turquoise. Both the beach itself and the water are spotless clean. Too bad you won't see much of the sand due to the number of visitors. There are private sections where you can bring your own umbrella and chairs and some bars/resorts where you can rent some. Some locals even brought their dogs, which I think was nice, but officially it's not legal. The beach is stunning by itself, but backed with the amazing Santuario di Santa Maria dell'Isola it's a really unique sight that has to be seen if you are in Tropea or anywhere close. A real stunner! Parking is a bit of a problem if you hit high season. There's street parking and a big parking lot nearby (some blue zones even and the fee for the parking lot is fair). It's best just to wait in your car instead of driving around. There are always some people leaving, just be patient. As fun and as beautiful this beach is/was, we didn't stay long...cause of the immense crowd. We soon headed back to our beloved Nicotera Marina. The water there is as clean as it is here. The beach is wider and clean as well. Ok, the water doesn't have the same amazing caribbean colors, but still nice and deep blue. And the best part about it: Only a handful of people....even in high season....I kid you not. Maybe I shouldn't have even mentioned it. 'cause it's still a bit of a secret. Two beach chairs and an umbrella set you back only 8 Euros....for the whole day.

This beach is very European, which is to say it's a rock beach, not a sand beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas. Dependign on the time of year, the water might have jellyfish, so beware as you wade into the surf. The little island, Isola Bella is magical, make sure you tour it.

It can take 20-30 minutes depending on your fitness level (wear sneakers!) 2. Take the gondola down to the final stop, and understand that you still have to walk some stairs down. It's not ideal for the elderly or those with walking issues. 3. Pull up on your boat! You should have water shoes because this is a rocky beach. No sand. Take your umbrella and chairs. OR, rent some chairs + umbrellas from the various beach clubs along the shore. I think that's the best way to go, because they cleared out their shoreline and it's not at rocky. There are a few vendors on the walk down selling water shoes, hats, and clothes. My girlfriend bought a 10€ hat and it was money worth spent! There are also some pushy salespeople that will try to recruit you to go on a boat excursion, snorkeling, etc. Regardless, do spend at least one day at the beach if you're visiting Taormina. The water is amazing, the views, the photo opps...

Since we had the reservation, we moved the items aside and set up on our beds. The woman whose things they were then showed up and insisted the beds were hers, despite not having a wristband confirming payment. Things escalated quickly, we ended up face to face in a heated argument, and while I went to find staff, she physically lay down on top of my friend, who was already on the bed, and refused to get up. Staff and security got involved but told us they "couldn't touch her because she's a female," leaving us to resolve it ourselves. My friends spent a good chunk of the morning on edge, worried the women would come back. Despite paying in advance and dealing with a situation staff should have handled, we received nothing beyond a verbal apology , no refund, no gesture of goodwill. That said, we didn't let it ruin our day, Mondello itself is gorgeous, and once things settled we had an amazing time. But if you're paying for a reserved spot, know that staff may not step in to actually enforce it.

If you arrive by car, there is a good number of lots right at the main road here. But they fill up very fast. After 10pm it is full - at least in high season. Parking is actually free, even though some local guy will try to charge you. The beach is free as well, even though there's a small kiosk, where you can rent chairs and get some ice cream and sandwiches. It is a stone beach, so just a towel will not be very comfortable. And I have to say that there's quite some garbage on the beach. Besides that, it's a nice little beach. Mostly locals and Italian Tourists gather here, not many international visitors, which is a good thing. The water here is really nice and warm. Very clean as well, at least in the morning. In the afternoon, when the tide changes, more algaes and garbage are being washed close to the beach. So take you swim before that. It's not a perfect beach. It's not the cleanest. But when the water is still clean it's just so beautifully warm and almost without waves. Really nice. Also to get a glimpse of the local life. Not worth for a daytrip I guess, but if you're around this area, surely worth a look. After 7pm the kiosk closes and most people will leave. A good moment to enjoy the beach for an evening walk or to let your dog have a quick swim.

The staff was incredibly accommodating and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Lunch was outstanding--we especially loved the Caprese salad and pasta--but what truly set this place apart was the exceptional service. Every member of the team was attentive, friendly, and genuinely focused on making our experience memorable. A special mention goes to the sommelier, who was incredibly knowledgeable about the wine list. We are quite particular about our wines and especially enjoy California-style Chardonnays, which can be difficult to find in Sicily. He took the time to understand our preferences and recommended the perfect bottle. The combination of outstanding food, impeccable service, and the breathtaking setting--with views of the sea and the magnificent Scala dei Turchi--made for an unforgettable afternoon. Everything was exactly what we had hoped for. Highly recommended!

Apparently this is a high tourist spot due to the cliffs being mentioned in a series of books about Commissario Montalbano. There is a lot of nearby restaurants on the beach, as I am sure this place is extremely busy during the summer/high tourist season. My husband and I weren't overly impressed, so wouldn't say it's a must see spot in Sicily.
