Luna Parc is a gem! RISD graduate Ricky Boscarino purchased an ordinary looking house and property in Sandyston NJ in 1989. Then, the work and fun began. For the past 36 years, he has been creating Luna Parc. First thing to note is that Ricky still lives and works here, so you cannot simply decide to visit whenever you like. You must check his website and go on specific dates at specific times when he welcomes visitors. We went 10/31/25 and paid $20. each. That is a fee similar to what an art museum might charge. When one visits an art museum, one sees art on the walls or sculptures that one might walk around. At Luna Parc one experiences art that way, but also one is IN the artwork. Sandyston is in a beautiful, remote area of northwest NJ, near Stokes State Forest and Delaware Water Gap. For us, it was an almost 3 hour drive each way. I am not complaining. It was well worth the journey. I do not know what adjectives to use to describe Luna Parc - magical, mystical, wonderful, unique, awesome, spectacular, marvelous, delightful. Really no verbal description or even photographs can do Luna Parc justice. One simply must experience this place! Ricky is an amazing multi-media artist. The house is 11 levels, not 11 storeys tall though because levels stick out of the core in various ways. The 11th is the roof and Ricky cannot build any higher (town code) but he will continue creating inside the house and on the grounds. All I can say is, book a tour and go! read more

I reserved my ticket a few days before for the tour which is offered a few times a month from March to October. You pay the $20 for the tour via cash or venmo when you arrive. When I arrived people parked along the side of the road outside the entrance. I didn't know what to expect but I was impressed as soon as I walked in the front gate. I arrived early and we were allowed to walk around the property outside the house. The house is beautiful on the outside. The artist Ricky does a short introduction about his life and his home before letting everyone self tour his home. Ricky was super friendly and approachable to ask questions and tell stories about his life's work. Every room is more beautiful and unique than the next! I will definitely be back to see what other things Ricky adds in the future! read more

make sure to head over to the website, sign up for the mailing list so that you can get the schedule for the tours. theyre typically just on weekends and around 11 to 1 pm. that being said a few things... 1.kid friendly 2. free street parking 3. he talks to you for about 10 mins 4. you check in and can pay cash or send venmo ($20 pp). 5. you have free reign to check out indoor & outdoor of property 6. theres only 1 bathroom and everyones in it checking it out because its so pretty 7. theres artwork and sculptures for sale 8. i spent about 1 hour 20 mins here, but could have easily been more, but we had to leave. well worth the wait & long drive! read more

Incredible! What a treat to be able to walk the grounds and many of the interior rooms created by Ricky B, who happened to be around and was gracious and friendly. Bring your camera because there is much that will catch your eye. From quirky little creations to a Twigloo, Chapel, Workshop and much much more. Eyecatching features await at every corner of every room. Special thanks to all the folks working there today. From the guy working traffic control and parking, to the greeters in every room they were a source of great information. Only open 3 days in June and 3 days in October, a true New Jersey treasure. Folk art at it's finest, this mosaic covered home is thrown open to the public twice a year-- as of 2011 it's June 24-26 and sometime in August (check the website for details). I've had the luck to visit on a quieter day, since my mad-potter-mama is friends with the sweet couple who've made this amazing home. It's free to walk around, and WELL worth your time. The closest comparison I can think of is.. if John Waters had been the one to construct the amazing mosaic spots on South St. in Philly. It's costly for artist Ricky to keep up, so spread the love and buy some of his art, jewelry, or other items. Last time I was there I bought some lovely wrought iron candlesticks that I treasure and use here in LA whenever I have a dinner party! Whether you're from NYC, Philly or the Poconos, this is a great place to bring a picnic and make an amazing little daytrip for yourself! Wear some smart shoes (ie flats) and comfy artsy clothes. read more

Amazing place. We went on a trip there and the man giving the "tour" and answering question was friendly, accommodating, and interesting. The children and myself had a great time with no lulls in excitement. Would recommend for the entire family. Luna Parc - Art Galleries Near Me - Montague, New Jersey

This private residence - open to the public during only 2 windows each year - is a real treat for the imagination. The artist, who purchased the house in 1989, has been actively shaping it ever since with his unique flare of madcap whimsy. I would say his style may be something to the effect of Andy Warhol meets Tim Burton. Thousands of common objects adorn both the property and the inside of the house, from bowling balls, to vodka bottles, to bread ties, to crutches... all utilized in the ultimate artistic creation. The home supposedly has over one million mosaic tiles, each set by hand. The ghoulish front-doorway facade is certainly something out of a Lovecraftian nightmare. The admission is only $5, and you will surely be intrigued the deeper and deeper you go into this rabbit hole. Check out the Luna Parc website for the next open house and mark your calendar. read more
