Luna Luna was the first art amusement park debuted in 1987 and spearheaded by André Heller, along with the artists such as Haring, Basquiat, Hockney, etc. It's extremely whimsical and quirky and appealing to both young and old masses. As a quick aside, while the rides are large scale, the exhibit is purely for watching, not riding. There are 2 rooms on the ground floor - 1 is structured around discussing the history and timeline to develop the amusement park and the other one contains the Ferris wheel, carousel and swing ride. In there, there is a loop of actors waving butterflies, actors that run around and interact, and a combination of a quirky animals including an elephant. There is the Butterfly Bar on another floor which allows you to overlook the amusement park and get some snacks/drinks. I got the creamsicle lemonade and found it to be not as flavorful as I hoped. I enjoyed my experience here and got a chance to get in touch with my "inner child". It felt extremely nostalgic of my younger years. The downside is definitely the cost. It is a bit on the pricier side for an immersive exhibit. Going at 5p drops the cost of the ticket from $65 to $45. That should be taken into consideration when planning to come. I got the 8pm slot (the last possible slot) but was able to enter a bit early and cover everything. I think 1 hr is bit rushed, but 1.5-2 hrs is the sweet spot to enjoy everything. Would recommend at least one visit, if you can swing it!

The creativity and history of Luna Luna are very interesting to learn about. We spent just over an hour walking around the exhibit. You can read about the inception, see clips of original footage and watch as the rides come to life. While the rides and attractions are very enchanting, I do feel the admission price was a bit steep at $44/person. For reference, you can visit The Met for $30 and easily spend hours there.

As an art lover I had a wonderful time at Luna Luna! So glad I got to experience this before show closing. It was as if you walked into a surreal, joyful world. The maze was a really good time. Would highly recommend it!

This is a limited time exhibit at The Shed at Hudson Yards till 2/23. They were offering a discounted special after 5pm reduced to 45 dollar entry I believe from 65. The area is spacious with extremely high ceilings. The staff was very helpful with providing directions and information. There was a free coat check as well. The exhibit is from an old amusement park so the rides are on display for viewing with some interactive exhibits, like the mirror hexagon dome and a mirrors touch tunnel. There is also a room for interactive play that is child friendly. There was also a performance of an elephant that ate a carrot and then it came out the other side. The best part was a light show which I watched from above at the butterfly bar overlooking the whole exhibit. Overall it was a nice experience but was not up to my expectations.

If you're on the fence about visiting Luna Luna at Hudson Yard's The Shed, I'd recommend reconsidering. For select nights they have live music and the installation is actually really cool! While you can't ride the rides, the history is really interesting with a lot of original works. I particularly learned a lot about the "flautists" IYKYK

Luna Luna is a unique art event which started as an actual amusement park created by artists in Hamburg Germany in 1987. You really have to experience it for yourself. There are amusements created by Basquiat, Kenny Scharf, Keith Haring, David Hockney, Dali and more. Personally, I was blown away by a carousel created by Arik Brauer and an entranceway designed by Sonia Delaunay. The "rides" were lovingly restored to their original condition. You can see pictures of them in action, but you are no longer allowed to ride the carousels or the Ferris wheel. As you walk in, there's a wall with photos telling the story of how the amusement park was originally built. Within the shed, they fit two carousels a Ferris wheel and assorted other amusements. I liked the Hall Of Mirrors. I don't remember what artist was connected to that. There's a huge Keith Haring illustrated wall. You'll definitely get some photo opportunities here, especially when the huge puppet elephant comes out. Fun for the entire family plus there's a bar upstairs where you can get a great view.

100% hype. This is a masterclass on how to make something exciting, like a carnival, into something dry and dead, like a corpse lying in repose. The best part about it is this plush doll of a monkey's ass, which was from the Basquiat Ferris wheel. Not worth freezing your ass getting there.

Being able to…read morefinally go to a museum where you can touch and draw and just be immersed in the experience of art is so much fun! The Arte is actually a really great exhibit. I've been to one that has the slightest edge on the Arte but only because the Arte is actually quite small in comparison. I do wish they had a few more rooms for you to go in especially for it being in NY you would think it would be overwhelmingly huge but nope. We bought the cafe experience with our tickets and it honestly was a little blah. It's only $5 so I won't take away a star for that but the tables had interactive art on them so that was a bonus. The cons are once you enter the cafe you can't go back through that's it! Tour over! So make sure you do all the things before you get there! I do give it a 5 out of 5 because it's still really cool and fun to just go have the experience!

You go from room to room, and the rooms are big enough so that even when there's a lot of people there's still plenty of room. The price could also stand to be half of what it is.

They get you through quick if you have a ticket. The art is amazing. I love seeing pieces I've only seen my entire life in books and documentaries. The layout is great. It's probably one of the better popular museums in this regard. I don't feel rushed or as if I have to skip exhibits due to traffic. I learn something new every visit. One day I'll like to try a tour if available. This museum understands accommodations as well. I have trouble with blood sugar regulation that can have a sudden onset. Sometimes it's a battle explaining this at museums that don't allow outside food because they think I'm just trying to skirt the rules. I've never had an issue at MOMA. If you've not been, it's definitely interesting, though your interpretation of art will likely determine just how much time you spend here. Speaking of the gift shop, there's an amazing number of things to see there, at a variety of price points, so if you're looking for a souvenir to bring back home or a gift for an upcoming event/occasion, there is a little something for everyone here. In terms of the art, again, variety is the spice of life, but it may be best to come up with a plan of attack first. The galleries themselves can be a bit labyrinthy (I know it's not a word, but it really fits here) and it's easy to miss things. Recommend going up to the top floor and working your way down, too.

I found the ticket purchasing and overall check-in process very smooth. I happened to go on a very busy day, so it was crowded, but nothing that distracted from my actual experience. There aren't very many words to describe the abundance of international treasures on display. And the amount of history you learn while walking around is truly overwhelming. My favorite sections are the Egyptian and Greek and Roman wings of the museum. I saw many famous piece there that I previously saw in textbooks. As far as some of the cafés there offer really basic American fair, but with a fresh twist. Because it was so close to the lunar new year when I visited, there were special lychee drink s available for purchase. The collection of global art is also extensive, so hit up one or two regions of the world on top of that. After that, come back another time. This museum is so rich in content you could return 4-5 times before you can say that you have fully been to the Met. I appreciated their collection of American and European art - especially the art from the Impressionist era. Will I be back? Yes, many times. Enjoy your visit!

The Library and Museum entry fee is a bit expensive for those less familiar with this story, or frankly, those hoping for either a full and circulating library like the nearby NY Public Library (with its iconic lions) or a massive museum like several throughout NYC. That said, this place is a delight for folks like me who are interested in the history and lives of the Gilded Age robber barons in the City. The Library is housed in JP's mansion, with only the gorgeous rotunda at the original entrance, and the rooms that house the Library open to the public. While much of the library collection is in inaccessible to visitors and stored in stunning shelves and cases behind glass, many of the jewels Morgan acquired are on view for a closer look. Also on view on the main level are several sculptures, important musical scores (some acquired after Morgan's death - the Museum trustees use that high entry fee for acquisitions and preservation), small but important items from the ancient world, and a gorgeously decorated massive fireplace. The building expansion houses traveling and temporary art installations, many of which are consistent with Morgan's tastes in collecting. There's a lovely café behind the current first floor entry space, and a room with (generally) more contemporary artists being exhibited. Special exhibits are mostly upstairs and often include works with a religious theme (Bibles and psalters from many religious traditions and in many languages; a Caravaggio, Bellini and Perugino show; and other kinds of things like Renoir's drawings; music-themed exhibits; and one on story-telling through the centuries. The wonderful gift shop is also on the upper floor. We loved touring the Library and Museum, but for those who aren't sure yet, stop by on Friday for 5-8pm, when admission is free. You may even find yourself willing to visit a second time!

The Frick Collection/Museum is a nice, albeit unspectacular experience. It's on a smaller scale than other ones I've done, taking about 1 hour to do. For the size, it seemed a little overpriced ($30), and the staff seemed disorganized getting our tour group through the check-in process. This is also the only museum/gallery I've been to that didn't allow pictures to be taken of the works and/or in the galleries. It can get a little congested, and there is staff in each room, almost stink-eying you as you look at the pieces, and standing there like Secret Service Agents. It was a little off-putting. Because it's also technically a mansion/house, most of the pieces don't have information displayed, and you have to download the app/audio guide to know what you're looking at. Overall, this is probably a 3.5-3.75, but you know the drill with Yelp and half/quarter stars. Normally, I'd round up, but in this case, I'm rounding down due to the staff. While not rude, the check-in process could've and should've been more organized, and the staff eye-balling people looking at the works wasn't something that projects a welcoming environment. I understand the security issue(s), but don't be so robotic.
