    Chicken Al la Rosa
    John P.

This was an okay small town Italian restaurant. I had the Chicken A La Rosa. It was ok but really nothing special. It was served hot and had flavor. The sauce was a little overpowering compared to the rest of the dish. The service was ok. The server was attentive and friendly. However the little touches just were not present. For example this establishment is BYOB and instead of uncorking the bottle, the server just left the corkscrew on the table for us to use. At the end of the meal instead of boxing our leftovers, she left the containers for us to do the boxing. The bottom line is the at this restaurant is serviceable but nothing special.

This is become one of our favorite new places. We enjoy the atmosphere the friendly staff and the delicious food. They always have great specials and we enjoy that brick oven, it really does a nice job on preparing your meal. Make sure you try their brandy cream sauce over pasta outstanding!

Pizza was good, pasta was ok, service wasn't the greatest but wasn't horrible. I'd go back but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Ask the Community - Luberto's Brick Oven Pizza & Trattoria

    Do they sell slices?

Don't believe so. Never did in the past. Try Original Dominick's across the street and down a bit. Very good but not brick oven.

Inside is cutely decorated but nothing fancy by any means. They do take reservations, which I like. We were here on a Sunday evening and it wasn't very busy. It seemed like there were some regulars there, which is always a good sign! We started with Mozzarella in Carrozza, which was very good and they also give you garlic knots, which were delicious! For my entree, I went with the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was a decent portion size and very good. Service was generally ok, but there were times when I needed more to drink. The one thing I didn't like was that sodas are given to you in a bottle, meaning no free refills. At a place like this, I would have expected them to have fountain soda at a minimum. One of the owners came out and talked to us, which was really nice. Lots of delicious sounding things on the menu, so looking forward to going back and trying more items!

The Penne with homemade sausage, sautéed mushrooms in a light cream sauce was very good. This can also be said of the Farfalle Asparagus with Shrimp, slivered Asparagus in a pink vodka sauce. They serve a delicious homemade bread that's warm when it's brought the table. In addition, it's accompanied by a dish of olive oil, with balsamic vinegar and what I believed to be a spicy dusting of pepper. It was a little too spicy for me - however, I did like the addition of the balsamic as a change from just olive oil. I would skip the pepper though, unless you like spice. We ordered the Polpette as an appetizer; it's a 'tradition' of mine. If meatballs are on the menu, I will always order them. These lamb, veal and beef meatballs were very good, and the marinara sauce they came in was excellent! The sauce is actually a 'roasted pomodoro' gravy - which is an 'intensified' version of a classic Italian sauce. It's made by roasting the tomatoes at a very high heat and almost caramelizing them. A little feta was added to the sauce, which really highlighted those meatballs!! We split the order - as 5 meatballs is quite a large appetizer! We decided to share two entrees - the Beef Short Ribs and the Lobster Ravioli. I always ask if the short ribs are lean - our server responded they were very lean...and they were. Soft, tender and very flavorful large chunks of beef, with a deliciously rich gravy with mushrooms on a bed a creamy garlic mashed potatoes! It was a superb dish! The website said the Short Ribs were the restaurant's most popular meal. Next, the Lobster Ravioli. The dish was a very 'delicate' one, with a very subtle brandy cream sauce. It had chopped jumbo shrimp and peeled cherry tomatoes with the raviolis. While the sauce tasted fine, it needed 'something' - we added pepper which helped. The raviolis were good - we couldn't taste lobster in the cheese of the raviolis - we assumed it was there. The chopped shrimps though provided a nice additional seafood flavor. I like my raviolis tender - the kind that almost melt in your mouth. The pasta here was firmer - a little more 'al dente', but it was fine. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Mousse. Served in a martini glass, the mousse had a velvety texture with a deep dark chocolate flavor. It was very rich yet light and fluffy; a good choice for dessert!

Giovanni's Pizza & restaurant is next door is owned by the husband of Mercatino's. Both places serve really good food! My bad experience there today was due to how LONG it takes to order, pay for, and get your food. WAY to long. Plus, everything is overpriced. They make you order from one of two kiosks. Kiosk ask some odd questions that force you to go to the counter to ask things like, what is pressed hot? By the time the lady had time to answer my question, my order was timed out and I had to start all over. Then my chicken cutlet ssandwich comes with broccoli rabe, but the kiosk suggested I add it and pay more for it. WHAT? The friendly lady came out from behind the counter to help me with the order. Then she asked for my email address and phone numberto complete the order. WHAT? She claimed I HAD TO input my phone number and email address to complete my order - WHAT??I We argued a minute and I said I just want to buy my sandwich which doesn't require giving out my email and phone numbeI. I finally completed my orderand asked at the counter what's next. The lady behind the counter says here's your reciept, you have to go up front to the cashier pay for it 1st. I said what the heck and she explained someone walked out, not paying so this is their procedure now. So, okay, I walked to the fron register, presented my nvoice and paid. So, again I ask what's next. The cashier hands me a paid for sticker and said go back to the counter in the rear to get your food. Okay, so I walked back to the rear counter to discover they hadn't started to assemble my sandwich yet. So, I milled aroiund with other confused looking customers waiting for their food. 20 minutes later I got my food and FINALLY left. The food is good but very expensive, the staff is friendly, but I'll never go thru that again. Their bakery is exceptional but they get it from La Dolce Vita Italian bakery in Wescoville, it's a great Italian bakery in Wescoville. Their bread comes from NY and itself is worth the trip there. The frozen section is exceptional as well. Just don't order a sandwich unless you have the day off or like me, are retired!
