I travelled business class from Toronto to Quebec. It was spacious and very comfortable. Business class offer free drinks and dinner. The dinner options and beverage service were good with good quality choices and alcoholic beverages. On the other hand, Anne Ma Soeur Anne has done all the things right. For example, at the Big Corporate Hotel™, there was no free Wifi access and even worse, not even a fridge. Little Hotel That Could™ had both. Anne Ma Soeur Anne is nothing fancy but all I'm looking for in a hotel is a clean place to hang out and watch some television (or surf the internet) while I relax from a long day of sightseeing. While it's not fancy, that doesn't mean that it doesn't have its charms. The daily croissants left at the door are cute and if you have a room that's facing away from St-Denis, you really have no idea that on the other side of the hotel is one of Montréal's busiest streets. My favourite thing about this place is its incredible location. It's within walking distance to many of the areas of Montréal I usually hang out in (Plateau, Mile End, etc) and it's close to a ton of great restaurants and shopping along both St-Denis and The Main. Not to mention that La Banquise is a very short walk away for that drunken three in the morning Poutine snack. Highly, highly recommended and a great value for a hotel. Just don't expect a flat screen HDTV, room service and an in hotel spa treatment centre and you'll be fine.

But it's definitely in a good location, walkable to Old Montreal. I booked the Mega Guest Room, which was very spacious and came with a bathtub in an open bathroom layout. The FH&R benefit also comes with free breakfast and a $100 property credit, which we used to dine at the hotel restaurant (see my Restaurant Tbsp. review). Rather than a buffet breakfast, we got up to $50 credit per person and ordered à la carte. Overall, the service was great and the room was clean and spacious. Definitely a good use of the Amex FH&R benefit.

We did a last minute check in through hotels.com. 2 rooms with double beds cost us $158.00 total…read moreplus an additional $20 for parking. I tried to call them before arriving, but no one answered the phone. That was annoying because we didn't know where to park. When we arrived, the front desk couldn't find our reservations. After about 20-25 mins, they finally agreed to give us the two rooms we paid in advance for. I must say, everyone was very pleasant so I wasn't too annoyed. Their parking lot is located across the street at another hotel they own. There are no elevators or escalators to get out of the garage. I suggest taking all luggage out before you park and carrying it to the lobby if you're staying at this property. The parking spots are awkward (hopefully they aren't crowded) because it's tough to park in their tiny spots. Navigating through their parking lot to find a way to their lobby took us a few minutes but we managed (just go through the red doors until you find a staircase to the outside). However, at least their parking lot is secure and requires a key to access. Despite all the confusion we had checking in, once we got into our rooms I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is quiet, the rooms are clean. The rooms are equipped with a microwave, fridge, coffee machine, blow dryer, and iron. They also have a TV and free WiFi. Plenty of outlets near the bed. Beds are a bit too soft for my liking, but at least they're clean and I actually slept like a baby. It's quiet and warm. Totally worth every penny. For the price, you can't beat it. Would definitely stay here again! Would definitely recommend if on a budget.

Before there were cheap flight online self-serve bookings, there were Travel Agents. In the "old…read moredays" (like 10 years ago - LOL), you found deals by going to a travel agent who specialized in your destination. A Greek agency for Greece, Mexican for Mexico... - their purchase volume gave access to significantly discounted fares. I've used Voyages Orient Tours (Jimmy) 3x now. The first time we were a group of 7 friends and family going to Thailand, and though one friend was determined to find a better a better deal online, they gave up because so many seats and payments, and passports and restrictions were frustrating to manage and JIMMY still managed to beat the online fares and made it EASY. Most recently I needed a ticket that wouldn't have too many restrictions or penalty fees to change the return date and I needed flexibility to return from either Thailand or India. Jimmy impressed me with his knowledge of what airlines allow or how they apply extra fees and he secured the most convenient flights for me. He knows the ins and outs and can even find free stops! If you're traveling to Asia or South East Asia, try great old-fashioned travel service to book your flight!!!
