This is an item that should be on everyone's bucket list! I personally am not aware of a completely dedicated first class terminal anywhere else in the world besides this. The entire experience embodies the epitome of German luxury, efficiency, and accuracy. When my taxi pulled into the private driveway, I was immediately greeted by a staff member (who had "PhD" on her nametag!) who walked me inside and through security. Let me tell you, the security process was the smoothest I'd ever gone through! Then it was a quick ride up an elevator into the sprawling main lounge area. From left to right, there was a spacious business center, lounging area, full bar, restaurant, cigar/smoker's lounge, sleeping rooms, bath suites, and restrooms. I understand the bar has one of the greatest whiskey collections on the planet, though I went for a nice Cuba Libre to go with my stogies after breakfast. Breakfast was a combination of buffet and kitchen-prepared meals. I ordered an Eggs Benedict and helped myself to the nice selection of buffet items. Delish on all counts! When it was time to go, I found my guide who then took me downstairs to the immigration desk and a VERY nice Porsche SUV where the driver took me through the labyrinth of roads under the airport terminal and to my flight. He even escorted me right to the plane's door! I will never forget this experience, and I sure hope to be able to do it again. read more

Lufthansa hat in der Business (und vor allem in der Holzklasse) ziemlich nachgelassen. Zum Glück ist das Angebot und der Service in der First immer noch top. Das Highlight jedes LH First trips ist natürlich das First Class Terminal in Frankfurt. Hier ist die Welt noch in Ordnung. Abgeschottet vom normalen Flughafenterminal wird man hier nach wie vor vom Flieger abgeholt und hingebracht. Die Sicherheitskontrolle ist freundlich, hilfreich und es gibt keine Schlange. Der Concierge kümmert sich um Passkontrolle und Einreisepapiere. In der Lounge gibt es mehrere Zonen in denen immer reichlich Platz ist, Liegestühle, Sessel mit Fußstuhl, Sitzecken, Fernsehsessel und die Zigarrenlounge. Die Bar ist sehr gut mit bestem Scotch bestückt, kann fast alle Cocktails machen und hat eine Espresso Machine. Das Restaurant hat immer gute Gerichte auf der Karte mit Saisonangeboten, ein gutes Buffet und sehr guten Service. Es gibt zwei Schlafzimmer mit ordentlichem Bett und der Badbereich hat gute Duschen. This is one of my favorite airport lounge's simply because the services offered encompass more than just an airport lounge. This is how international first class should be managed and it starts with a dedicated building for first class passengers with its own security line and there is no line. Is there a better perk than that? Food is excellent and plentiful with a wide variety of selections and though the restaurant has a formal feel it is not at all stuffy. There are some issues with this and other Lufthansa's First Class Lounges such as beds that aren't the best and noise levels within the rooms that need better insulation. However they are offset by the roomy showers. But it gets better when the flight is getting ready to board you are taken by car on the runway to a private elevator that takes you to your seat - after everyone else has boarded. I was in Europe for a while and the travel back and forth was just an additional highlight to a nice stay. read more

Completely different level from any US based airlines' so called 'first class lounge'... Well, it's a terminal, not a lounge. From their own security check/passport control to cool Porsche or Mercedes ride to your plane...you'll get used to it so easily! The bar has 160 kinds of alcohol (yes, they told me) including some rare whisky. The restaurant area contains both buffet style food and made to order dishes including seasonal items. The Lufthansa First Class Terminal is considered one of the worlds finest first class lounges, so much so that Lufthansa has dedicated an entire terminal that first class passengers can call their own. Upon entering the First Class Terminal, you are warmly greeted. You will go through security with the utmost privacy, and it is doubtful that you will encounter another passenger. We were asked for our boarding passes, which was taken by the staff. We were informed that they would be returned to use prior to boarding. After going through security, there is a Duty Free shopping area if you choose. Upon entering the actual terminal, there is a display of the coveted Lufthansa First Class Terminal ducks. There is an impressive display of newspapers and magazines. To the right is the bar with an impressive display of almost every imaginable liquor you can imagine. There are six towers of gummy bears sitting atop the bar. There is a restaurant inside of the lounge with an impressive display of buffet food. Although the buffet looks very tempting as it catered by DO & CO, there is also a menu from which food can be ordered. We started off with the dim sum, perhaps not the best choice from an Austrian catering company. The dim sum was overcooked and not well put together. As it was overcooked, the skin just fell off of the dumplings. The omelet was overcooked, as it evident by the browning. This made the omelet tough instead of silky, and creamy. The Eggs Benedict were served on toast rather than English muffins. The eggs were poached perfectly, but the ham was slightly overcooked and dry. The Hollandaise was thick, and chunky instead of velvety smooth. There was also a ton of sauce instead of just a drizzle, like the classic Eggs Benedict. During our meal, a staff attendant came by with new boarding passes in a Lufthansa First Class ticket jacket. The boarding passes we had received in Vienna were normal boarding passes, but the ones obtained in the Lufthansa First Class Terminal had the ominous "SSSS" designated in the lower left hand corner. This was likely the result of us going to Istanbul earlier in the trip. I had read many reports that had indicated we were likely to get that designation following our trip to Istanbul, and for that reason many people have avoided traveling to Turkey as it can, and will likely cause delays. From what I gathered, the "SSSS" remains in your profile for up to three years. Unfortunately, this did affect us during our trip home which resulted in a missed flight. There is also a Cigar Lounge in the terminal, but I did not go in there and am unaware of their offerings. The lounge is very big, considering the number of passengers coming through the lounge. There are plenty seating areas, which are set in different sections to provide the most privacy available for each guest. There are also several massage chairs, unfortunately they were not functioning at the time. Once boarding is ready, you will be retrieved by an attendant. They will escort you downstairs, at which time you will go through immigration in a private setting. You will be driven to the plane in a private car. The kind of car depends on how many other passengers are in first class as well. Unfortunately, on our trip we were driven to the plane in a Mercedes van with two other passengers. The plane ride to the van was actually a little crowded and uncomfortable, but the experience is memorable no matter the circumstances. Since the devaluation of the Aeroplan program, flying first class on Lufthansa has risen from 62,500 miles to 70,000 miles plus fuel surcharges for a one-way ticket which is still pretty reasonable to me given the treat that awaits you. read more

While living in San Francisco I frequently traveled to Germany to see my parents. We also liked to travel globally for pleasure, so over the years I was able to acquire many frequent flyer miles. For a while I was flying Star Alliance and was accumulating the points on my Lufthansa account. For this reason I was able to fly 1st class several times. Truly the highlight of this is the use of the Lufthansa First class terminal in Frankfurt. As reviewers on the German side have noted, the place is simply amazing. You can drive up a little driveway right before the main terminal 1A building starts and either be dropped off or have a valet returned to rental car. Immediately someone will head out for a meet and greet and will collect passport and flight information as well as your luggage to be checked. He then get whisked through security and you there. It's a beautiful lounge with areas for work, rest, relaxation, and eating/drinking. The person who initially greeted you is now your personal concierge. He or she will return with her boarding past and also will advise you when it's time to leave for your plane. You may choose to take a shower, take a nap, or eat a meal. There is usually a buffet, but one can also order some a la carte items. Of course there is also a selection of premium wines, beers and spirits. Once I wanted to print out a boarding pass from my laptop, so I was brought a printer that I could connect to my laptop. When it's time to go you get escorted downstairs where the border police who already has your passport will inspect you. Then you get driven in either a Porsche or Mercedes across the tarmac to your plane. In the old days you had your personal driver, but most recently I actually had to share. Then you walk up the stairs, get onto the plane, and reach your seat right away because the other passengers are already on board. All in all it is a wonderful experience. read more

After going thru private security, a representative takes your boarding pass and passport and does all the check in stuff and comes to get you when it is time to leave and then drives you to the gate. So in the interim you can do a whisky tasting, take a shower and take a nap. Yes please if I hadn't eaten an ungodly amount of food, I would have taken in what looks to be a delicious meal. read more

Wow - I've always wanted to do this. I finally just said forget it, I took my daughter out of daycare for 2 months and just left her front of the tv and spent the 7,500 I saved by doing that on a one way flight from Frankfurt to NYC, which allowed me access to the terminal. Just kidding I used miles. I wanted to move in right away. The restaurant was amazing. Definitely recommend the Hallah Card steak. The giant supply of color sorted haribo was a nice touch as well! At the end you get driven to your plane in a Benz which is so cool if you love to look at planes, and there is no better place to check out planes than Frankfurt. The people were also super friendly. Definitely worth the upgrade or extra miles at least once. read more

I would be shocked if anyone EVER had something bad to say about the Lufthansa First Class Terminal experience. There was not one negative thing. To start, it is a First Class Terminal...not a first class lounge inside the terminal, but a completely separate building. You won't see another passenger except those travelling on Lufthansa in an international first class cabin. (or HON elite members) We were driven to the door and immediately greeted by a staff member and a valet. The experience starts off like a luxury hotel arrival. Luggage was whisked away and tagged to our destination. Passports handed off to our personal concierge, you pass through security (metal detector) right there in this lounge. No lines, no waiting. Seconds later you are free to relax in your own exclusive, luxurious space. This is like nothing you will experience from other airlines. Yes, other airlines have first class lounges, but the personal attention and calm atmosphere rivals everything so far in my life. Almost spa like. We found two comfortable, airport facing seats and decided to get a glass of bubbly to enjoy. "Which one would you care for sir, we have 7?" From Italian Prosecco to Bollinger Special Cuvee, the list is filled in with Ruinart "R", Perrier Jouet, Pol Roger and Gosset Rose. I was already in heaven. And don't even think you should have to carry it back to your seat yourself, they will deliver it for you. The food selection (breakfast at the time) was equally as impressive. Eggs to order from the chef, perfectly cooked bacon, fresh (beautiful) fruit, meats, cheeses, etc. You can choose to dine at a formal table setting in the restaurant area or take a plate anywhere you prefer to relax. I made a small plate to nibble on and I knew there would be plenty on the flight. The lounge also features sleeping cabins, luxury bathrooms with showers, lounge chairs and a business center. 20 minutes prior to take off, your concierge will collect you and bring you downstairs. Here you will clear immigration and your passport will be returned to you. Again, seamless and quick since you don't have to deal with masses of other travelers. Time to say goodbye to your concierge, you are then introduced to your driver, who will ask you to verify your bags already placed in the back of a personal Mercedes S-Class. You are then driven on airport property and the tarmac directly to the airplane. Again, no others guests, no walking, just calm. You arrive at the base of your airplane and board an elevator that takes you up to the start of your air journey... read more

Can be a challenge to find, but it is worth the effort. Very spacious seating. Plenty of food and drink options. Private restaurant with a la carte menu or buffet. Sleeping room and showers. The best part is the door to door car service from the private terminal to the airplane. read more

It's a tad tough to get here on a connecting layover, especially if time is tight-- you need to stamp into Germany through immigration and then walk 500+ meters outside the airport, but don't let them talk you out of it. Go for it and you won't regret! The showers are incredible, and there's even a bath in one room. The restaurant features some killer champagne, and you can even order eggs exactly how you want them. (And dim sum too.) And the fresh squeezed, I mean really just squeezed, juice is fantastic. But the real kicker is the outstanding whiskey bar where you can try any of the 100 or more including many 18-year Scotches, a 17-year Japanese Hibiki whiskey and have fresh German beer on tap as a chaser. (Remember to keep it in moderation when flying-- hard to do here.) Best of all, they limo you to the plane in a Benz. I hope to come back, it's a tough ticket but worth the effort.
