I'm so glad I did! Jim, the owner, came to my house, brought a laptop, and spent at least half an hour going over everything with a fine tooth comb. He was professionalism to the max! He answered my questions readily, gave me a printed estimate/contract before he left and followed up with emails without being pushy. My phone calls were answered promptly. I am so used to dealing with contractors who will come in and act like they're the big smart man, I'm just a stupid little woman, and they're going to do any thing they want and not listen to anything I say. Or else they come in desperately needing anger management classes, and we end up butting heads. The two painters who came, Chris and John, were a delight to work with! They were attentive to detail as well as very courteous and polite. Some holes around the thermostat were not patched before it was painted, but they very willingly came back the next day just to fix and repaint it. I felt like they really listened to me and took care of any questions or problems I had in a timely fashion. After I paid for the job, I found out from the CertaPro newsletter that they give a military discount of 5%. I called Jim, who very readily said he would issue me a refund for that amount that day. I had them come out to do some painting and staining which was being covered by my insurance company. Be warned, if you have them do work for you, they will not work with you on timing for payment. I was waiting on my insurance depreciation check to be endorsed by our mortgage company. The owner called me and told me that he needed the money right away so that he could pay his contractor. So basically he was trying to make the fact that he couldn't pay his contractor my fault because I hadn't paid my invoice in full yet (I had already paid most of the bill with the first check I received from State Farm). I just needed a week to receive the final endorsed check and I would have paid in full. So, I had to pay the final bill using my credit card which meant paying the credit card processing fee. If this is really how they do business now, then that means they don't have cash in the bank to pay their bills while they wait for payment from customers. This is not a good way to do business and is a huge red flag. My advice when looking for a painting contractor for insurance work, is to ask about their ability to work with you on insurance payments. If they are unwilling to work with you, there are others that will. I neglected to ask first and got burned. As for the quality of the work, the team they sent out did a great job. That's a reflection on the contractor, not on CertaPro themselves, so take that with a grain of salt.
