When we submitted a check for the amount originally agreed upon, Nikki threatened to place a lien on our home if we didn't pay the additional amount. We are very happy with the people we had face to face contact with (the painters and Ashley) but cannot understand how CertaPro painters can justify increasing the price after submitting a bid based on a face to face meeting with Eric Freese, the owner. The items we wanted painted were clearly communicated to him when he was here to examine the house for the estimate.

Some of the work was in tight quarters under a deck and they did great work even in the hardest to reach areas. They prepped and painted brick, stucco, metal supports and wood. The only drawback to using Iffrig Brothers is that they high quality work and attention to detail is well-know, so they often have a waiting list that seems longer than others who do the same kind of work. One upside, however, is that their waiting list is honest: they will be ready to do the project close to when they estimate they will be able to do it.

I had them come out to do some painting and staining which was being covered by my insurance company. Be warned, if you have them do work for you, they will not work with you on timing for payment. I was waiting on my insurance depreciation check to be endorsed by our mortgage company. The owner called me and told me that he needed the money right away so that he could pay his contractor. So basically he was trying to make the fact that he couldn't pay his contractor my fault because I hadn't paid my invoice in full yet (I had already paid most of the bill with the first check I received from State Farm). I just needed a week to receive the final endorsed check and I would have paid in full. So, I had to pay the final bill using my credit card which meant paying the credit card processing fee. If this is really how they do business now, then that means they don't have cash in the bank to pay their bills while they wait for payment from customers. This is not a good way to do business and is a huge red flag. My advice when looking for a painting contractor for insurance work, is to ask about their ability to work with you on insurance payments. If they are unwilling to work with you, there are others that will. I neglected to ask first and got burned. As for the quality of the work, the team they sent out did a great job. That's a reflection on the contractor, not on CertaPro themselves, so take that with a grain of salt.
